Little elevation change makes this a great alternative to local resort courses 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 15, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Excellent, well maintained course with a creative variety of basket placements. Some of the basket placements are tricky, but nothing too frustrating... there is a river running along side this course, but the designers were generous enough to put baskets a good distance for the water, allowing you to "go for it" on longer putts. This course has a great balance of open holes, tight holes (giggity), moderate elevation changes, and a few surprises like a basket that hangs from a tree branch (Hole in the Sky namesake? it should be). All tee boxes and signage well maintained, navigation very easy.

Cons:

As a few other players mentioned, this course can flood in some places. I had to rescue my disc from marshy area on hole two and water barely came over my ankle but I did get a little wet. Keep an eye out for other non-golf park users, as they are oblivious to the fact that there's a course here.

Other Thoughts:

Really fun course and great alternative to the more mountainous courses nearby. No tree cover so bring a sun shirt or some extra sunblock and water.

Be careful for the prairie dog holes, ankle breakers!

Pros:

>Well laid out course for what they have to work with
>Easy to navigate with good info on tee signs
>elevation changes used well for many of the holes
>Concrete tee pads
>Beautiful scenery
>Easy access
>Minimal pedestrian traffic when playing casual

Cons:

>Short open shots
>Majority of course is open
>not a lot of skill needed to score well

Other Thoughts:

Good course for amateur players and for practice, although if the wind is up and played with the OB's it can get challenging. For a tournament course for pros it can be fun because 17 of the 18 holes can be deuced.

DG in a Prairie Dog Town 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 6, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Given the plot of land they had to work with, the designers did a nice job of creating some interesting holes. Many of the holes rely on tricky basket placements rather than difficult drives to create their challenge. There is a good bit of out-of-bounds marked on the tee signs that also increases the difficulty of some holes.

Good concrete tees with simple printed tee signs for most holes (though several were missing). Three holes (2, 5, and 15) offer pro/am tees to offer an easier option on those holes.

Baskets were in great shape and had clear numbers. Most holes had a circle of stones marking the 10m distance. Great idea!

Favorite Holes:

Hole 4 - a short little technical drive along the river to a hanging basket. Nice risk/reward because of the close proximity of the river to the basket.

Hole 14 - a downhill drive through a double mando with a low ceiling. This was the only entirely wooded hole on he course.

Cons:

There is a lot of flat open ground on this course. Some holes are simply drives over short grass to the pin in the open. Holes 7, 10, 13, 16 and 17 are examples of this. Most other holes drive over open ground as well, but to pins guarded by trees or near the river.

There are hundreds of burrows in the ground, some of them quite large. You have to watch where you are stepping to avoid a twisted ankle.

Even in early July there were some soggy areas and lots of tricky little irrigation gullies that were not apparent from the tee. Hole 9 was a good example of thinking that I'd parked my drive only to find it submerged in a hidden 2' wide by 1' deep ditch.

Hole 11 had six-foot tall bunch grass in much of the fairway. Keep an eye on your drive!

Other Thoughts:

The day I played the tees were numbered differently than the baskets, but I don't know if this is permanent. It looks like the original (?) Holes 17 & 18 are now Holes 1 & 2 with the course finishing on the downhill original Hole 16.

There are a couple of huge parking areas available. I parked in a dirt lot near the Hole 9 tee box and Hole 18 basket. There is a bit of a walk to the first tee from there, but you finish at your vehicle.
