Quick, SImple, and Fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 10, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Quick play (about 30 minutes)
For how simple the course is, there are a wide variety of shots that are needed to do well.
Though the play along woods and through trees is not the most challenging, it does place a heavier emphasis on accuracy, balancing out the shorter hole length in places

Cons:

Several holes overlap (2 &8, 5 &6, 9 &1, etc...). When more than one group gets on the course, play slows pretty quickly
The course borders tennis courts and a road/parking lot, where errant throws can easily land. The 7th hole is particularly bad with this, and play can slow in nice weather with joggers and cars passing by.
The second hole turns into a mud-pit near the basket if it's rained in the past few days.

Other Thoughts:

This course is an excellent, quick course which is very fun to play. The 9 holes can get repetitive after a while, and alternate versions of the course make for an excellent breather on the course, assuming nobody else is playing as the alternate versions can make the course more crowded and stall play more than already would be the case. An excellent alternative course, dubbed the anti-course, offers holes of approximately the same length, while offering different obstacles and challenges:
Hole 1) tee 1 to 8 basket
Hole 2) tee 9 to 7 basket
Hole 3) tee 8 to 6 basket
Hole 4) tee 7 to 5 basket
Hole 5) tee 6 to 4 basket
Hole 6) tee 5 to 3 basket
Hole 7) tee 4 to 2 basket
Hole 8) tee 3 to 1 basket
Hole 9) tee 2 to 9 basket

This is a fun course to play, and though it's mostly open, the bordering woods and trees keep it competitive for group play.
