Pros:

Beautiful park with kids playing soccer, jungle gym/kids play area, skate park, hiking trails, and they also fit in a cool little 9-hole course!
Great baskets, great tee-pads, and tee signs!
Course utilizes elevation very well, making for some memorable and very fun shots.
3 big downhill shots, but only one that requires a big bomb (the tower of power shot)
Lots of cool technical shots but many lines to the basket
Some nice views from on top of the hill
Good alternative to GGP. Not near as good, but with plenty of fun shots and not at all crowded

Cons:

Not too clear on where to start, no signs even mentioning there is a disc golf course there.(not that I saw) Hole 1's teepad is located to the right of the skatepark.
I believe 1 or 2 holes cross fairways, potential for trouble.
Could not find the teepad for #7, but there was a teesign and a basket.  I shot from in front of the teesign (matted down grass suggests that most people shoot from there.)
Some poison oak OFF the fairway

Other Thoughts:

This was a very cool course for what they had to work with. The downhill shots were a lot of fun. Holes 2 and three were awesome holes that could be on any great courses. I only played it once because it was getting dark on, but I finished it fairly quickly and I would have played it again. I will play it again when I'm in town, and I recommend if you are nearby play it,  will take only an hour or so.

Pros:

Some long holes.
Water fountain right in middle of course.
Clean bathrooms.
Friendly people.
Just about every hole has an elevation change.

Cons:

Alot of poison oak.
A few of the holes cross each other slightly.
Close to walking paths.

Other Thoughts:

I thought this course was fun to play. Holes #4 and #6 are downhill rippers that will boost your ego with long drives. :) I missed hole 8 completely on my first round, due to misleading signage, but managed to find it on my second time through.

Challenges for al levels, but watch the poison oak! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 23, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Quiet suburban setting;
Lots of parking;
Variety of holes to challenge you;
Playground, skate park, picnic area and restrooms all nearby

Cons:

POISON OAK! It is everywhere on the course-leaflets 3 let is be; berries white poisonous sight!

Other Thoughts:

I enjoy Moraga Commons as a good challenge. There are shots up hill and down hill and over gullies and ditches. On some of the downhill shots you can really let it fly!
Keep an eye on those disc as they dive into the brush because inevitably you will hit the poison oak. This course is really defined by it since it makes use of the "back 40" in Moraga Commons Park. In the hills of California you will always find poison oak and Moraga Commons Park has more than its fair share. Use caution when searching for your discs in the brush.

Some poison oak tips: if you brush up against it make sure that you wash up with soap and water after your round to get rid of the oils that commonly cause skin irritation. If your discs go into the brush, assume that they hit some poison oak and wash them off with soap and water after your round. Don't just do the old towel wipe...the oils from the poison oak will get on your towel and be spread wherever that towel goes. Moraga Commons is a fun course, but requires a little preventive personal care when you play it.

Challenging Hill-rover 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 13, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-Good use of the land
-Long throws mixed in with some short holes.
-Good change in elevation.

A good course with a nice mix of holes that will challenge the good players. The course uses the land well where the holes play over rolling hills with pars available with good drives. Many of the holes run up and down a hill and the shots will require good drives. Overall the course will improve your game with the variation in the fairways.

Cons:

-A few holes play over a walkway.
-Can get hot in the summer.
-Out of the way.

If you live in the area it is a nice course to have in your backyard. It is worth the drive from Oakland and a nice course to try.

Pros:

Super-legit course; perhaps best 9-holer in the East Bay Area. Fun and impressive layout & elevation variation with some challenging basket positions. Generous amount of land for 9 holes. Nice tee boxes.

Cons:

Grass is kinda long right now.

Other Thoughts:

Be sure to park next to the skate park along the wooden fence, as it'll save a longer walk from the main parking lot. I look forward to many more rounds here!

Uniqueness: B (spacious for 9 holes; good use of elevation changes & landscape)

Fun 9 Holer W/Three Big Down Hill Throws! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 20, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Moraga Commons is a mostly pretty multi-use park with all the usual amenities. The course for the most part stays away from the other park users and does an excellent job of utilizing the parks naturally hilly terrain. The signs and teepads are both excellent with oversized pads built with building blocks and informative signs. This is no pitch and putt. The course will challenge recreational up to advanced players but families can play and enjoy it. There are three chances for long downhill bombs. #'s 4, 6 and 9 all offer you a chance for fun, challenging downhill throws ranging 350' to 425'. There were no holes here that I didn't enjoy, none that I would consider throwaways. The baskets were older but caught well. Navigation was easy. There were benches to sit in the shade no less.

