Wide variety of shots: hyzers and annies*(sp?) both up and down. Great mix of uphill and downhill, wooded and open. Risk and reward shots. Mando hole as well. Very well designed, optimal and efficient layout (holes 9 and 18 finish near each other, next to where 1 tee pad/parking lot are. Three sets of pads all concrete (huge bonus for that)

I played from the blues (middle pads, probably considered the pro pad). The golds are the insane pads, which is alright I guess, but from looking at the basket from each gold tee (some holes share blue/gold) there were a few standalone gold pads that weren't even remotely realistic. Also the blue pad on 1 seems to be a nuisance for those waiting to play from whites (because they are going to have to get out of the way) and the shelter at 1 could feasibly be in play as well. Signage was well done, where there were still signs (maybe 8 holes total with signs?)

Very nice people in the groups ahead and behind me, those in front allowed me to play through, and when I had trouble finding a disc the group behind me understood and had no problem playing down while I searched. The course was also pretty easy to find, and the holes weren't difficult to locate from one to the other.

- Perfect mix of open, wooded, up hill, down hill, and length
- Well maintained
- Challengening enough for all skill types

- Hole 18 should be a par 4 from the whites
- Can be very crowded

I would consider this my home course. I've played it many times and each time it's very enjoyable. The beauty of this course is it never gets old.

Good Mix of Short and Long, Right and Left,.
There are 3 tees, White has lots of Ace and Birdie Ops, Blue is a little farther with tougher angles, and the gold are long and tight right off the tee, sometimes with absurd angles and lines.
All these are nice, concrete tees--how often do you see that?? 3 tees per hole??
This course flows well, tees are easy to find
Markers on most holes reflecting distance and elevation
There are several baskets with a creek, road, or drop behind them which adds to challenge.

If you slip up a bit it is easy to loose a disc in the OB areas, water, power station, residential backyards.
Alot of the bridges, benches, and upkeep are a bit behind

I tend to spend a lot of time looking for my disc on a couple of the back 9 holes
There is alot of traffic at this course compared to most others and you will have to join up with 2-3 other people to keep pace with the other groups at busy times.

This is a great course, I really like this as a home course. They have weekly tournaments and lots of cool guys to play with

Three tee pads - White, Blue, and Gold - keep the course interesting to even those that play it weekly and/or daily. The park is well taken care of and clean, for the most part. Good mix of wooded and open holes. Hole distance markers and maps are located at the blue tee pads and give the distances from white, blue, and gold pads.

No water source on site.

This is my home course, so I am a bit partial. If you are looking for a quick round with some quality ace runs, play it from the white tees. If you are looking for a round where you need to use some distance shots, play from the blues. If you are looking for a real challenge with small windows off of the tee box, play the golds. This course has a little of everything for all different levels of players. Only things that would make this course better would be a water source on site and maybe updated baskets.

Fun, not too terribly challenging, anyone can play it, every hole is either birdie or par-able. One of my faves.

Hole 18 is a killer...even the shorter hole. The 3 times i played that hole, each time i got a 4. hardest hole on the course.

A great use of tight shots through the woods and good use of Piedmont elevation. Also long shots available on 18 and a few other holes. Need to be able to curve both directions which is always good. No other activity except disc golf which is great. Good markings and plenty of benches.

A little erosion is making some of the pads capable of turning an ankle if stepping off. Other than that great.

It is a disc golf course only. Therefore the lack of amenities was of no consequence. There was a porta-john and a practice basket.

I went on a Saturday on my way home from Charlotte. There were around 8-10 groups playing. I was at least 40 years older than anyone on the course. If the young adults I met are typical of High Point someone is doing a great job of raising the next generation. What a pleasure to meet them.

As for finding the park when you turn off the highway it is a right turn just before the fire station. It does not have a big park sign.

- Signs were good including distances from each pad and description when there was something different about the hole (i.e. different basket)
- Multiple tee pads provided a very diverse experience to accommodate all players and
moods.
- Great mix of open vs wooded holes

- Signs were located on the blue tee pads which sometimes required back-tracking to the gold tees (minor con)
- Tee pads could be longer, particularly for the open, bigger throw holes

Really enjoyed this course. I played the gold tees but also threw tee shots from the Blues. Provided a good change from one tee to the other.

1)Different layouts cater to the different skill level of players.

