Pros:

This course is full of challenging and fun lines. The designer of the course did a phenomenal job of using the land to the best of its offering. It is nice they designed it as a turn-around course to get the full 18 in. Rubber Tee-pads, Bulletin Board, Benches, Trash Cans, Brooms, Baskets, Signage, and maintenance is all top notch !

Cons:

None to speak of

Other Thoughts:

Some Common Sense is needed to play this course. Being an out and back style, if there are people throwing in front of you, you may want to allow them to clear, or announce your intentions.

More intriguing than I was expecting 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 9, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

First, let me express my thanks to Neil (spelling?), who guided me through the course today, and whom I hope was able to find his disc! (If it helps any, someone reported a green star destroyer found at Mt Airy today …but I'm fairly certain your throw wasn't 90 miles from where you thought it was… :) A helpful and friendly local is always a plus, and the grounds crew were out mowing this beautiful, cool July morning, so my experience on the course had a great vibe.

This ten basket course boasts some really interesting lines of flight, technical challenges, and excellent amenities. From large, level, grippy rubber mat tee pads on gravel bases, to fully informative signage and a FANTASTIC kiosk set up at hole 1, to the decent MVP baskets, they've got a lot of heart and effort invested in this new course. Each tee has a small broom in case it's needed, and areas where they do not want traffic are roped off. There's plenty of parking*.

The holes here present a significant range of variety and challenge. Even though they didn't have any elevation to use, there are tree lines, shrub paths and even a pond that may come into play. You get to throw tight, technical wooded lanes and four or five medium long shots in the wide fairway bordering the 'out and back' section of the course. The 500+ footer does require control for your first throw, as it plays between the edges of the rough (you do NOT want to be IN!). I was actually surprised at the challenge level they've gone with here: enough to give this older player a few 'testers', and likely in the intermediate to advanced range of difficulty. Even though they're likely to have relative beginners playing, they should not expect an easy go of it.

Cons:

…which brings me to the obvious concern: if there are multiple groups of players on the course at one time, you would hope that there are some with experience, as the course plays through many, many 'blind' lanes, and reverses flow after hole 10. The 11th is the long hole, and plays back between two previous targets (and tee pads), right at the length that becomes a bit dangerous for a 'hit by disc' event. Tee pads are used in both directions, and are almost always within circle one of the adjacent basket. Ideally, this is a course best suited to single cards at a time, and not multiple sets of players. Even Neil mentioned if the parking area (*) has many cars near hole 1, you might want to look for another place to play that day.

Since I tend to evaluate courses based on safety, fun, and challenge (in that order), I'd have to say this course goes against my grain …yet I found it intriguing in the challenge (and even fun factor) of some of the skills required to shoot a low score. It's a con to me that it plays as a (semi?) public course, but it would be beautiful for a private layout. Perhaps tee times and reservations? Then you could be slightly more reassured that you're not going to hit somebody (or get hit yourself).

Other Thoughts:

Not sure if it's a pro or a con: Hole 3/18 has a tiny, twisty lane that snakes through the shrubbery, and is the 'intended' fairway. I was torn whether to call it 'puzzling' or simply 'aMAZEing!', but if played as designed, it can't be managed in a single shot. No way. But hyzering out over the pond (on hole 3) would work for bigger arms. Risks: water, thick rough, or hitting folks you didn't know were playing holes 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 17 or 18 could be the result.

The wooded holes have a great deal of challenge, but are playable for the controlled thrower. The summer undergrowth is unfortunately very thick, and you may be well within range of the basket, but still have to spend some time looking for a disc. Play in groups, use spotters, or try in the winter? I envision a time in the future, as they thin out the rough, that this course will mature into a more forgiving nature.

Finally, remember this is a church course, so please play respectfully, and during appropriate hours

Don't Forget To Yell FORE !! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 13, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

Life In Christ Fellowship in a nondenominational church located just off of I-70 , west of Columbus . They have decided to design and maintain a disc golf course on part of their grounds . There is plenty of parking close to the kiosk and the first hole . I didn't see a bathroom open , and since the church services were over on the Sunday late afternoon that I was there , I am not sure you can use theirs .
-- THE EQUIPMENT -- There is a nice kiosk near hole 1 . People are putting found discs ( I found one , too , and called the owner to pick it up ) up in the Kiosk roof's supports . There is also a garbage can near the kiosk , which was the only one I remember seeing . Please carry out what you carry in .
The course advertises 18 holes , and they utilize the tees and baskets to its utmost . There are 10 large springy rubber tee pads to share with the 18 holes . There are a large 5' X 9' . You might use it pointed one way towards a basket , and use it the other way coming back .
The tee signs are good. Very descriptive , they give you hole number , par , distance flight path , and even a commandment . Since there was no commandment that said , "Thou Shall no covet thy neighbor's drive , I was inclined to use a mulligan or 2 during my round . The baskets are the MVP Black Hole , which were adequate .
Worth mentioning. They had some cool little brooms attached to the tee signs for you to brush off needy tee pads .
-- THE LANDSCAPE -- The course plays mostly flat or slightly sloping . Much of it is kind of park style , with a few woods holes at the beginning and end . A large pond may come into play on holes 1 and maybe 17 . There is a small gulley that will come into play also on 2 & 17 . Grass cutting may have been neglected as of late , at the grass was at least ankle deep , to higher . The overgrowth can be brutal ( see cons ) .
-- THE HIGHLIGHTS -- No highlight holes , but a couple of interesting ones . #3 is a par 4 298' hole that starts with a hard left to a landing zone in a gulley and on a narrow path . The basket is out of the brush and a hard right to the basket .
Best hole to me was #11 , 531' where you drive to an opening that releases a 2nd drive ( maybe approach ) uphill to the basket , which has brush on the right and behind it .
__ THE TIME -- I was turned around and a little confused here , so it took me and hour and 10 minutes to play the course . A foursome that had most of the course to theirselves will get through in a little under 2 hours .
-- I don't know if the course has a large following or not , and there was 1 other person out on the course when I was . You might have this place exclusively yours on off-peak times.