Cons:

When we played in late August, the ground was dry and parched and extremely broken and uneven in places making walking on it uncomfortable. Watch out for the poison oak in a couple of places.

Other Thoughts:

This is just a very enjoyable little nine hole course. The three downhill holes kind of make the course in my opinion. They're just the holes that one dreams about and keeps you coming back. # 9 is aceable with the right touch. Come visit Moraga Commons and see for yourself.

Pros:

Utilizes slopes very nicely. Good range of holes and players. Water fountain to fill up water bottles. Near downtown so you can get food if you want.

Cons:

Can get muddy. Also, some of the signs aren't updated like the basket used to be on the left, but now is on right. Is also close to the park and pathways.

Other Thoughts:

Watch out for wind. Signature hole is hole 6(Tower of Power) next to big power line.

Excellent course for a 9 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 18, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Intelligent use of natural slopes.
-Mixture of moderately wooded and open shots all of which make some use of a slope of at least eight feet.
-Clearly marked area of poison oak which is used as a natural barrier on holes 6.
-Well drawn and labeled maps for each hole.

Cons:

-Small area
-Some holes placed close to walking paths or rec areas

Other Thoughts:

#1 Has been moved recently, now it is past the upslope on the right with trees and an moderate incline to enhance the over or around hill shot.
#2 Hasn't changed much shot goes over a 20 foot deep ditch with brush on the left side and a few trees on either side of the fairway.
#3 Has moved from the much feared corner to the other side of the ditch, adding about fifty feet to the hole but subtracting a degree of technical quality.
#4 is the first of the top of the hill power shots, if you can clear the trees you might be able to get an easy 2, but watch the backstop, you may not find your disc.
#5 Is straight uphill, drains stamina and will to live.
#6 Top of hill shot. Apparently according to the pictures i've seen recently posted. this hole now shoots a little bit over the poison oak and ends right in front of the tee for #7, i haven't played since the modifications but it seems like this will slow down play on both #6 and #7. I want to know how many of these modifications are being made by disc golf players and how many are made by suburban bureaucrats.
#7 Shoots back towards the poison oak but the pin has been moved to the front of the trees instead of in the middle that made every upshot threaten to got into the poison oak.,
#8 plays across the hill on the left side with a line of trees in the center lining a gravel path with thick brush guarding the right boundary. Pin is also placed on a tricky slope, make sure your shot sticks, either in the basket or up close, if not it might roll for 30 feet.
#9 Best hole of the course, long shot over trees but high enough teepad for clear skys. This is the hole that keeps me going through the frustrating slopes that always catch me unprepared.

Good Course / Beautiful Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 11, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

• Pretty wide open
• Decent tee boxes
• Easy to find
• Beautiful park overall with lots of activities
• Friendly folks

Cons:

• Poison Oak along one valley making you think twice before going long on certain holes
• A little cross traffic on some holes

Other Thoughts:

Tips:
• You can park along the street near the skate park to get close to #1 but if you park in the parking lot, it'll put you next to the restrooms (which are well maintained).
• There's also a good size field by the stage to warm up.
• I wouldn't recommend this course after it's rained as it can get quite sticky muddy.

Random Thoughts:
This is a good course with a good variety of holes for only having 9 total. It also produces a decent workout with all the hiking up and down the hillside. There are quite a few bushy trees about which could mean losing a disc should you choose to 'go for it' on a couple holes. There are also some sneaky valleys on certain holes which produces a deceptive challenge, meaning you may be 10 ft. away on a putt and then miss and end up 20 ft. away coming back.

Bottom line: It's a good course for us beginners and a nice park overall.

East Bay Hills 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 12, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Well marked trails and tees
Always friendly people on the course
There are some nice long shots where you can let it rip (#2, #6)
Wide variety of skill shots required and well placed tees will challenge even advanced players
New pin locations for #6, #7 & #9 helped each one differently - #6 basket is under the power lines and now takes the homes further out of play, #7 is blind now so an ace is much more difficult and #9 was moved away from the park structure so less reason to yell 'fore' on that one
#7 was also made much more challenging by movig that pin back and behind some trees
This course is hilly and provides great excersize

Cons:

Homes are close to #3 & #6 so be carefull with hard backhand shots esp with the Westerly winds
Poison Oak is everywhere - on #2, #3, #6 and behind #4

Other Thoughts:

This course will take awhile to master. The strong westerly winds in the afternoon add even more challenge. I defintiely recomend going out of your way to play this one - it'll be well worth your time.

