Needs some TLC 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 5, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Golf Carts - Players have the option to rent a golf cart, my buddy Rich Darter would love this

Bar/Restaurant - The burger was awesome! The beer was cold, prices were very reasonable. Only drawback is smoking is allowed, but it wasn't over bearing.

Outside Seating - When the weather is nice, there is ample outdoor tables and chairs with a nice view of the course and a channel that ends next to the bar/restaurant.

Cons:

Course Conditions - To be fair, the day of the visit was a day after a heavy storm. That being said, the course is in terrible shape. There were puddles everywhere due to grass and course being in rough conditions. Two holes (8 & 10) weren't even accessible or playable due to the grass being nearly head high. Most of the tees weren't marked, the couple that were marked were nailed to a tree.

Tee Pads - There are no real tee pads, except a couple of rubber tee pads were found on Hole 9 and according to the course map it appears that most holes were to use the regular golf tees, which adds lots of unnecessary length (see COurse Length below).

Baskets - Several of the baskets are heavily banged up and Hole 5 looks like a tree had fallen on it.

Course Design - To be fair, most "traditional" golf courses that install disc golf do so as an alternate revenue source are struggling to begin with. Typically this means the golf course isn't anything special. The course is wide open and trees are sparse. This limits what one can accomplish on course design here, but what little is available to use simply wasn't used.

Basket Locations - Many of the baskets are simply too close to water hazards, especially on a few of the longer holes. It's a reflection of the lazy, uninspired course design.

Course Length - The biggest complaint most disc golfers have about disc golf courses on "traditional" golf courses is the overall length. Sometimes designers over compensate by thinking that the common player truly enjoys many, many holes that play 500+ feet. Typically they don't, especially with the wind in play. Unfortunately this course just has way too many of them.

Other Thoughts:

This course isn't a total loss. With some TLC, some new baskets, dedicated tee pads and a redesign, this course could evolve into a decent, playable course that adds value to the Tampa/Clearwater disc golf scene..

Not really worth playing 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 25, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

It's another course not far from Clearwater.

The bar looked like a nice place to have a drink.

Cons:

Pads are absent or unmaintained. Even with a map it's hard to play this course since it's so poorly marked and maintained.

Expensive for what you get.

Other Thoughts:

Spoke to two staff members both were nice but said they knew nothing at all about the disc golf course. Other than it's 12$ to play. Otherwise you are on your own. It's a shame because if it was taken care of and maintained it could be a very fun course and a good source of income for a golf course that seems to be in very bad shape.
