Pros:
Terrain. Once you get back to the woods, you drop off toward the creek, playing twoards a pin right on the edge on hole 2. Then you cross the creek and things get really interesting with the creek very much in play. A few holes offer up the creek as the main fairway, with safer bailout options available, but not easier. This is a great forceful risk vs reward situation - risk throwing over the creek for the easier shot, or risk taking the tight and difficult route to avoid the creek!
Greens are often terraced and/or placed near the creek edge. These risky locations make you think hard about your putting skils before rifling away.
The creek as OB is plenty enough to deal with on more than half of the holes. The others (besides throwaway 1 & 9) have sharp elevation bordering their edges that can cause discs to roll into the creek, and tight tree lined and tree framed airways that can kick a disc into the creek.
Cons:
To start off, it's a niner. It only has one tee and one pin (but appeared to have multiple pin options if I remember the signs correctly). And as a niner, holes 1 and 9 are throwaways! hole 1 throws from the parking lot, across an open volleyball area, into a pin near a few trees. Then hole 9 does about the opposite but forces you to throw back into and across volleyball nets. Sure, you could play it as OB, but with the amazing terrain, get all 9 holes back in the hills along the creek!
Not a lot of variety. We're talking about tight wooded holes, some sharp elevation (but not really used like at Brickyard), and not a lot of varied distances.
If all holes were back in the woods along the creek, if there were multiple tees (no concrete needed, just level crushed stone), and if there were multiple pins on each hole, this course could be even more amazing than brickyard. Plus it's only $1 to play and right at a bar and grill.
Signs didn't really identify if across the creek was OB. Playing this way would make it more interesting and tough. Especialy if you were required to cross the creek on #7 in order to be in bounds. This would require people playing the creek 'airway' to actually make it to the green or back into the main fairway.
Other Thoughts:
This is a fun play. Not exactly the greatest or most fundamental design, but fun. It's a good round with buddies where you can egg each other on to 'go for it' and laugh when they miss or cheer when they make it!
I would come back here, but only after playing brickyard. It was very unique, but seemed to me to be very roughly put together, not entirely varied/balanced, and the 2 throwaway holes were amazingly disappointing.
It costs $1 to play, better than $5 at axledog which was lackluster anyway.
