This Is the RV Park, How Fun Can It Be? 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 11, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

The RV park has a sizable parking lot (12-16 cars) right next to the start and end of the course.

Like this course says, it's a "fun park."  It reminds me of a quirky mini golf course.  The basket of 2 is sunk into the ground, while the basket of 6 is about 8 feet of the ground (stepladder provided for disc retrieval). 4 has a very thin fairway, and 5 is on a small island in the pond.

Along with its quirks, the course also has some tight woods to shoot through to get to and from the lakeside holes.  Hole 8 stands out since the basket about 5 feet off the ground.  Really puts a premium on getting close off the tee.

Concrete tees on 7 of the 9 holes (and frames out for the other two), and excellent signage because it's Emporia.

For having such a small space to work with, the distance on the back 4 is a good feature.

Cons:

The pond.  This feels like a course you could bring newer players to, except that it's extremely likely they'll throw a disc into the lake on 3, 4, or 5.  The fairways are just too thin and the island too small to be safe shots for anyone, let alone new players.  And that's not to mention the fence on the other side of 3's fairway...

Hole 7 is just a field with some trees near the basket.

The basket of 2 being sunk into the ground means it collects leaves and other debris really easily.

Other Thoughts:

When you have a fun mini golf style course, the last thing you want to do is ask people to risk their own $10-$20 disc running an island.  Leave the tiny islands to Country Club.  If the course provided discs and fished them out (like a mini golf course would with balls) this would make much more sense.  While it feels lame, the layup play is the smartest on the water holes.

Apart from that, if you have an RV, this is the place to park it.  Fun golf, unique holes, and hopefully no lost discs.
