Pros:
Faubourg Brewing has a very nice piece of property along its front and side yard . Beer is featured inside , along with a light menu of food . The brewery has certain hours that you can play. Otherwise , the gates are closed . Nice bathrooms are located in the bar area .
THE EQUIPMENT - there are no tee pads , or signs , or online map , or kiosk which mean you have to make the course up as you go along . The baskets are brand new yellow banded Discatchers .
TERRAIN - The property was immaculate . Grass moved and landscaped . There is a pond that can come into play if you want to throw over it for hole 3 . There are a couple of places with vey little elevation , but for the most part , it's flat . There are a few trees that could come into play .
HIGHLIGHTS ------ Waiting for it .
TIME - It took me 20 minutes to play the course .
DISC RISK - Low . There are a couple of spots where the wind could kick up and guide your drive over a fence , or you could plunk one in the lake , but I doubt you will lose one .
BEER - You can drink while out on the course if you like . And most of us LIKE .
There is an ace run on every hole . Make your friends buy you a beer if you land one .
Cons:
1.EQUIPMENT - I think that the good people at Faubourg , may have wanted to wait to put thier disc golf course on Disc Golf Review . They might have wanted to at least draw some makeshift tee pads with chalk on the sidewalks for a lot of the holes .
2. NAVIGATION - Not having any idea where to tee off from can be frustrating for most . I hope that they are working on it .
3 Safety - Until I know where to throw from , I am just going to assume that it is safe enough . There are a couple of places , maybe 1 , 2 and 9 , where someone could get " The Plastic Surprise " on an errant throw or a windy day . Many like to sit out in the garden area , where concerts can spring up . The course is brand new . Give the locals the benefit of the doubt . Skip a hole if you have to . Also , there are nice lights on the ground under the trees that illuminate them . A skipped disc could easily expose and crush them . Try to avoid contact on the lighting .
CHALLENGE - The area is small , and tight , maybe too much for a short 9 hole course . You should be in birdie range on most all holes .
Other Thoughts:
I am not sure if 9 baskets in a clockwise circle qualify as a course . I still am interested in on-premises courses . It's a great way to gather free advertisement for your brewery . Even if they attract 1 new person per day , the course will pay for itself in a year . Ace run challenges between disc golf players , with a free giveaway on an off night like a Tuesday might peak interest . Check out the beer museum on the 2nd floor of the brewery . Very interesting .
MY RECOMMENDATION - an easy way to burn some time on brewery grounds . This is just some filler for friends to do while drinking beer outside . Baggers can get in here and out in 20 minutes or less if they aren't tempted to drink a couple . I personally would take a pass on this course for now until they decide to finish the course .