2)The transition from one hole's basket to the next hole's teepad is generally straight forward. The only two teepads that are hard to find from the previous hole's basket are Gold 7 and Gold 15.

3)This course only caters to disc golfers.

4)Teepads are a decent size for the shots that are required for this course. However the areas around the teepads coulld use some work(see cons).

5)Great mixture of open holes and tight wooded holes.

6)Different holes test different types of shots and several holes have different routes to the basket.

1)The only amenities are a shelter and a port-a-potty.

2)The areas around some of the teepads are worn down from erosion. After a downpour, there are often puddles either behind or in front of the tee box.

3)Over the years, due to weather or casual players, many trees have fallen making several holes a lot easier.

4)Some of the benches need to be replaced or repaired

As mentioned earlier, this is a great course to test all of your disc golf skills.

The course just won a Innova Grant to have the signs replaced. This should probably be completed before mid August. The tee signs will include not only tee to basket distance but also elevation change, if any.

IMO, the most challenging holes are 11 and 15 Gold.

11 Gold is challenging as you have to make it through a gate of trees near the tee. I have seen many good players hit a tree early on this hole which causes them to scramble to save a 4, or if they are lucky a 3.

Gold is a downhill tunnel shot that eventually turns from left to right. What makes this hole difficult is just making it through the tunnel to a point where you can get up and down to save a 3. I have only heard of 1 or 2 guys make a 2 on this hole.

Classic, have-it-all disc golf course. Course uses the terrain to the best of its capability.
- This is a disc-golf only park. Yup, no sharing the space with other park users, especially the type who think the fairways are all extra walking trails. This gives a strong presence of solitude, even though you're right next to a main road, and houses that back up to the course.
- A perfect mix of holes, from tight, wooded holes (#8, 15) to wide open (#13 & 14) to uphill & downhills (#8 & 12 up; #2 &7 down), up-n-down holes, doglegs and everything in between. Some courses feel like they're forcing holes (we need another dogleg/tight/etc, so let's put a basket right here); these all flow great where you never feel your playing the same shot too frequently.
- Nice, big, angled tee pads. Very few courses have angled tee pads, which I think is an underrated benefit for players.
- Good, descriptive map available online. Course is pretty easy to navigate that you won't really need one.
- 3 sets of tees make the course playable for all skill levels. I was pleasantly surprised how much tougher the gold (long) tees played than the blue (middle) tees. A lot of times, when you play from different tees, you feel you're playing the same exact shot, only 50-100 feet longer. This presented a good variety of different, and tougher shots.
- Good flow to the holes. #9 & 18 both lead right back to the parking lot, allowing for you to easily tee off on #10 or only play 9 holes, if needed.

Course has no amenities at all, other than a covered picnic area. No water fountains or bathrooms - port-a-jon only. Be sure to bring your own drinks.
- As with many older courses, erosion starting to take places on hills. Wooded holes have essentially been reduced to all dirt fairways.
- Tee pads could use a fresh coat of paint. Each tee pad has a painted line on it, indicating it's layout - white, blue, gold. On most holes you can easily tell the 3 tees without the paint, but on several the blue & gold tees are essentially next to each other, so it's not as easy.
- Arrows or signs would be nice pointing towards the out-of-the-way gold tee pads. The tee pad for #7 gold is on the other side of #6 fairway, 200 feet from the other other tee pads. I couldn't find the gold tee for #9.
- Some holes cross close to other holes, so you have to keep an eye out for other players or discs suddenly appearing. #1 & 9 play toward each other in opposite direction, as do #11 & 17 and #13 & 16. Also the long tee for #17 is right in front of the short tee for #12.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this course. This is a very good, challenging course from the gold (long) tees. It was much easier from the blue (middle) tees.
- Course reminds me a lot of Yadkinville or a longer/tougher version of Reedy Creek.
- There are some good holes on this course, many with a great risk/reward factor. #2, 7 & 10 are all tough, narrow shots to baskets. Throw straight and birdie is a real possibility, hit a tree and you could be scrambling for par. #18 is a good, long closing hole, forcing you to throw a couple good shots for your par.
- My favorite hole, and one of the best visual holes anywhere, is #12. You tee off next to a creek, throwing an uphill shot through the trees to the basket. It's not a long hole (gold plays 266 ft), but an errant shot might ricochet off a tree into the creek. The hole is birdieable as long as you're willing to let the water come into play.
- Solid course that everyone in the area needs to play. Gold layout is in the 3.75 range; blue is in the 3 range, so it's a well-earned 3.5 overall for the course.

