Pros:

Fox hill DGC is a twelve hole course on the outskirts of Chicagoland. The course plays mostly open with a few holes bringing some woods into play. The creek also comes into play in a few spots, one of which is a throw over the creek from the long tee. Undulating terrain is present throughout most of the course. Nothing extreme but not completely flat either.

The baskets are older Innova Discatchers. All were mounted nice and level, highly visible and most importantly they caught well. One basket and pin placement per hole. Nicely done.

The tees are concrete for the longs. All of ample size and poured level with good grip to them. The shorts were just natural but all the surfaces for these were fine when we played. Nothing rutted up or worn down.

The course flow is pretty easy to follow for the most part. With it being so open for the most part, it's pretty easy to orient yourself to where to go next. Having a map won't hurt, but it's plenty doable without one. The course starts right by the parking area and ends pretty close, nearer to hole 1's basket than the parking area, but still pretty close.

If it's windy out here, that's going to be more of a challenge than anything else. The way the course is set up it can funnel the winds through the majority of it, woods holes excluded, and pose quite a challenge. I know this from the ripping north wind we had when we played it.

The course is permanent, free to play and in a quiet little park where you shouldn't encounter any other distactions besides other disc golfers. The park was clean and in good shape when we played it.

The tee signs are pretty basic. The shorts have the hole #, par and distance. The longs are basically the same, just minus the par. Plain as plain can be but better than nothing.

Cons:

The trees over the creek for holes long tee is growing in nicely. That being said, the shot over the creek was a little sketchy. Depending on the water level in the creek losing a disc is probably not really an issue. It had been extremely rain deprived in the area when we played though.

The rough on the couple wooded holes was pretty gnarly. Thick and thorny stuff. Luckily this is only on a few holes. You don't want to end up off the fairways on these holes though. Scrambling to save par can be a challenge depending on how deep into the rough you ended up.

Slightly repetitive feeling due to the openness of most of the holes. They vary a bit from hole to hole but in the end they all kind of bleed together. The wooded ones toward the middle help with this, but only to a certain extent. You kind of leave here wishing there was more of the wooded holes than open ones. The problem is there isn't more woods to use. At least they used the little bit there was to be used.

Other Thoughts:

Decent little course. There's nothing special to go out of your way for here. But it's better than many other nearby courses. Play it you're near here, but don't go any type of distance out of your way to do so.
