Pros:

Marr Park has a nice flow through several different types of shot lines and gaps. A bit of elevation here and there with a couple greens that are difficult to get to in one shot. Concrete tees add to the experience.

Hitting your lines is the name of the game. Forehands on 2 and 8, turnover backhand that settles softly on 6 and a long, straight backhand on 5 and 9 are some of the most important lines to hit, and they're all pretty rewarding if you do.

The creek hiding behind the greens of 6, 7, and 9 is a good addition to force some distance control out of drives. Placing an emphasis on discing down and getting the shot right rather than just brute forcing it with a distance driver is another element of challenging course design.

Trees guard the forehand approach on 2 (is it really a drive at only 155ft?), the green of 6 slopes away into the creek, 3 is guarded by the shelter (more on that later) and 9's green is tucked behind a wall of brush just thick enough that the only play for a two is to go around and skip. This goes to prove that lots of tees and pins were placed to provide a stiff challenge.

Cons:

The tee signs are aging poorly, and the baskets suck. Along these lines, the fairways of 3 and 4 have almost no grass to speak of, so the dirt/mud is only offset by the gravel path through that area.

There's a picnic shelter in the middle of 3's fairway. Obviously that takes this hole out of play if it's in use, but who on earth thought that was a good idea? The basketball court and playground in close proximity to Hole 7 are also a pain to deal with.

Hole 1 is just a dead straight laser, Hole 4 has teeny tiny gaps to hit, and Hole 8 is an easy forehand skip. While still testing different shots, it's not very difficult in comparison to the rest of the course.

Other Thoughts:

Marr has a lot of difficult lines to hit and demands several different shot shapes, which shows that the designers were thoughtful when they planned the course in the very limited space they were given. A few tree removals and maybe taking out that old shelter on 3 and there's not much else to improve on here except the baskets.

I can't really recommend this course unless you just really want to bag it. It provides plenty of small challenges, but never really puts them together to create anything special.

Makes a quick round 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 5, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Marr Park is the only course in the area and is an quick one to play, with easy navigation. New concrete tee pads were installed recently, clearing up some confusion with teeing areas. Signage is okay, but it shows distance to the basket which is good enough for me.

There are a lot of styles of holes here that won't be found many other places, which makes this a good course to practice wooded upshots, threading through trees. There are tall, mature trees on every hole that take out nearly all "over the top" lines. The tunnel shots on holes 3 and 4 are very challenging, and there are several options on 5, no matter your skill level or how your first shot lands.

The creek that comes into play on several holes offers a nice challenge, punishes errant shots, but doesn't give too much of a risk of losing a disc since it's pretty shallow. The barbed wire fence on holes 4 and 5 is not in good shape, so it's easy to retrieve discs from the other side.

Cons:

The baskets are terrible. Spit-outs, while annoying, will be common on this course. Signage is also terrible - the maps are useless. At least it's easy to tell where the next hole is.

Many of the lines through the trees are... unusual, that wouldn't be found on good courses. The gaps on hole 4 are tiny, and hole 9 has pretty much no clear gap through a wall of trees. The lines also favor RHFH shots, at least for me, because the thickest woods are usually on the right side of the fairway, so playing this course many times has dampened by backhand skills.

The barbed wire fence on holes 4 and 5 can be climbed but makes searching for discs unnecessarily long.

This is a multi-use park. There is a picnic shelter on holes 3 and 4 that is a real obstacle, and makes those holes unplayable if there's people inside. There's also a lousy basketball court and playground, a locked bathroom, and a walking trail that comes into play on most holes. It's not uncommon to see people hanging around on a fairway or exploring the creek.

Other Thoughts:

This is a short course, so it takes two rounds to get any real amount of fun in.

At the end of the day, no one is doing much real work around here for the disc golf course particularly, which makes things like alternate pins impossible to manage. I'm glad there's cement tees now, but this course doesn't provide enough good holes to warrant anything higher than a 2 for me.

Nice little neighborhood DGC 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 3, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

I like playing courses like this, especially after meeting Will (local, who wants to establish DG more in the area. With teaching kids with the EDGE program and other ways. I gave him a few more ideas and left knowing that this little course will become regularly played moreso with him leading the way-------- - +

Lot of ACE runs for advanced players, but a fair course overall for the space given.

New cement tee pads.

Bridges leading over creek to all the holes.

Cons:

Needs newer tee signs (Not that the current ones we're bad, but they we're the old generic DGA tee signs and some of the signs didn't show where the next tee was)

# 3 played towards a pavilion (I'm guessing that this pavilion isn't used much. And to give this con a twist, I guess this pavilion could be blessing as it could be used for tournament central as it's close to the begining of the course).

Not very big of a parking lot.

The back 2 holes (#8 & #9) we're way back in the park. After playing # 9 it's a long walk back to #1 or the parking lot.

Other Thoughts:

I felt # 8 could be lengthened all the way back in the park and make # 9 a little longer by pushing it back a little if my suggestion to # 8 is done. also # 9 needs the trees cleaned up by loping them up a little so theres a fair play through them near the cement wall.