Windy Hill 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 19, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course plays up, down and across the large, mostly-open-but-scattered-with-trees hill that makes up much of a very nice park. Having a picnic table, benches, and water fountain at the top of the hill where tees #4 and #9 are located are nice touches, and the views of the surrounding hills are quite nice. The park has bathrooms, water fountains, and many things for kids and families to do, mostly not near the disc golf course. Petrol and food options are not very far away.

Cons:

Some crossing fairways and a couple holes where a runaway, wind-blown disc could threaten non-players. Single tee/basket.

Other Thoughts:

An easy course to navigate with signs and distance information at each tee location. Six of the nine tee locations are long-n-wide and composed of concrete blocks, one is a rubber mat, and two are dirt. Distances range from 285' to 431', average about 315'. The course starts you with two ~300', up-slope, right-turning shots with a few trees to avoid. After playing #3, a 300' straight shot along the top of the hill, you come to your first major downhill hole at #4, 322' away and to the left - an errant toss here could threaten tee #5 and/or the horseshoe pits. Number 5 bring you back 300' up the slope, to #6, the longest (431') hole, another major downhill shot, but this time with some large trees to deal with mid-flight, and a slightly uphill pin location. Number 7 has you throwing back across the fairway you just played over to a well tree-guarded basket 285' away. Number 8 is a difficult hole, up/cross slope with scattered trees the entire way to the basket almost 350' away - this hole also crosses #6's flight path. Finally, a little stroll up to #9, again at the top of the hill, with another throw similar to #4's - 317' away, slightly left, with a walking path and building in danger if you throw too far and right - a real possibility with the constant wind here.

Closest parking to tee #1 is not in the parking lot off St. Mary's Rd, but in the parallel spots along Moraga Rd.

The course is a lot of fun to play, and watch your shots fly! There are many long and turning shots required to counter the scattered trees and elevation. Getting to watch your disc soar on downhill holes 4, 9, but especially 6, where you can really cut loose because of the extra distance and no non-players to worry about, is a blast.

Tougher than it looks 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 17, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Never boring, challenging holes. #4,6,9 downhill are fun, nice view of the area.
A few mean ace runs.
Very good variety of shots, I use RHBH, Forehand and Thumbers here.

Cons:

10 min drive off the freeway, but its a nice relaxing drive under trees.
Muddy time is SO bad. The mud adds to itself and never comes off your shoes. Next thing you know you got 6" stilletos.

Other Thoughts:

#6 Is awesome when you get a good rip. I have been successfull with a Pro Leopard there lately. It is notorious for missing discs. Turnovers to the right, or accidental hyzer bombs to the left. Dont mind the big dog barking at you while you search. Number 8 in the long pin position is humbling and laughing at you the whole time.
Finally pard (3) number 8 in long position. Felt good.

An e. bay must play 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 21, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Holes all have decent distance and are well laid out. Some trees as obstacles but always an opportunity for a good drive on all the holes. #6 is beautiful and #4 and #9 are fun downhill holes. The holes are interesting enough to play twice in a day. When we played it was super windy and a bit wet, which made the course quite challenging. I could imagine it being a lot easier on a nice day.

Cons:

The only major cons are that it is only 9 holes, and the grass is really long (at least in early spring) making it a bit hard to find your disc. A few holes go straight uphill, which makes them tough, but it isn't so bad as to be annoying.

Other Thoughts:

Definitely play here if you are nearby. Very much worth it.

Decent Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 27, 2007 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

No pedestrian issues, the course area is typically disc golfers only. Two or three very nice holes, particularly #6, a long downhill shot with the basket near a large power tower. There are a couple of very nicely done tee boxes made from hand laid bricks.

Cons:

Some tees are dirt and fairly sketchy, particularly if it has rained recently. Hole design is typically open and often straight up or down a hill. At least one basket is super old, rusty, and has only a single set of chains.

Other Thoughts:

Nasty poison oak down in the creek behind #4's basket, and it's easy to overthrow down there with the downhill slope.