I really enjoyed this course, and I look forward to playing it again. I started with 18 from the Blues, and then I did 18 from the Golds. Good flowing layout with some great alley shots. Good length from the longer tee pads.

Lots of erosion in the park, and watch where you step due to soft ground.

Met some locals at the course that were very helpful and down to earth. Stop by and give this park a try. You won't be disappointed.

- Open, Woods, Open, Woods. I love how the course transitions from the Open to the Woods and then back out into the Open and then back into the Woods every few holes; especially when the Open shots still contain the threat of accidentally throwing a bad shot into the Woods.
- Good Course. Although, on the whole, this course is probably average or slightly better than average... (i.e. Johnson Street is pretty good, but not the most EPIC course I've ever played)... there are some really good holes here. Holes 2, 3, 4, 6, 12, 14, 15, and 18 stand out to me... and several others were good too. There didn't really seem to be any, what I would call, Filler Holes.
- Multiple Tees. There were white, blue and gold tees on almost every whole. This allows people of various skill levels to choose the experience they want to have. And... there were lots of people out here with widely varying skill levels.
- DG Only. The entire park was dedicated to disc golf. Not a walking path, basketball court, baseball field... nothing for the non-disc golfer.

- Erosion. It appears as though there is only 1 pin position per basket because the amount of erosion around a lot of the pins is substantial. Large sections of grass surrounding various tees and pins have been worn away... and judging from the "fossilized" muddy footprints, these areas appear to get very muddy after it rains.
- Tee-Signs. Most of the tee-signs were broken and/or missing. Even though most of the holes are pretty straight forward in that you can see the entire hole... having broken or missing equipment just isn't aesthetically pleasing. And determining the length of the Hole is hard for first time players (i.e proper disc selection).

- Tons of Golfers. The course was packed. People were everywhere (which is a pro and a con)... Pro because more players is better than a ghost-town; and, Con because it could get impossibly backed-up. Although, from my experience there (2 rounds), the course had good flow and didn't seem to get as badly backed up as the number of players would indicate.
- Tee-Pads. The tee-pads were both a pro and a con for me. The pro is that they were concrete. The con in that they were too short. However, even though they were short, I was easily able to start off the backside of all the tee-pads and simply use the concrete portion of the tee-pad for the final 3 steps of my 5 step approach.
- Needs Sprucing Up. There definitely seemed to be enough locals that they could easily spruce this place up a little. Alternate pin positions, new tee-signs, spreading of mulch piles, etc... Schedule a work day and do a little preventative maintenance.
- My Score: -3 from the Blues

My Enjoyment Rating: 7.5 (out of 10)
This is the first 7.5 I've given because I was torn. I like a it little more than a 7 but just a little less than an 8. So here on DGCR I'd give it a 3.75 if I could.

Design:
I really enjoy the variety of having 3 course layouts with varying degrees of difficulty. If I want a birdie fest I'll play the White tees. If I want a challenge suitable to my skill level I'll play the Blue tees (my drives average about 280 ft). If I want to test myself with a real challenge (and be humbled) I'll play the Gold tees. The fairways offer good variety, are well shaped, and have many fun shots. There's also good foliage variety with many of the holes in the woods, but many with scattered trees, and a few that are relatively open. In the woods the undergrowth isn't thick, so your discs don't get lost very easily. There's also good elevation variety with lots of ups and downs, but mostly moderate elevation changes.

As for Amenities, there are tons of bunches and trash cans, a decent message board, and an average map online (but it doesn't have the Gold layout on it). The basket for 18 Gold can also be used for warming up your putting.

The course is showing some sings of age, and this is mostly in the Basics:
-Signs: some are broken, some are old with a very basic hand painted map.
-Tees: concrete, but mostly too short, even though some are trapezoids (a design that I like).
-Baskets: average. Some are kind of old, and since they're gray Mach IIIs, a few in the woods are a bit hard to find.

White Tees Course Level: White (most suited for Intermediate players rated 900.)
Blue Tees Course Level: Blue (most suited for Advanced players rated 950)

There are a variety of left and right dogleg holes, but with each layout over half are straight, and that's more than I usually prefer. Also, long throwers will probably think that the White and Blue tee layouts are too short.
OK, the course is showing some signs of age here and there; it's like a guy in his mid 40s with some gray around the temples. But I've played here many times over the years and I always enjoy the course. It's still a fun NC course that's well worth playing.

