Great beginner/intermediate course. 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 14, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Well maintained
-Clearly marked
-Ample parking
-Fairly beginner friendly
-A few unique holes
-Mostly flat

Cons:

-Tee pads are on the bare ground
- Only 9 holes

Other Thoughts:

I was visiting from out of town for a wedding and I stopped by this park before heading back home. I chose this course because it seemed fairly beginner friendly, and I had my wife with me who was playing for her first time.

We both had a lot of fun on this course and with the majority of the holes being pretty open, my wife was able to have fun despite not knowing what she was doing. I would say that this course is beginner friendly, but a few of the holes offer different shots that will challenge any intermediate/advanced player as well. Challenging holes include tight/low ceiling wooded shots, straight on shots but with trees in the way, a creek in the middle of a fairway, a pond on the side of a fairway, fence rows, and more. The course is fairly flat for the most part, so those who don't like hiking up and down steep hills will enjoy that.

I like how well maintained this course is. The grass was freshly cut and well maintained. Tee pads all had nice signs at them (unfortunately, they are not concrete). There were a few benches throughout the park. There were arrows on the bottom of each basket pointing you towards the next tee box. For being a newer course, they've put a lot of work into this park to make it enjoyable for everyone.

Medina’s Newest Addition! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 21, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Update 5/29/18:

The leaves have come in and made the course slightly more challenging with a few hidden pin positions. #8 could be unplayable during the summer because the fairway is used for extra parking. First time having issues with pedestrians, but it might be an isolated incident. The course is just stunning with all the leaves on the trees. #5 is now one of my favorite holes in Medina, blind pin over a creek downhill.

This cool 9-holer is located at the Medina Assembly of God's Sports Complex (A few minutes away from the church itself). The complex has everything from trails, to baseball fields, soccer, playgrounds, and of course, the disc golf course.

+ If you play in the wee hours of the morning like I did, you'll be welcomed by the sound of roosters waking up the neighbors. It's a pretty piece of property surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. Definitely not an eye sore!

+ The detail put into this one is really remarkable. There's nice signs, navigational arrows, bridges, etc. on every hole. The wooded holes are cleared of underbrush and debris. Really polished!

+ Lots of different lines to play on most holes. Well designed with the space given!

+ You'll never get lost here, with or without a map! Clear directional arrows point you to the next tee on every hole.

+Very good for beginners. Not overly difficult, but not a pitch and put either. There's a few shots that appeal to both beginners and advanced players alike.

+ Creek comes into play on a couple of holes for a little bit of added difficulty.

+ There's a few holes with elevation changes and interesting shots. I really loved the stretch of 5-7. These are tough birdies!

+ The tee signs are basic, but they serve their purpose and look pretty good! They look more like ball golf tee signs.

+ Only one pin position per hole (Pro for me, may be a con for others).

Cons:

- Only one set of tees per hole, and they're natural. I think there's enough room to add an additional set behind the reds.

- Advanced players will score well here pretty much every round. Again, I'd like to see a set of long tees to go with the shorts.

- Long walk from #4 to #5. It has a pretty nice view of the stables so I don't mind it much.

- Only 9 holes, so my max rating for a course would be a 4.0.

- I could see issues with pedestrian traffic when baseball/soccer is going on. Haven't seen an issue though so don't believe it until you see it.

- #9 ends a little ways away from #1. You have to follow the path next to #1 and #2 to get back to the parking lot.

Other Thoughts:

Lots of detail was put into this hidden gem about 5 minutes from downtown Medina. Looks like it was finished up late fall, so come out and test it! Great for beginners, and fun for advanced players as well.
