Paradise! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 24, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Two practice baskets
Concrete tee pads in great shape
Bench at every tee pad
Great use of elevation and trees
Each hole has at least two pin placements. Most have at least three
Nice little pro shop, also a lost and found for players to find discs that had been lost.

Cons:

Lots of RHBH shots
A little long for new or younger players
Back nine gets really soft and soggy during rainy season

Other Thoughts:

Best course in Butte county
Well worth the $4 fee.

Love Lava Creek 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 16, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The course has been upgraded a lot with new Tee Signs, Placements, Obstacles, OB, and Drop Zones.

It has nice elevation throughout the entire park. The course is in a "bowl". There is a cool top of the world shot which has 4 placements now. There is a nice variety of short and long shots. There are a lot of trees on the sides and in the middle of the course. They do a good job of using them as obstacles. I love how peaceful the course is.

Cons:

There are a few cons. 14, 15, and 16 play similar and I could do without them. And most throws are RHBH. And you have to call ahead to see if course is open to disc golf (most of the time it is). And when on the course you have to give way to the ball golfers. But if you play the course on less busier times, it is hardly an issue.

Other Thoughts:

I play 10+ courses in the Sacramento region and this is one of my favorite to play.

the long drive 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 19, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Well taken care of, no riff raff of random people or bums leaving litter, grass nice and mowed, so you dont loose your disc, mixed elevations, with island shots and creek crossing, very nicely layed out, with trsh cans and ash trays, pro shop with refreshments and equipment, beautiful view, fresh paradise air, and totally nice people

Cons:

drives a little too long for par if you ask me, creek presents penalties, regular golfers to watch out for

Other Thoughts:

also will want to come back, a great experience even for a beginner like me

Lava Creek has improved my game. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 21, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

It's a VERY clean and maintained course, there are multiple pin placements so the course is constantly changing, and their pro shop has a great variety of discs to choose from.

Other Thoughts:

You can tell how much effort has gone into making Lava Creek the course it is today. From what I hear, I can't wait to see all the new upcoming improvements for the future.

Paradise! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 10, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Great course nestled in a golf course. The scenery is very nice with a vineyard, creek, and tall pines. The tee pads are nice. Course is easy to navigate. Hole one sets you up as you look down from the clubhouse and see tons of green to air it out. I think the course layout and optional tee placement makes for a challenge. This course will let you air it out and test your accuracy. Great elevation changes and interesting water hazards to navigate.

Cons:

Would be nicer if there were tee signs. I have to agree that most of the holes can be thrown RHBH so maybe a little more variety with optional pin placement or mandos.

Other Thoughts:

I like hole 3. basket nestled behind trees so not easy for righty or lefty. I like the elevation changes as it tricks you with the distance. Water hazards are very interesting. Makes you think about laying up or going for it and possiblity of taking a bath. Lost a disc in the vineyard waiting to see if it will get returned. There is a nice little shop and the lady who runs the course was very friendly. Might be the best selection of plastic north of Sacramento. It is a pay by play not much $4 and well worth it. Course had others but never seems crowded with all of the space. Come for the scenery, fun course, and nice people you won't be disappointed!

Best in Butte County 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 25, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good long and short holes. Very open course except for hole 12. Very friendly golfers and staff. This course is worth the $4.00 to play. Got green grass to walk on and nice baskets. There are tournaments every Saturday at 2:30, just call ahead. There is an Ace pot so during the tournament if you get an ace you get so much, the money goes up every week. Last pot was $156.

Cons:

Can't play on Thursday's because the course if reserved for a Men's Golfing Leage.