Nice beginner course for all levels. Holes vary left,right, and straight with a little bit of elevation. It is nice to have a disc golf only park. 3 sets of tee pads per hole create a lot of variety for the local disc golfers. Course seems to be well maintained and the holes are defined. There are some holes that I imagine would be very pretty in the summer. You can watch your disc flight to the basket on more than half of the holes. The layout is good and pretty easy to follow, even with the damaged tee signs.
Even though we have had A LOT of rain lately the course was in really good condition. I saw no trash on the course.
Tee pads have a really rough texturing. A few holes are long enough to air out a shot, especially with a mid range or shorter driver. The big bomb guys wont be able to however.

Tee Signs look great. Hopefully the local Am's take care of them.

The Oak Hollow crew has done a lot here so I have updated this a bit.
Pads:
Tee boxes are really short, most are somewhere around 6ft long. I cannot believe that no one has mentioned how short they are. Everyone I know that has played there mentions this. To get a normal run-up on many of them you have to start then step up onto the pad. I would almost prefer natural pads. Most of the pads are shaped in a trapazoid but with the narrow end in front. You have to start on a short pad and then you get funneled to the middle of a pad too. *THe club has added some retaining walls to help with step offs after throws.
Layout:
Probably my biggest problem was with the proximity of pads to nearby fairways. I would say 60% of the teep pads are directly off the fairway of another hole, not near a pin but where short shots would come in hot. I have read that this can be a very crowded course. It must be pretty dangerous too then. The last tournament I played here we had discs almost hit us on 7 different holes and our group had to yell "fore" at least 6 more times. Please stay vigilant if you play here.
Design and Upkeep:
Because of the amount of play there is a lot of erosion. Recently work has been done to shore up greens, fairways, and tee pads. This however was done a little late and you can see that in some areas 6-12" of topsoil has eroded. A few holes you are throwing into ring of rotted logs and sticks that were placed there to stop erosion. I actually had to push a basket back to straight up and down because a green had lost so much soil. Now that walls and erosion controls are in place. A few loads of fill dirt would do wonders to level greens and give the tree roots something to dig into. This course will continue to lose trees until all erosion issues are fixed and some of the dirt is replaced.
Asthetics:
This was a negative, but now a positive in my edit.
Baskets:
The old style baskets can be hard to see in the woods, but thats not a real problem. I found hole 12's basket pushed over at a 30 degree angle and straightened it. The loss of soil has allowed 4-5 pole anchors to be weakened and the baskets are tipped at various angles.

No actual bathrooms.

I have increased my review from 2.5 to 3 with the erosion control and signage updates. Unfortunatly the erosion control was done with rotted fallen trees so this solution is temporary. I can see a big issue in the future with rotted trees gone and rebar poking up out of the ground. The course just doesn't stack up in any area (pads, length, difficulty, layout, "extras") to any of the 3.5-4* rated courses that I have played or reviewed. I review based on my experience on all courses I have played not just with a narrow view of local area courses. If I lived in the area, I would play here often. I, however, have seen a lot of courses that are in better shape than this course. This is why I gave it a "good" rating. Not great, not terrible just middle of the road 3. Real thought needs to be put into how to prevent erosion from the fairways and around baskets. Even with the erosion and signage fixed, I would not be able to rate this course a 4 or over. The tee pads are just way too small and the layout is too dangerous. Remember a 5 is a perfect course that cannot be made better.

Superb mix of wooded and open. Three sets of tees, all of which are fairly well designed, i.e. no real "impossible" shots. Easily navigated as course flows very well with nicely thought out, defined fairways. Disc golf only park so no pesky dog walkers and picnic'ers to worry about. Quite simply some of the best wooded holes in the area. Great scene, locals, etc. Good hole variety as well and the fun factor is cranked to 11 Spinal Tap style by the lovely NC foliage. Tees are small but they're very well poured out, even and smooth. Baskets are numbered via number plate atop of the basket. Has a port-a-john on site, may not sound like a pro but it's better than crapping your pants after your Burger King storms your innards like the Mexicans at the Alamo. Most wooded holes are moderately wooded with defined fairways and occasionally multiple lines to the tee. One of the best courses around from the short/white tees, ample ace runs without the lack of challenges.

