Pros:
I would love to shake the hand of the course designer here. He designed a course that I believe is almost perfect for middle school students. He obviously works with this age group and understands their psyche. Before you tell me about your 12 year old who has an IQ of 150, throws 300' and who would Ace ever hole here, let me enlighten you about the AVERAGE middle schooler. First, they have the attention span of spam. Next, they pick up a disc and try to throw it like a baseball, with no luck. They ask for instant reward with little effort or preparation. They are not going to go out in a big field and practice their drives. I taught middle school PE for four years and we used to try and have them play Ultimate and we only had one kid who could throw more than about 15 feet.
This course allows them the chance for reward. They might actually birdie a hole. They won't get frustrated searching for lost discs in the rough. They might actually decide they like disc golf. The course is perfect for them. Open 125' holes leave them with room for mistakes. They can recover. They will dig this course. They can have fun learning and improving their game. With time, some might graduate to the big boy courses.
The course has excellent DGA baskets with the red numbers on top.
Cons:
No tee pads. I would love to see, at least a front board with the hole # and distance routered in.
No signs.
Students could throw into traffic playing # 4 and # 5.
I didn't particularly like the long hole # 4 at 360'. I'd switch the 4 & 5 baskets thus keeping the difficulty down and it would actually flow better that way.
Other Thoughts:
Again, my congrats to the designer. You've put together a course that actually fills the needs of it's target audience. I say, let them write the reviews. I doubt if many middle schoolers would complain about the short distances, lack of signs and tee pads, having a weird number of holes or not providing them with enough challenge. They'd probably rate the course a 5.0. If I had bigger cajones, i'd give the course a 4.5 but then all you guys would yell at me and make fun of me and then I would probably manifest deep emotional problems from being bullied from you all. Gees, I think I've spent too much time in Mississippi and Louisiana lately.
And I was able to Ace # 5, an open 150' hole.
