Fun Sized

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 12, 2024 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

+5 nice Innova baskets in good shape.
+Easy to find your way around, no navigation issues
+Ace runs possible on every hole
+Elevation change makes this course what it is. If it was flat, it would be terrible.
+Decent shot variation overall. There are uphill, downhill, across the hill and flattish holes.
+The park is nice and includes a shelter, playground, and nice landscaping. I think there are usually restrooms but they didn't seem open in the winter.

Cons:

-Grass tees. Not bad but showing some wear.
-Just 5 holes. It's bound to get boring after a bit. If I was local, I would definitely play often as opposed to driving into Omaha to play Hummel. Hummel is great but it's a big course with lots of walking so a drive there and back plus a round is probably about 3 hours on average. Can play here in 10 minutes to get your DG fix in.
-No signage beyond hole #
-Quite short overall.

Other Thoughts:

+Overall, this course had a high fun factor for a round or two. It would probably wear off quickly but it's well done for what they had to work with.
+Glad they didn't cram 4 more baskets in here. 5 is still reasonably safe with no glaring safety issues.
+I played with just a putter and had fun. It's a good place to work on approach shots, especially ones with tricky greens and slopes.

Small Town Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 25, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

Interesting landscape
Cute little park
Solid Innova baskets
Course play is clear
Good tree obstacles
Variety of shots for such a small course (#1 is a RHFH uphill, #2 is more of a straight open approach, #3 is RHBH downhill, #4 runs along the hillside, #5 crests a slight rise threading through trees)
Quiet park and neighborhood
Mostly good use of the space

Cons:

Very short throws
Only five baskets
No concrete tee pads (but there are wooden post markers)
There is a few places where it seems they could have stretched out the throws to be just a little longer

Other Thoughts:

It's hard to give a five hole course very many stars, but it's decent for what it is.
I was in Fort Calhoun for Thanksgiving and was pleased to have any place to get out to throw. I really needed some exercise after Thanksgiving dinner, and disc golf is my very favorite way to stretch the legs. I wouldn't go very far out of my way to play this course, but I'm really glad that little towns like this can have a place to play a little bit. Will certainly play again when I'm in town.
