Worth the Drive, Eat CASA DEL TACO 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 1, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Great course flow
-Great Elevation usage
-Nice Baskets
-Great distances variation 187'-589'
-Beautifully scenenic
-Very Challenging
-You will use every shot in your bag
-Heavily wooded
-Creeks come into play
-Score cards/Restrooms/water fountain(when in season)
-Tee Signs with distance only
-tight fair ways (literally hole 16's tee has a tree dead center in front of it) and open fairways
-just as easy to finish +14 as +2

Cons:

-no concrete pads (cant have them due to horse trails)
-terrible upkeep (I would honestly saw the best front nine I have ever play *if it had concrete tees* but this amazing, never have to wait on a tee, scenic, workout of a course has no care taker, 14 IS NOT WHAT THE PIC SHOWS, the poles are gone and 15' trees now grow there)
-natural tees have roots/loose stones
-only one bench on 13
-not for 'out of shape' people
-no trash cans
-Back 9 is much shorter the front 9
-A few baskets have been damaged by falling trees and #1's basket needs welded to the pole again
-can be soggy after lots of rain (duh)
-Finishing Even is a my best round there ever
-Thorns on 17 are terrible, but not worthy of calling it lousy, this course is a testament for a true golfer

Other Thoughts:

This course is awesome, it has it all up hill/ down hill shots, lefty and righty holes, 500+ holes in the woods and the open, over the creek and through the woods! But mind you being this rural comes with some rough rough, long shots in the woods can lead to a lot of time looking for your disc so bring your A game and your patience. This course is also one heck of a work out so if you can't jump a creek or climb a steep hill then play conservative.

All in all this course is worth the drive and playing 2 back to back rounds, it is a challenge so if you cant throw more than 250' maybe go play the OUC course instead. This kind of course is what makes disc golf fun, its a beautiful hike and with test on every hole. But i would recommend playing in a group so you can help find disc. KEEP YOUR EYE ON YOUR DRIVE

also if your driving here eat some CASA DEL TACO!!! I never play Great Seal without finishing with some Casa.s

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 11, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course is stupid hard but that is what I like about it. The course make you throw every thing you know. This course has some nice woods fairways and long drives(love the road hole). Some creek beads but it rained the day before so they where full. If you play at this course every day and do good you would be one of the best disc golf players iv seen.

Cons:

Hope you have some tough disc because they will take some beating from trees and creek beads. The sign at each hole dos not have a sign showing were the hole is but you can see most. The natural teepads where a change for me when ever I was not slipping ( but I am use to concrete, and it rained).the pars where kinda dumb most of the par 3 should have been 4 but I handled it. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER COURSE. If you are just starting playing it might ruin it for you.

Other Thoughts:

it is a must play if you are ready for it i was not but i will be back.the course might be a little overgrown in the summer so hit it in the spring, fall, and winter. If you thank you are doing bad you might not be, i Finished 10 over the first time and 4 over the second time. It is good to have a group because if some one pulls ahead then make it a challenge between you and the other group members, and easy to spot disc. The fair ways can be narrow so get some straight flying disc. This is one if not the best course I have played on. Go have fun and hope you do better then me.

Great Challenge 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 4, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

If you are looking for a challenge play this course! The first hole is a teaser hole and the rest will challenge you on the front nine. The back nine is a little easier than the front, but there is one nice long hole along the road. Pretty much the whole course is wooded with lots of elevation changes and many many trees.

Cons:

No concrete pads, but I could only imagine how tough it would be to haul the necessary materials to create them for each hole. Some baskets only have one ring of chains, but those baskets allow the disc to fall if you land on top, they are mainly on the front nine.

Other Thoughts:

Pins are hard to spot if you have never played this course before. I went with some one who knew where the pins were, but it still was a tough challenge.

I don't think I would play this course in the summer time. It will give you a work out, It's a great play in the spring or fall. Check out Pike Lakes course for a similar challenge.
