Park like 9 hole course in Downtown Newberg 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 17, 2019 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Recent redesign with brand new discgolfpark Innova baskets, tee signs and new course map in the works! This to me is a fun course. Its not terribly difficult, but requires some touch on a few shots, and good accuracy on most.Park like setting. Easy to play a quick 9 or play twice through. Can play path, rock wall, creek and landscaping / logs as ob, making the course a nice challenge for advanced players.Hard to lose a disc.

Cons:

No tee signage or Hole 1 sign. Layout can be slightly confusing the first time through. Hole 8. Play it, I just don't like this hole.

Other Thoughts:

Parking is found on River road just off 99w. 1st tee pad is right next to the parking and kids playground and plays down the hill, to the left. Hole two goes back up the hill to the far basket (some people mistakenly play 9's basket on 2). Three is the elevated tee playing over the fairway, then it is mostly straight forward from there. Easy to play as a circuit with nearby Ewing Young park which has 12 holes. Champoeg is about 10 minutes away as well. Ive only played in the dry months as Ive heard about flooding issues in the winter.

Great course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jan 2, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great for beginners, fun for the more seasoned.
Diverse holes, down hill, up hill, hyzer, anhyzer you name it. Shorter holes good for beginners to gain confidence and become more familier with their drives.

Cons:

Often muddy. The park can be crowded at times and due to the fact that the course overlaps quite a bit, this can be a problem.

Other Thoughts:

Look out for the creek running down the middle, I've found lost discs more often than not in the murky water.

Update: Visited Oregon over Christmas(2013) and had a blast playing the courses around here. Herbert Hoover will always be a favorite.
I take my in-laws, who don't play unless I take them, this is one of their favorite courses as well.

Fun little course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 13, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Lots of up and down/ creative holes.
-9 holes takes about 20 minutes to play.
-several hole in one opportunities.
-great for beginners.

Cons:

-Very muddy in the winter.
-Friendly park=lots of pedestrians.
-hole #5 is a disc eater I recommend having a friend stay at bottom of hill to make sure you know where your disc lands.

Other Thoughts:

Love playing it also if your going to play there you might as well play Shampoeg park course 5 miles out towards St. Paul.

Fun little course for newer players 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 8, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

It keeps things interesting, that's for sure!
Lots of elevation changes
Hole three's hard right cut and a few other variations force newer players to think differently.
Quick, easy, and good times!

Cons:

Poorly marked directions, and due to the condensed course, it's easy to get lost/confused.
Tee's aren't numbered, Baskets are numbered but often too far to see.

Other Thoughts:

It can get muddy and swampy. I went after it had been raining a bunch though, so it's to be expected I suppose.

Grab a local if you can. Some places will just have you wondering what's going on, and if you're throwing at the wrong baskes or what...

The place for your ACE 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 7, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Well maintained, good equipement and tees, easy to navigate, lots of little trick shots, and a play ground is a great place to occupy the wife and kids while you play a quick 9. I love that it is right ON 99w as you go thru town. Great place to stop on your way to or from the coast.

Cons:

Because it is a smaller park you do tend to be in closer proximity to the folks using the walking trails and such. But it is only a minor inconvienence. The other side effect of the small size of the park is the length of the holes. They are all pretty short. All par 3s but easily birdied by most experienced players.

Other Thoughts:

If you haven't gotten an ACE yet, play here! Of the 9 holes all but one (imo) are good candidates (#7). Can be a great warm up course if you plan on hitting Ewing Young next.

Muddy 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 11, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

very nice small park course.
Has nice elevation and trees to make you think about your shots.
The creek that flows through also make you think about your shot

Cons:

MUD. Lot of it and it is every where.
small unflat tee pads that are very muddy.

Other Thoughts:

This will be an very cool course when it dries out in the 2 or so dry months of the year here in the nw. The rest it will be muddy and so be prepared to wipe your disc alot.

Awesome 9 hole 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 28, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

One of the best nine hole courses i have ever been to. The course is well thought out with many hillside changes making it a skilled course.

Cons:

You could probably birdie most pins with practice because the course is compact.

Other Thoughts:

There is a creek going through the park so make sure your drives go straight. It isn't that deep but, you can't see through it.
