Pretty Typical City 9 Holer 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 28, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course is set in a beautiful park with picnic areas, a lake and other activities. It is kind of an oasis in an otherwise barren part of the country.

The course has two sets of concrete tees, both are long, but the longer tees are significantly longer and will add some more challenge in a course that lacks it. To go along with the concrete tees, there were descriptive tee signs on the shorter tees and the baskets were in good shape. I believe the course has dual pin placements as well.

A stereotypical 9 hole course is a little bit shorter, so I was pleased that this course had a little bit of teeth to it in terms of having true par 4s. On some of the shorter holes like hole 8, the lake came into play just a bit to add a little bit of excitement.

Navigation is fairly easy. It plays clockwise and most tees can be seen from the previous basket fairly easy.

Hole 2 was my favorite hole on the course. It has a mando and the basket is guarded by trees, which is unique to the course.

Cons:

The course is too open with not a whole lot of obstacles to contend with. There is a constant prevailing wind, which adds a little bit of challenge.

Hole 3 plays through a football practice field. I am not sure if the field is used ever, but play could be impacted if the field is being used.

Frankly, there is not too much special about this course. Nothing jumped out to me as being super great, but at the same time there were no glaring issues with the course that could have been easily fixed. The course is just "meh"

Other Thoughts:

This being the only course in the City, it is fine. When I went and played there were a few groups of people playing who seemed to love their course. I know not much else could be done to this course to improve it drastically, but I hope additional courses can be installed in the City, because there seems that there is a tight community that is excited about the sport.
