Pros:

Lake stevens has a nice huge sign with lake stevens dgc as soon as you arrive. Good parking, and very nice tee signs for the white pads on each hole.
The tee signs are beautiful here with pin location, and distances. The white/ blue pad combo offers a nice variety, and some different shots. Good mix of lefty/righty holes. With nice technical lines through the woods. Some ace runs here as well as a couple holes over 275. Some fun elevation change shots, and good place to practice your mid range game.

Cons:

Let's just start off beating the dead horse...address the elephant in the room....lol these Baskets maybe cool
To look at, but are the absolute worst baskets I've played on. I'm sorry but if you're 2 feet out you shouldn't have to worry about your putter not going in. I'm all for homemade baskets but tone poles would be an upgrade to these. The main problem I have is they're not consistent. Some have chains blocking certain sides, some have bars through the middle forcing you to miss weak or strong side. Hole 17s basket is only one that's actually good and allows you to throw a normal put. Some of the chains actually push your putter back out
To get to hole 9 you walk over like 5 fairways.
White tee pads are short and uneven. blue tee pads are just dirt pads marked with logs somewhat easy to find but a few aren't.
A couple lines and holes aren't very good but most are fun

Other Thoughts:

With even better homemade baskets this would automatically be bumped up. I heard there's actually a big turnout for league's out here and that's so awesome. There is some really cool shots here and would love to see this place continuously grow

There’s wooded, and then there’s cluttered 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 22, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Tee signs and Pads are phenomenal, very useful and well kept. Baskets are often obscured and the signs are really useful when throwing blind.
-Fairways are typical of a forest, lots of dirt and roots, the occasional hill, easily traversable.
-This course has a surprisingly large amount of elevation, and it is used very well, Baskets are located over a valley, in a down slope, etc...
-Watery Bogs come into play on a few holes and aside from the millions of trees they are the only other obstacle, unlike the trees though, the holes play around these bog areas well.
-The Park is pretty and not a bad place for a walk.
-This course starts off strong with holes 1-3 being super nice, but it begins to go downhill from there.

Cons:

-Baskets, while unique, are total crap. Many have chains missing or in the wrong spot. The sphere shape yields a small quadrant of space to putt into which is significantly smaller than normal baskets (like half a Gateway bullseye).
-The Rough is super rough, and often times muddy.
-As the title says, there is tightly wooded, and there is cluttered. There is a difference between a technical woods shot with multiple gaps to hit along the fairway and a wall. Many holes here are like a wall, and when they aren't they require you to hit a 5 foot gap from 150 feet away. The trees are not well placed and a lot of them subtract from the course's play.
-Navigation is hard. Many tees and baskets bunch up and it gets super confusing especially around holes 5-9, many times I found myself thinking "haven't I thrown to this basket before?"
-Little to no variety of shots, almost all holes are the poke and pray type.
-A couple fairways intersect or almost intersect or basically blend together because of tree kicks.
-The Holes are understandably short, but even for the amount of woods anything under 200' is kinda a joke. It is harder (in my opinion) to shape a shot around trees with a putter, than it is with a fairway.
-This course gets a 2/4 on the New Shoe Index

Other Thoughts:

This courses biggest flaws are the baskets and the distances, this park is probably better suited for a 15 hole course than a 19 hole course.

Small Beautiful Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 6, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a gorgeous evergreen course with a lot of holes located creatively in a small area. I spent half the time I was playing the course taking in the scenery since I'm not from the area. The baskets with blocking chains definitely threw in a different aspect to the game I hadn't seen before and I actually kinda like them; really made the course more technical.

Cons:

Downsides to this course would be the short hole lengths and the intersecting/proximity of holes to one another. There were a few holes where the map said the basket was up and the left a bit, look out there and I see three baskets.... That kind of made it challenging. Graffiti on the trees were somewhat helpful, but were really an eye sore.

Other Thoughts:

I didn't get to play the course when the "bogs" were full of water, but I can definitely see how these would make the course more complex as I played around/through the dark spots where they usually are. Also take care to avoid the ferns with a wayward disc...it can be pretty hard to locate it in them.

wierd baskets 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 30, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

very technical with lots of trees. You certainly have to have accuracy. Its really pretty inside the trees. Different elevation shots.

Cons:

The course has these wierd looking half circle baskets with bars over the top and different chain placements. It definitely added to the difficulty for a shorter course, but I hated the design. Also, the course was really confusing for lack of signs to the next hole. I also hated how they spray painted all the trees. Its really an eyesore.

Other Thoughts:

Please change out those damn baskets. I wouldnt think that you could have a PDGA sanctioned tourney there, because I know those baskets are not approved.

Not Thrilled With These Baskets! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 21, 2005 Played the course:never

Pros:

It's a lovely setting for a course played mostly under some tall pines trees. The course is well designed, challenging and probably seldom crowded.

Cons:

It has these funky baskets that I've never seen anywhere else. Each basket is different from the others so no two putts are ever the same. In fact, two identical 15 foot putts on the same basket can have totally diffterent difficulty ratings depending on which side you're putting from. I found them to be distracting, annoying and downright frustrating. Not right for the serious disc golfer! It's gotta be wet and boggy there during the winter months.

Other Thoughts:

Lake Stevens is quite a ways off the beaten track. I think it's a shame that the baskets distract from such a beautiful course.
