Short and quick. 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 1, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Short recreational/beginner course located in a nice multi-use park in Jackson, WI. Tennis courts, volleyball courts, baseball fields, skate park, etc. A little bit of everything for everybody here. A great spot for a family gathering (and for you to sneak some throws in!)

Concrete tees on each hole. Plenty grippy. One tee per hole. They aren't overly long, but you don't need any real run ups here. The main gripe is that the tee signs (big rocks) are mostly right at the back of the tee pad, which limits what you can do.

Nice blue powder coated baskets (Arachnids, maybe?), which really stand out and make navigation a breeze. One pin position per hole.

Really cool large boulders are used for the signage here. Hole #, distance, par all etched into the rock. You can be sure of one thing...these signs will never be stolen. They also serve as nice landmarks for navigation.

Ace runs galore. As in, every hole. This also makes this a very beginner friendly place to throw. New throwers of all ages should have a pretty good time here. Also a great spot to practice all those shiny new shots you've learned if you're a more advanced player.

A decent use of the few spots of trees, especially on the few holes across the road (in an unused section of the park...very well done). Nothing too technical, but you at least have to think about it.

Cons:

So for a beginner, this being so short is pretty awesome. For higher levels, the novelty would wear off pretty quick. At some point, there's only so much you can do with a bunch of 200' open holes.

As stated above, having the tee sign boulders directly at the back of most of the tee pads is definitely an oversight. Just place them off to the side, please.

There are several holes that could become safety hazards if the park is in heavy use, especially around the pavilion and baseball diamond.

Hole 2 probably should have been hole 1 for better flow around the park. Not really a con, but more of an observation.

Nothing even close to resembling a bomber hole. If you're playing this with more than a mid, FH disc, and putter, you're doing it wrong.

Other Thoughts:

This course it the absolute definition of short park nine holer. None of the holes offer a lot of mystery or challenge. Basically, it's a decent spot for beginners, or others to work on their approach game.

Not a must play by any stretch, but it's clean and usable and located in a nice park, which is more than can be said for many other places.

Warm up round/Beginner and Junior Friendly 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 28, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

1) No vandalism
2) Solid concrete teepads
3) Blue powder coated baskets, caught well.
4) Unique boulder tee signs

Cons:

1) Fairly busy park with plenty of patrons who do not care or realize they are walking through/picnicking on a disc golf course
2) Very short, nothing over 250 feet.

Other Thoughts:

Not much challenge on any of the holes. Bring your putters/mids and warm up your arm before heading to Heritage Trails or Riverside.

Great course to introduce new or young players to the game and get their feet wet. Everything is short and fairly open with a few trees/bushes on some holes.

Pretty typical pitch and putt 9 hole park style course.

Very good aesthetics with well maintained tee pads, signs, and baskets in fairly busy village park.

Pros:

Sometimes a "2 disc" rating indicates that a course isn't very enjoyable or fun. THAT IS NOT THE CASE HERE!!!

In fact, my round at Jackson Park was very fun!!! The Park has just about anything you could ever want to do. Sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, a skate park, baseball fields, playgrounds, picnic shelters, and of course... disc golf.

There were a few very nicely designed holes on this course that forced fun shots.

Blue baskets are awesome and in excellent shape!!!!

The tee signs here were pretty cool... they were large rocks with flattened sides that had all the hole info and one even had a course map.

This is a very beginner friendly course, and excellent exposure for the sport of disc golf in the town of Jackson.

Cons:

I just couldn't push this course up to a 2.5.

*Gravel tee-pads are not fun. Especially when the tee signs are located in a place that blocks the run-up.

*Very short, easy course. Other than three holes that had fun shots to throw, the holes are mostly open and less than 250 ft.

*Very high potential for interference from other park users. As mentioned, there are a billion things going on at this park, so I imagine it gets pretty congested. Would be nice if the park isolated dg a bit more.

*Unfortunately, one of the more fun holes also brings the road into play pretty severely.

Other Thoughts:

Even though there are a lot of "cons" listed here I want to re-iterate that I had a very fun time playing this course!!!

Bring a beginner here, or if you are travelling through the area this is a perfect pit stop.

Simple Little Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 19, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Nice course to work on your short game.
-Birdies and aces possible on every hole.
-Very nice baskets. The blue powdercoating looks great.
-Distinct signage.
-Not many possibilities to lose a disc.
-Well manicured.
-Usually not busy.
-A quick look at the map on the first hole will be plenty to guide those who are new to this course.

Cons:

My main gripe is the tee pads. They're short, uneven, gravel pads. UPDATE: They now have concrete pads, which is a nice improvement, but they're still too short and some of them have the stone marker directly behind them.
-This is a short course. Average distance is about 210 ft and the longest hole is 240.
-The course was built in the middle of an existing park, so you need to keep an eye out for non-golfers.
-Too many open holes without any considerable obstacles.
-All holes are roughly the same length.

Other Thoughts:

There's not a whole lot I can say that hasn't been said in the other reviews.

This course is very close to home and only two blocks out of my way when coming home off of Hwy 45. I can get a quick round in and be back home in no time.

It's a pretty nice course for what it is. They added a course to an existing park and used what obstacles that were available fairly well.

Holes 6, 5, and 4 are my favorites (in that order) because of the challenges they present.

While I wouldn't go out of my way to play this course, I'll continue to play it regularly not only because of its convenience, but because it's good practice for my short game.
