Just a camp course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 13, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course plays through the lower area of the camp complex. It uses the space between cabins and other activities, clearly the course is designed to be used when the other sports fields are not in use. A couple shots have tricky pin positions, including one next to a 5' wall to add some fun and challenge around the green. A couple more shots have low ceilings and trees to avoid.

The course was obviously designed with young campers in mind, so the distances are generally short, and the obstacles are limited. It's a nice little layout for introducing kids to the sport, and perfectly fine for playing with beach frisbees (which negate some of the safety concerns as well).

Cons:

The course does not provide any real challenge or variety for a seasoned disc golfer. That's not what it's meant for, but I rate all disc golf courses on the same scale. The baskets are in pretty sad shape, with lots of bent cages and gaps that discs fall right through. There are no tee areas marked, looks like it's just a basket to basket layout.

With the course playing through the main areas of the camp there are safety concerns. Hopefully the campers are well-supervised, with cabins, other sports fields, walkways and roads in play on every hole.

Other Thoughts:

This course is a nice little beginner layout as long as the camp isn't too busy with other activities. More experienced players won't find any difficulty at all here. If you want to add one to your course count, this is a really quick play as long as you call ahead and get permission (don't forget to check in at the office and get your wristband). Otherwise, don't go out of your way for this one.
