Nice neighborhood course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 27, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Posts mark the holes
Nice use of slight elevation in the park
Nice use of the trees in the park
decent flow, easy to follow the layout

Cons:

Most of the posts only have the hole number.
The 2 tees listed are left or right side of the one poll.
Dirt Tee pads are pretty worn, this course get a lot of play

Other Thoughts:

I happened to show up right before the local mini at this course. I can see why they play it compared to the other courses around town. While not a pitch and putt course, There are several different shots in the 9 holes.

However the park is small and is used by non disc golfers. I almost hit a dog on hole 6 that I did not see until after I let my drive go.

Would I play here again?

Yes I think I would. It is not that bad of a course. The idea that the left or right side of the post are two different looks at a hole is a joke, but that does not change the fact that the holes were fun to throw.

Beginner friendly 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 6, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

I brought a friend who'd never played to this course and we found it to be a great beginner/quick course. For a small park in a neighborhood, this course has a great use of space and a mix of wide open and low tech shots. Though there's a lack of shade the course has a few built-in benches with covers that make for good spots to stop and get some water after playing in the Texas heat. Plenty of trash cans too.

Cons:

Layout can get confusing, but to combat that I took a picture of the map on my phone and we consulted it as needed. Some of the ground could use filler, lots of erosion.

Other Thoughts:

I found Lamar Park to be a great for beginners or a place to get in some quick practice throws. Originally I'd gone to West Guth earlier in the day and it hadn't been maintained in quite awhile - lots of overgrowth, zero mowing or landscaping - completely unplayable. Lamar Park saved us for the day and gave us a good 45 minutes of fun.

Quick get away 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 19, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very open great for beginners, not a lot of trees but challenging for any golfer to work on their game. quick 9 hole course to hit up after work.

Cons:

the layout can be confusing, take a map the first time or you will be aiming at the wrong holes.

Other Thoughts:

the city has done a good job cleaning the place up and keeping homeless from making it a camping spot.

Lamar Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 20, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good quick 9 hole course. Few trees on the course to get in the way. Few good challenging shot but the wind adds challenges to all of them.
Decent course and would be great for a beginner.

Cons:

Very confusing as the where the next tee is at. No map on site. Dog crap everywhere and there are signs that say pick up after your dog but I guess no one can read.

The best they could do 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 4, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is great to teach beginers at. It is clean for the most part and has several trash cans. There are few trees but the ones that are there seem to be in the best places to create a little challenge.
There are quite a few Ace runs in there a good player should be able to come out at even if not better. The winds add difficulty so every hole is not so straight foward.

The course also is in a very nice neighborhood.

Cons:

Not many People clean up after thier dogs.
There is a table right in the middle of hole 3s fairway where people come to get out of the sun.
Grass does not soak up water very well and there is some water build up on certain holes.
some teeboxes have roots growing through them

Other Thoughts:

Its a good course that is well kept and works well with the space allowed to them.
A Older DGer Puts ropes in certain spots at the teeboxes to make it more challenging and keep the dirt from getting too messed up.
I usually play this course to get back on track when i have not played in a while.

Fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 28, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Fun little beginner course or luchtime beauty!! Easy to find. Good baskets and I like dirt pads which are here too. Only one really long hole for pro/adv player(420) but fun anyways. For a small park, it makes its little elevation changes work in its favor too. Good place to try your sky game and to dial in your rocs and putters. You can play this course very fast as well. Good course if your in the neighborhood and if you want a change from the "Guth".

Cons:

No much shade. I have always played it during the weekday so never real busy but I bet it can get that way during the weekend. Watch out for the landmines....people that walk their dogs dont care.

Other Thoughts:

Good little course for the small amount of land and its used well. Fun course and there is a doubles mini Tuesday nights. Enjoy!