Cons:

Safety - They have consolidated this course that should hold 9 holes into a crowded 18 . There are baskets overlapping fairways , blind shots that might go into other players , baskets close to tee pads . All I can say is , " Heads Up " !
Navigation -- You need to print the map here . It sounds easy to go out for 10 holes , then play all holes coming back , but it's not . I had to backtrack to play 14 . Seeing 3 baskets at a time plus tee pads will do that to you .
Disc Risk -- Medium . If the course was longer , I would have rated it higher . The grass was high , the bushes were thick , and if you wander out of the fairways and into the course framing brush here , you disc might bs a goner .The overgrowth with its thorns can break skin . The pond should be out of play and hard to throw into .
Crowding -- I imagine that there will be waits if several groups play at once ., since baskets and tee pads are shared . Keep this in mind if you play during popular hours .
Easy , Lack Of Wow -- Some will be disappointed in the lack of challenging holes . This may be by design , as the church may not want the congregation and locals to feel intimidated . A couple of holes make it hard or impossible to get to like 3 , 17 , 6 & 14 .

Other Thoughts:

Don't let my course review score influence a chance to play . This was a good course placement to open up the I-70 Columbus - Dayton Corridor . The course is inexpensive advertising for Life In Christ Fellowship Church , and a way of saying Hi and inviting the public and curious to drop by . I think , with a few tweaks , the course could be a staple to the Columbus disc golf world . Any course that ever has a donation box , drop a couple of dollars in .
MY RECOMMENDATION -- For the congregation and the newbies , you may want to bring spotters if you want to play here . Same with families . Some control will help you leave with the discs you came with . When I set that guy's disc up in the wood supports of the kiosk , his disc had company . If you are a local living in the Jefferson area , this course is okay for you . Intermediates and up might want to head toward Veteran's , unless living down the street . Travelers might step off of I-70 to play a few holes out and back , just to pump blood back into their legs . Course Baggers , a good way to pick up another course while collecting in Columbus .

Caution: Flying Discs 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 6, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Kiosk is well-stocked with scorecards and pencils, a diagram of the course layout, and rules posted. Plenty of parking directly by hole 1.
- Tee signs are in good shape, easy to find, and have the necessary information.
- The 10 MVP baskets are in great shape and catch well.
- There are a handful of wooded holes that provide a change of pace from the otherwise mostly-open fairways.

Cons:

- The out-and-back layout results in playing holes in reverse on the "back 9". Fairways, tees, and baskets are shared on most of the holes. I guess this would not be a problem if you're alone on the course, but the day I played (early March) there were 5 other groups.
- Tees are too close to baskets, and in some cases are actually in the fairway of other holes. Four holes overlap at a basket/nearby tee in SEVEN different places on the course. Add in blind shots and you've got a lot of potential for injury.

Other Thoughts:

- Difficulty and challenge seem to be for appropriate for recreational players, consistent with the tees being red. All but 2 holes are under 300'.
- Tee pads are rubber mats over gravel. They're large enough and pretty flat.
- I played in early March, and the fairways and rough were all low, but from what I could tell the fairways are reasonably sized. I'm guessing conditions will not always be so nice - I did see some a bit of thorny vegetation just off the fairways. A lot will depend on how well they keep up with course maintenance and mowing.
- As I mentioned in the cons, the safety concerns are significant in both number and severity. Even in winter there are partially-to-completely blind tee shots that either pass or approach other tees. I imagine this will be even worse during the summer when the leaves are out. The shared-fairway/tee/basket design allowed for 18 holes with only 10 baskets and 11 tees, but comes at a cost.
- I would have rated this around a 2.5, but because of the safety concerns I'm deducting a full point. With multiple groups on the course, it's one of the most dangerous layouts I've seen. I seem to be in the minority, but I prefer 9 good holes to 18 mediocre ones, and for me this falls into the would-have-been-better-as-a-9-hole category.

Family Friendliness Rating: 1.5, I guess (0.5 when course is busy, 2.5 when you're the only ones)
PROS: Holes are short enough for kids to play. Pretty easy to push a large-wheel stroller around here, just a couple wet spots to deal with.

CONS: Safety concerns mentioned above. There's also a pond that could come into play on 2 and 17.

Makes the Best of Limited Space 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Quiet country course. Surprisingly challenging given the generally short basket distances. Rubber tees give nice grip for the run-up, but I wonder how long they'll last?

Cons:

Like many courses, there's a few baskets that play almost literally in the woods. I understand wanting to have a "challenge", but trying to place a disc through extremely narrow paths is not very much fun, and carries with it the chance of losing discs pretty easily.

Other Thoughts:

I'm always happy to see more courses popping up! I can tell the designers put a lot of thought and love into the course, trying to make the best out of a fairly limited space.
