- Concrete tees & baskets are in good shape

- Awesome view of the mountains to the west

- Great for beginners, as a warm-up or possibly ace run round

- Fun for gripper 'n' rippers albeit on the short side

- Kiosk at parking lot w/ large map and bulletins of upcoming events in the area

- Potential for aces - Holes 6 (RHBH) & 7 (RHFH) come to mind immediately

- Fairly easy to navigate (especially after your 1st time out)

- Fairways not terribly defined, potential for crossing fairways as well

- Possibly crowded at times

- Not much of a mix in terms of distances and shots needed, not much in the way of challenge

- Other than number impressed on the actual tee and numbers on the baskets, there's no signage whatsoever.

- On the short side

- Lack of amenities - only one bench/trash can (at #3). You might be allowed to use the rec center restroom but I'm not positive

Harlow Platts is a great 9 holer for a barebones, fast and easy round. If you're coming for crazy distance or major obstacles or huge challenge, proceed elsewhere. If you absolutely positively have to have all the amenities like benches, trash cans, water fountains, bag holders, bathrooms, tee signs w/ distance & maps, etc - proceed elsewhere.

IF however, you're looking for a place to bring a beginner, a place to warm up, or just a quick, easy round, look no further.

Some of the cons listed above are debatable b/c if all you're looking for is a quick round, you don't really NEED the signage, distance or amenities. That said, the first time you're out, bring a map or take a pic of it at the kiosk - you won't need it your 2nd round though.

I wouldn't call it a destination course by any means, but it's nice for what it is plus there are plenty of other courses in the area to proceed to after this warm up.

***UPDATE 6/11/18*** The course now has two baskets per tee, one yellow, one red, making for a quick 18.

-Good place work on your drive shot
-good place to go for a challenge with friends

-there is all the same type of shot; long and then a put
-no variety from hole to hole
-The tees have no sign, par, of distance
-baskets only about a foot above the ground
-Tons of people; 10 min wait per hole

If you want to go somewhere that is basically a large field with disc golf baskets you should come here. If you want to play a good round by yourself then you should find somewhere ease. This is a good place to meet and socialize and play with a few friends.

+Some solid elevation here. 3 was a top of the world shot, 2 played mostly up the same hill and 6 and 7 were another up and down combo.
+Some trees. Hole 1 was pretty tight but you could easily bypass with a big RHBH hyzer. Hole 6 had some trees near the pin.
+Easy to navigate despite no signage on the course. Once you find the first tee, you're good to go.
+Tees are concrete, fairly large and grippy. They also have the number of the hole on them.
+You shouldn't lose a disc here. At least not this time of the year. Be careful around the creek when there is more water or more plant growth.
+This area is essentially only for disc golf. Other park users might walk through but there are no designated paths through the course.
+There are a few ace possibilities here. Most holes are aceable.
+A good course for kids, beginners, etc. It is approachable for many.

-The navigation for 6-8 was interesting. It wasn't hard to follow but it was potentially dangerous. While throwing back down the hill, you could easily hit someone walking to the next tee that is hidden behind the hill.
-Generally, the course is pretty open. There aren't a lot of obstacles.
-Being one of two courses in this somewhat large and active city, this place could get busy.

-There are lots of other things going on at this park. The course starts right behind the tennis courts. There is also a skate park, fishing pond, rec center, soccer fields, and more.
-The elevation and ace runs made this course have a decent fun factor for me. The holes were longer and had more obstacles than Valmont. I would play here if I lived in Boulder.
-This course is alright. I would recommend a stop here if you are a course bagger. It wouldn't take much of your time. It is easy to find and navigate.

Very basic course and the only one to choose from when in the Boulder area. Such a shame a town with such great views doesn't have more courses to choose from.

-Area of park with course is mostly only disc golf so you usually don't have to worry about non disc golfers

-Since this is currently the only course in Boulder, this course gets really crowded and you will probably end up waiting at many of the holes on this course.
-It can be a little hard to follow the first time through as some of the baskets could go to a couple different holes
-The hole number is on the teepads, but there are not tee signs at the holes so you don't know the layout of the holes or the distance or par or anything like that
-Most of the holes are wide open and none of the holes are that long

If you are in the Boulder area and looking for a course to play then this is your only option currently and worth a stop but due to the crowds and lack of any very memorable holes, this course is not worth going out of your way to play.

This is an open-field park course with minimal trees. It requires a fair amount of long and short shots. Constant movement of pins at least gives users some sort of variety within the park. This course is a good way to get out there, play a quick round, and work on your basic throwing skills.

This course is notorious for getting extremely crowded on a nice day. It's possible to expect delays up to ten minutes. The course also has minimal technical challenge as most holes are straight shots from the tree boxes. This course is also frequented by strong winds which can throw off your game. There are also no signs, so a first timer may get a bit lost.

A good course to get out there and play if you're in the area, but not a destination. Harlow Plattes is a giant field requiring minimal navigation with your discs.

It is a relatively short 9 hole course, but there's more variety than one would expect. The park uses what little elevation it has well, with number 3 being a nice downhill ace run. Almost every hole has 3 pin positions that seem to be changed around every week to keep it interesting. For a beginner course, holes 2,8,9 are fairly long (maybe 325-400 depending on the pin) and are wide open enough to practice proper driving technique when its not too crowded. There's also a practice cage just past the parking lot which is useful if you're killing time waiting for the crowds to die down.

Very large, durable concrete tee pads on every hole, with the hole number etched on.

