Pros:
+concrete tee pads
+a full set of Innova Pro 28 Discatcher baskets, plus a few extra baskets in longer placements on some holes.
+a fair amount of elevation here and there; nothing really dramatic, except the tight downhill hole 11 with a pond at about 225' off the tee and it's 250' or so to make it across
+lots of shade, that essential quality for hot Louisiana summers
+great variety of shots required, with short tight hook shots that go left or right, or long more open holes with OB, or long tight straight holes
Cons:
-tee sign distances are off by 20-50 feet on many holes
-rough is a little too rough in a couple spots
Other Thoughts:
This may be one of my lazier reviews, as Horsman's previous review is so amazingly accurate that it would be redundant of me to go over the same points that he made so much better than I could ever do. The one salient point I can make though, is that the course designer here went out of his way to put the baskets in the toughest placements possible. That can be a pro or a con depending on if you prefer a challenge or a birdie-fest! I thought that the amateurs in the area might think this course is too tough, but when I played a tournament here they informed me otherwise. They like it just fine and why not? It's an above-average, if not spectacular course.
The tough placements of the baskets make the shortness of the length out here rather deceiving. Birdies are hard to come by, and a one- or two-under round at the end of the day is pretty darn good.
