Shoot the Moose 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 10, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Pretty open course for NH. The views are great especially at the right time of year.
Short and technical and great confidence builder. Look at the tee signs to see how many ACES have been made here. Play with a group and record your official score to add yourself to those panels.
Lots of elevation and good variety of shots. New tee pads give new looks and lengthen a few holes to make it more challenging.
You may not shoot under par your first time but if you play it right you can have a great score.

Cons:

Location. I mean this could be a positive as well as there is nothing really close to it but by that, there is nothing really close to it. It's in Brookfield and probably 2.5 miles off Rte 16, 14 miles from Ossipee, 13 from Wolfboro, 18 from Rochester, just there isn't much close. This could be a positive for golfing as it's quiet but you aren't doing anything but golf is what i'm saying.
The elevation can be a trek. If you have bad knees this will be a tough course. You are up and down the lower part of the mountain.
Could be considered simple course. It's not a negative for me and my game or anyone learning to play and wanting to get better but if you are a pro or seasoned vet, unless you are looking to go for your ACES this might be below your skill level on most holes.

Other Thoughts:

Hole 1 - slight uphill, on the hill. RHBH shot will set into the bank and avoid roll away.

Hole 2 - downhill and open. Go for the basket.

Hole 3 - enter the treeline and throw is back uphill a bit under or around the 1 tree.

Hole 4 - back across the driveway slightly downhill. some can make it in 1, some will be a long putt attempt or maybe a layup approach

Hole 5 - got a little hill bank to contend with on the right and a line of trees on the left which guard a brook OB. keep it straight or hyzer over the bank.

Hole 6 - toss uphill over or around a little mound into a short basket

Hole 7 - LHBH dream on the dogleg right. Get around the tree branches for this short drop in. new tee box straightens it out some but lengthens the hole

Hole 8 - putt or approach through some trees, new tee box is up in the woods a bit more with a narrower gap to shoot

Hole 9 - sweeping dogleg left. original tee you can find a nice skip to the basket

Hole 10 - Grandmothers house - over the river and through the woods. ok you actually don't throw over the river but it plays right along side on the left. Not that you will probably get over there.

Hole 11 - Start your climb. Uphill short. This is just a warm up. New tee is a bit more dogleg left.

Hole 12 - Like I said climb. This hole starts a little flat before another dogleg left and straight up hill. Trees scattered through the middle of the fairway.

Hole 13 - for just a second let's go downhill again. blind shot just over the ridge, go find it on your first time because you may hit it.

Hole 14 - walk across the brook to a straight mid range

Hole 15 - back uphill, I haven't played the new tee here but it doubles the length of the hole

Hole 16 - up a little more, again the new tee doubles the length and I haven't tried but the shots are also not as open as the shorter tees

Hole 17 - break out the putter and don't let it skip or run long as you will drop it over an embankment and take an Eagle or gimme birdie in a double bogey quickly

Hole 18 - bring you cannon. This is where you can let it fly. And by all means pause take a breath and take a picture. Throw a few discs just to do so. Good space run up for the big drive and watch your disc sail. Only obstacle is losing a disc in the trees really. Watch the wind however so you pick the right disc. And the putt is not a gimme on a 6 foot elevated Moose Rack basket. Signature.

Well worth the $5 and the drive but go with someone and enjoy the trip. Take some pictures.
