Pros:
As of Sept 2014 Forest Lawn now has concrete tee-pads with the hole number embedded (the line under the number roughly points to the basket) for each of 18 tees (9 baskets). A substantial hill featuring several tees and baskets adds some elevation, while the baskets are well placed in the parks scattered trees. Hill drives give discs some extra hang-time over a clear field allowing for a wide selection of shots and styles at times - a good park to test new plastic. There are a couple of nice ace runs, ample parking and the course is regularly groomed in summer.
Cons:
The park isn't much to look at visually with busy roads, a school yard and houses around a mostly open field. Public pathway and park users occasionally present delays. Mosquitoes in season can be atrocious, but this lasts only a few weeks intermittently during the summer. The public restrooms onsite are no longer in service, but there are convenience stores and shops a minutes drive away.
Other Thoughts:
Forest Lawn has become Calgary's longest standing course with older park closures over the years and while not particularly long or technical, is just enough of a challenge to make it a destination. The CDGA holds league night here every Tuesday during the warmer months.
