Goodson Middle School DGC 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 9, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Goodson Middle School DGC consists of seven baskets in the middle of a grassy field with few trees but quality baskets. This course is a great place to practice finesse shots considering holes range from 135-215 feet with the exception of hole four that reaches 360 feet. The DGA baskets are in excellent shape, allowing more seasoned players to practice upshots and putting with zero chance of a lost disc. Novice players will enjoy playing on grass with wide open fairways, allowing them to work on mechanics and experience the flight characteristics of their discs with little frustration unlike the other courses in Cypress. Ace opportunities can be had on almost every hole!

Cons:

With no tee signs or tee pads, navigation can be a little confusing. Especially from holes three through five. Fortunately, the baskets all have numbers on them. Locals play from basket to basket which is fine for the first few times but safari golf will improve both the enjoyment factor and difficulty and is HIGHLY recommended. Again, it is what it is...a perfect place to practice and introduce children to the sport.

Other Thoughts:

Goodson Middle School is very fortunate to have DG as part of their physical education program. It promotes fun and healthy exercise while also teaching the basics on sportsmanship. Considering how much land they have surrounding the school however, it would be nice to see them either add a few more holes or create a more challenging layout that takes advantage of the obstacles. Still, it was fun for a course bagger like me to play a course in less than 30 minutes and move on to some of the more fantastic courses in Cypress like Oak Meadow Park and Texas Army Trail.