Shows some age and use, i.e. tee signs were in some disrepair but no biggie. Can get pretty congested with the noobs but the course is designed well enough that it flows great even when it's swamped with people. First timers might be misled on which hole to throw to on #18, the farthest one is the practice basket, 18 holes out to the left near the shelter at the end of the tree line. This is a very popular course so congestion is a possibility. A couple of holes run the risk of grip locking your drive into a neighborhood.

There's nothing extremely remarkable about this course, it's not a supermodel, it's more like a cute girl you marry because of substance, personality, and b/c it's never ho-hum. The duck definitely flies at midnight. Fave hole: # 2, a lovely downhill tunnel shot with the basket slightly to the right, perfect for those floaty mids or putters and flippy hyzer-flips. There's been some flack about erosion, honestly it's not that bad considering all the rain this course has gotten. I think I saw epic beard man there but wasn't sure b/c he wasn't wearing a fanny pack.

3 sets of teepads for beginner to advanced.
Course is well broken in, tight wooded lines with clear paths to the basket.
Small elevation changes keep away monotomy.
Some very scenic shots, Hole 4, 12, 14, come to mind.
Disc golf only park!
Good league action, Tuesdays 5:30pm

This course is short, you can not really practice many open bombs.
Signage has been lagging, steps are being taken to fix that.
The residents on some holes aren't very recieving of disc golfers, try not to pull one OB on 13 and 14.

This is a great course for those serious about disc golf as the course is centered around a good club with several top amatuers and pros. David Wiggins Jr's home course!

Three concrete tee pads for almost every hole. You can play the one that best fits your ability or mood. Signs on most holes giving distance and an indication of basket placement. Fairways that were tight, but had an achievable line to target. Wooded holes with a few wide open bombs available. Fair to both RHBH and RHFH players. Exclusively used for disc golf so no other park users to mess with your round. Nice gazebo for lunch or a rest. Small creek in play on some holes, but not big enough to be a real disc eater.

Some signs were missing at teepads. Baskets were sometimes hard to spot. Need better flags or colored marker to distinguish them in the woods.

Nothing bad about this course. Everything was very good. Fix the signs and make the baskets more visible and I might even bump this up to a 4 someday. No truly great holes, but they are all pretty good. Next time I go I will have to try the longest pads. I played the blue and they were good. Long pads look real tough in some spots.

Good use of land. Nice elevation changes and a little creek runs through some of the back nine. Nice moving in and out of woods. Concrete tee pads, with multiple tees, a white blue and yellow. Baskets were in pretty good condition. Good elements of difficulty, mostly just trees and where the tees were placed. From hole to hole it wasn't too hard to find the next tee.

Signs, I hate to say but they were pretty awful. Not very helpful when there were there, and most of them did not exist. If they did they they did not give the distances for all three tee. Most of the time just distance of the blue maybe the blue and the white tees. Course was very muddy due to poor drainage. One hole on the back nine was long in an open field with a giant power line tower in the middle of it unnatural obstacle. Even though the course had concrete tees they were very short. This might be fine when it is not very muddy but with the mud you could hardly even take two steps on the tee pad.

Even though I had a lot of gripes about the course the lay out and the holes are very well set up. All the cons really brought it down for me but the few pros were very nice. Thats why I gave it a 3.

A long course with many tee shots requiring a big arm to get to the pin. Also, a nice combination of wooded and open holes requiring both left to right and right to left plays. The balance on this course is very nice and I've enjoyed every round I've played here. The 18th hole is a big throw through a wide fairway lined with woods on either side. The uphill nature makes it play very long and you absolutely have to hit the fairway to have any chance at a three.

Not a whole lot of birdie chances so you better make a bunch of pars and avoid mistakes. There are at least a couple of "chuck and pray" holes and any mistake can be very costly. Be aware of the fences and dogs on the back 9. The hole with the powerlines can have forehands, turned over shots, or wind all take errant discs into someone's back yard.

This is a great course and is worth checking out. I love the courses that really challenge the big arms but with accuracy and power, you can make some very rewardings deuces.

I play this course about 2-3 days a week and it is a great course to practice all aspects of your game. There's a porta-john and a shelter at hole 1.

Edit: After playing gold tees a few times I have a much greater appreciation of this course. I've bumped it up to 4 discs because of this. Also, 9 gold plays from the blue tee to the short 18 basket around the corner behind the regular 9 basket. And 18 gold plays from the blue tee to the longest 18 basket.