Signature Hole - 2 - Pond behind with fantastic views of the flatirons, and the most unique hole at this course with a shot across the valley, around a large tree, to a basket on the side of the hill ~325'-375' or so away

This course gets very crowded when the weather's nice, with large groups of relatively inexperienced players that can back up the course. The variety in length is nice, but holes 5-7 are ridiculously short. They're useful for practicing short putter/mid lines, but not much else (5 and 7 slope downhill, so even these shots aren't as practical). That being said, beginners don't want to have to throw 325-350 on every drive, so they give everyone a chance at a few birdies.

No tee signs. Navigation is easy enough, but it would be helpful to have distances and the current pin location, since 1 and 9 switch places regularly

I love having this course 10 minutes away in order to work on my game without having to find a large open field or be stuck in my backyard putting. However, if you're only stopping by Boulder/Denver for a little while or live somewhere else around the city, there are a number of better courses. I'd recommend Bird's Nest or Johnny Roberts in Arvada for those close to Boulder, and Beaver Ranch up in the mountains near Conifer for those with more time.

Its a shame Boulder doesn't have a full 18-hole course (and surprising considering the city's culture), but at least there's something.

Fun course to play if you want to get in a few quick rounds. While the course isn't meticulously maintained, the basket placement changes from time to time making for some variety. Most of the shots are pretty wide open and it's a great course for beginners. I started playing last year and I learned on this course. Nice views of the Flatirons too.

On nice days the course can be very crowded and during the school year can be overrun with Cross Country kids, being close to a school. Course gets a little boring after playing it a lot.

This is really all a town like Boulder's got to offer?

Long, open course, you can really let your discs fly, not worrying about trees.

The course has lots of traffic. Also, not many challenging shots.

This course is very easy, and is a great ego boost to anybody who's slightly familiar with disc golfing...

Very few obstacles, tee pads not textured so they get extremely slippery when wet, very crowded, fairways cross for several pin placements, signage non-existent with the exception of hole numbers on tee pads and pins, drainage problems cause course to get swamped after significant precipitation, during the fall the nearby high school has their cross country team practice on the fairways which leads to MANY folks getting hit with discs (maybe that one should have gone under 'pros')

Great for beginners because you can take virtually any line you want to the pins because they are so wide open. The only holes that aren't a very easy birdy are 2 and 8, and even they aren't very difficult if you can throw 350-375ft. I recommend parking on the street on the backside so you have your choice to jump in at hole 5,6,7,or 8 because there is usually big backups at tee 1 due to the overcrowding. Sprinklers come on at exactly 2:21pm everyday in the summer and soak tee pad #1.

Given my rating, I had more cons than pros regarding this course. The scenery is great with the Rockies to the West and the grounds are very well kept. The holes are wide open so you're able to practice any type of throw with ease.

A little too easy and the course is not marked very well unless you've played this course many times. I'm a tourist here so this is just my first impression...and I doubt I'll probably play this course again. Anyway...maybe half of the tees give you some inkling on where to throw, but for the most part, looking from any given tee, there are at least two holes that could be considered. Also, someone had switched hole's 6 & 7 so the shenanigans didn't help either.

Could use a tee marker having the combination of the distance, par, and/or trajectory to the hole.

Right in front of the flatirons. Plays through rather quickly. Fairly easy to navigate.

Most holes are very dull with little creativity to their placement. Three of the holes shoot right beside or into a very busy street. Can get crowded at times due to the fact that it is Boulder's only course. Some fairways overlap.

I got pretty bored when I played here. Most shots are open. Good view though.

Behind the local recreation center and just this side of the pond from the famous Flat Irons in Harlow Platts is Boulder's lone disc golf course. The setting is as pleasant as the scenery, a lush green park, complete with a creek and a fishing pond. The tee pads are huge enough for a run up and safe follow-through. The course is laid out so that each next tee pad is easy to find. Enough players populate the course so that the confusion is at a minimum. The course is in its own section of the park away from the rec center, the volleyball players, and those fishing at the pond. The course has a practice basket near the parking lot. Parking is plenty and the park is easy to find. There is also a course map by the practice basket and parking lot. There are a couple of memorable shots, the tee at number three is my favorite. The basket of number two plays uphill surrounded by a couple of trees, that is nice as well. A round can be played very quickly.

1 and 5-7 are very short. Six plays with the street just beyond it, a player risks hitting nearby parked cars. I would have to say, the standard "nine hole park course" complaints apply. Mostly with the course being too short. Too many of the holes play out in the open with little obstacles. I was told by a local that the course is always windy, it was when I played it. Perhaps that can be seen as a positive though, for the added challenge.

Boulder is an amazing town, with hiking and jogging trails all over the place. For being a world class recreation town, one would expect more than one nine hole park course. Considering this is the only disc golf option in town it could be much worse. The course is well taken care of, the baskets are in good shape, and there is almost no trash.

Harlow Platts Park is located in the beautiful city of Boulder, CO tucked beneath the Flat Irons. This course was designed on a hill side that allows for elevation to come in to play on nearly every hole. Although minor, it helps add to enjoyment and challenge. The course is wide open with very few obstacles which made it easy to navigate. The course is clean, the cement tee pads are in great shape, and the baskets are all mach 3's. This is a great novice/amateur course to work on drives, accurate approaches, and open putts. Locals are very friendly and the views of the Rockies are beautiful.

The course is very short and lacks difficutly for the most part. Although the designers made the most of what they had to work with, it would be great to find a way to incorporate more obstacles. However, I am happy to see that Harlow Platts is located so close to the University. It is the perfect way for students to get involved and learn the sport.

Although a simple course, the rolling hills and scenic view make this course a lot of fun. This is a great course for a quick game whether you play it several times through or are looking to play more than one course in a day. Great place to bring kids and famalies for a day of discgolf.
