Pros:
+ A shout out to the new long basket on #11 (378' par three throwing into a new clearing in the woods). This really makes the run of #10 - #12 on the Longs into a challenge
+ Most tees are now pavers (a few carpets and turf still waiting to be redone). Signage has been updated, and clips have been added to the tops of the baskets indicating direction to the next tee. Navigation is pretty simple, with the exception of the long pathway to the short tee on #8. A few arrows would help reassure you that you haven't wandered off on a hiking trail
+ A few new DisCatcher baskets, although most on both layouts remain the old DGAs. A wooden fence has been installed to guard the green on #6 (it used to be woodpiles). An elevated basket was added to #16 (Long) a year or so ago
+ Short and Long layouts to increase playability and challenge (Longs add 1300' to the 5000' Shorts, but also add 5 strokes). Most of the change is by adding Long tees. I think only holes 6, 7 and 18 play the same. The Long tees significantly reshape a lot of the holes to change up the challenge, adding or eliminating doglegs, or bringing different trees into the picture. Two of the open holes just put a premium on added distance (#10 changes from 447' to 612' while staying a par 4, and the longest version of #12 also stretches out to a 600' par 4)
+ Very good mix of open and wooded, straight, right and left turning holes
Cons:
- The course is very flat, and many holes aren't very memorable. The challenge is the trees and the hole shapes, not controlling for elevation changes. The holes are fun; they're challenging - but difficult to recall visually
Other Thoughts:
~ Very cart-friendly
~ Good local club and volunteers run regular tournaments. Great to see ongoing improvements
