Nice neighborhood course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 6, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Cement Tee pads
Tee signs
New Patriot Baskets
course designed well for the park

Cons:

As what usually happens in a park, long holes are put in wide open areas and short holes are put in the more technical area.
The course is a short walk from the parking lot.

Other Thoughts:

In general, this is a reasonable course. There are a lot of tree's in this park and the course does make use of them as much as it can for an 18 hole medium size park.

It is a short walk from the parking lot over to hole 1. The first two holes are longer holes out and back into a rows of trees.
The course does have several longer holes that are not long enough to be par 4's, but are harder par 3 holes.
Hole #9 sign is currently in the wrong place. They have moved holes 9 and 10, the tee sign for 9 is about 50ft from the basket. The tee pad is behind the tee and down the hill. Still only about a 150ft shot.

Hole 10 is a sweet turnover shot down a hill behind the trees they planted that took out the original 9 and 10.

Hole 11 has a creek hidden on the right, you don't want to be in that mess.

Fun hole 15 throws down a hill with the creek far enough behind the hole to go for it.

Hole 18 is interesting to say the least. It is a hard dogleg left to right. There is no direct shot over the creek to the hole. A nice turnover roller or long skip shot might be best to play this hole well. the ditch your throw around is dry.

In general, this is a good course. A sign on hole one says it was an eagle scout project, that might have been to replace the baskets. They were all brand new.

There were quite a few people out playing, that is always good to see.

Would I play here again?

it is not a destination course, but it is a fun course to play a casual round. Several birdie attempts and some hard par 3 holes. I would enjoy playing this course again. But with that said, the 2 courses out at Lake McMurtry are much better and more challenging.

Decent, but coulda been better 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 2, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Decent layout, wasn't difficult to get into the flow from hole to hole. Grass was acceptable in terms of kept after. No glaringly long holes, most were reasonable length for the casual player. Not a bad place to spend part of an afternoon chasin' plastic...

Cons:

2nd basket was missing the top half, no chains, just the catch basket. The rest of the baskets were old and in need of updating. 9 was especially in bad shape.

Other Thoughts:

Not very crowded when we were there, the people we did run into were friendly and nice. 11th tee pad had a fallen tree on it I guess they hadn't cleaned up yet, hole was still playable.

Teepads are in 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 19, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

* Concrete Tees on all 18 holes!

This is a fun course that makes you throw multiple types of shots. There are some great tunnel shots, doglegs, a few holes where water comes into play and a variety of short and long holes. The trees make for great shade in the summer.

Cons:

This course gets swampy and overgrown during the rainy season, but once it dries out and is mowed it is a great course.

Some of the baskets are in really bad shape and need some attention.

Other Thoughts:

This course is more technical than the other course in Stillwater proper.

You can also stop at El Tap for a relaxing beverage after hole 9.

Hoyt 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 8, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Challenging shots, great layout, every hole is marked, baskets are all in pretty good shape

Cons:

Only 9 tee boxes, not completely maintained. Can be a swamp after a rain

Other Thoughts:

One of the better courses in Stillwater. Plenty of trees and space to play

Get out your roller face, son! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 2, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Hoyt GRove doesnt get the respect it deserves in my opinion. It is a must hit if youre near stilly.
-tehnical, tight
-unique hallway shots typically not offered in central OK
-great use of the land, creek and tree layout
-good balance of left to rights, long and tights
-ROLLERS YEA!!!
-course is in a valley hidden from major winds
-almost always have the course to yourself

Cons:

-hit or miss on course conditions- can get overgrown
-natural tee pads (not necessarily a bad thing...)
-course can get confusing hole to hole- not well marked-easy to figure out numerous times through
-2 baskets missing :( i typically throw both anyway, why not?
-one or two tees are near other fairways, keep your head up dawg!

Other Thoughts:

Fun course, watch out for horses on people-back and the occasional OSU hottie
other than the missing baskets this course is close to being the shiz

Nice technical course. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 20, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Nice variety of shots. A few very tight fairways that require pin point accuracy. On every hole there are trees to contend with. There are a few holes that a player could uncork a drive on, but not very many. Nice, scenic course.

Cons:

Grass is not always kept up. Course can get confusing since there are no signs or teepads.

Other Thoughts:

I brought friends to both Boomer Lake Course across town and this one and they really enjoyed and preferred this course.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 14, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Fun course, varied holes.
mid distances, most obstacles are small trees.

Cons:

Durring the summer they may only mow a portion the fairways, this makes it very difficult to find discs (unless you're very accurate).
one hole you're shooting down hill at a water hazard (the creek is about 7' drop off the bank)

Other Thoughts:

while there is water 'present' on 7 holes, its only problematic on 5 (the other two are a canal which has a depth of a few inches)
