Great course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 10, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course is a lot of fun; and even though I have played every other course in the county, this has become one of my favorites. Although some of the holes are on wide open fields, most are in tight technical woods. Playing here is a bit cerebral... you have to examine the tight woods and look for a window that you can slip your disc through. To pull a good game you will need to pull out all kinds of throws... you will need a highly controlled front and back hand throw to get your disc near the pin as there are some sharp turns left and right. On some holes there is really no other good choice than to throw a big hyzer spike or tomohawk over the tree tops to get close. The natural landscape that some of the holes are located on is almost magical and totally Floridian.

Cons:

At first its hard to get used to no established tee pads; but thats really no big deal; you just play from near the marker. Two holes play over the parking lot; I think thats a bad idea.

Other Thoughts:

Check out this course. Keep an open mind. If your a big arm with no finesse game this course will frustrate you... that's no reason not to play it; there are lessons to be learned here. If you think it out and use the force you will have a great time here.

Pros:

- Beautiful park
- Variety of shots
- Alternate tees
- Shorter shots, but technical

Cons:

- Bring a map! It will help out with telling which hole is what, but I believe they are fixing this problem.
- Be careful of some pedestrians
- No cement tees, but doesn't really effect play since shots are more technical than far

Other Thoughts:

Great course, but really a 9 hole course. You play through on alternates to make it an 18, but it is a 9 hole so that you are aware.

AN EXCELLENT COURSE!! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 24, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is compact, so you won't have to do alot of walking. Can finish 18 holes in an hour. It offers a variety of different challenges, from open 350' bombs, to 140'-175' control shots through difficult throwing lanes at times.
Located close to 2 other courses, so you can make a day of it, Clearwater area courses are Ken Climo's stomping grounds!!

Cons:

During the summer months the mosquitos can get a bit unruly, may want to have a can of OFF deep woods or the like.
Could also use a front restroom facility near the parking area, instead of walking to hole 3, but if you're a guy there are plenty of woods.

Other Thoughts:

At first I didnt think all that highly of this course, but its one of those courses that grows on you for sure! Being an event coordinator for this course, improvements are steadily bringing this course up to par with its neighboring courses of Cliff Stephens & Coachman Park. I believe the negative reviews of this course are obviously from 1 or 2-time players here, who dont like technical courses.
With the new alternate tee pads, recent landscaping, & a club in the works, this course is one of my favorites, of the 12 or so I've played. If you like technical courses this one's for you!
