Rustic/Primitive Course By The River! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Lawson Bar DGC reminds me of someone's own little course they built in their backyard. It's primitive! It's rustic! It's quaint! And it's enjoyable and unique!
The designer has gone to a lot of work here, carving out tee pads, making sure there are navigational aids to help you get around the course.

The targets are these homemade metal, hanging thingees. They are about three feet high thus presenting a fairly small target. Some of the pads are carpet while others are natural. There seems to Red, White and Blue tee pads. I couldn't always find all three. There are some great homemade benches

# 8 was my favorite hole easily. It's about a 200' ACE run with the target secured to a rock outcropping near the river's ledge. In mid-August, there wasn't much chance of landing in water. At other times of the year, water would definitely come into play.

Cons:

Homemade targets instead of baskets.
Very primitive conditions.
River levels could effect course in winter and spring.
Holes are short.

# 11 hole felt more like an afterthought.

Other Thoughts:

This course is obviously a labor of love for someone. It probably doesn't deserve the 2.5 rating I'm giving it but I can't help myself. The course is truly unique and I had a good time playing it.
