Somewhat Disorganized 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 28, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Plenty of straight shots, easily walkable, with a few dog-legs here and there that make for a more challenging experience.

Cons:

Somewhat disorganized. After hole 6, it appears that the remainder of the course works in reverse order, as you work your way backwards from 14 to 10, and then 7 through 9. It was almost as if someone had jokingly replaced the tee markers and put them in random order. Difficult to tell whether this was done intentionally, or if the course is being re-built during the winter months.

Other Thoughts:

Looking forward to seeing what the course looks like in the summer and if the problem of disorganization is corrected by then.

Still Under Construction 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 9, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are a good number of long, open holes so you can really let your plastic fly. Many holes are also wooded, which keeps your throws focused.

Cons:

The course is in disarray. The first 5 holes are the same, and they are great, but after that things go awry. Holes 6 through 9 are flip-floped, meaning the hole is where the tee was and vice versa. This makes for a lot of back tracking. The back four were completely underwater and overgrown with grass when I played.

Other Thoughts:

According to the other reviews, this course has been "under construction" for a while now; hopefully they get things ironed out soon. This course has a lot of potential to be fun, but the lack of a good flow undermines this quite a bit (esp. if you have never played the course before). I'd recommend printing off a map for the simple fact that you will know where the course is supposed to go. However, if the course is quiet, I recommend just making your own course out of the existing holes.

The Course by the Parkway 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 6, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

This is an extremely easy course to navigate, even without a map. Just follow the parkway away from the lake for the front nine, then back on the other side for the back nine. All the tees are well marked / easy to find. It is a very open level course, but a few mandos try to keep it interesting. A few minutes' walk from the course is a large scenic beach on lake Erie. While the breeze off the lake can be heard near the beginning and end of the course, the fairways are far enough away to be spared the brunt of the winds.

Cons:

Some signs are missing; at least one basket was seriously bent out of shape. Some of the holes on the front nine play as repetitive throws away from the road toward the woods. The last few holes have some tall, razor sharp grass patches which while not having any real effect on the run of play do make discs difficult to find and painful to get to.

Other Thoughts:

Quite a few of the baskets had trees surrounding them in a way such that it proved effective to simply throw a disc high into the trees to get it to fall close to the pin. I liked the fact that these shots were available, but realize that many don't care for them.
Of all the courses the NRDG league plays, this is the most out of the way, and arguably the least well cared for. Those two factors may go hand in hand. It's a decent course, but I rarely make the trip from Buffalo to it, with so many better courses closer by.
