Murrieta Rattlers Club embraces the game, takes pride in the course, maintains a positive relationship with the city and hosts regular work days for course improvements.

Holes 13, 14 and 17 are the only holes with grass landing areas for drives. Not much can be done about that, though, the terrain is what it is. Lots of dirt and debris (mostly broken tree branches) on the arroyo holes.

Definitely worth the drive to play and I'm grateful to have a great course close to home.
Beginners need to take advantage of the short pads and play from there.

The Murrieta course is not your typical green fairways and wide open shots. The course presents refreshing obstacles between you and your par score.

For advanced players, the course offers multiple levels of difficulty that include blind shots, unpredictable wind conditions, long basket positions, and technical shots. If you have played the courses in socal the course seems to be a mix of Brengle Terrace and Huntington Beach. The local club has added multiple pin positions so if you play the course a few times a month you will play different layouts often.

The course has a few holes where you can let loose and bomb your discs (a couple 400+ft and an almost 500ft). You'll almost certainly find yourself using your technical skill to layup or get out of the rough--which there is a good amount of.

If you live in SoCal and play disc golf you should be able to say you played Mountain Pride. Even better if you finish under par.

While it's a fun course for both beginners and advanced players - beginners can get caught off guard if they try to play from the long tee pads. Highly suggest starting from the short pads and getting used to the course layout and basket positions.

For those who are older and want something more level, this course could be hard on you. The course provides a hiking-like experience and you will go up and down a few times.

There is a map near the baseball field posted on the board for people new to the course. The worst thing you can do is start at the wrong pad and start throwing. You will lose a disc or two. This is the only complaint I've heard about the course and typically it's from people who don't know which pad to throw from. The course is a challenging one and if you don't have the arm to throw then start from the short pads and have fun!

the place is still real rough around the edges. over time the fairways figure to become more clearly defined.
without having a map or a guide it is super challenging to figure out the layout.
the course looks to be in a flood zone. i wouldnt want to be anywhere near there if things were wet.

part of the amazing elevation changes involves concrete sidings (a la flood walls) that are INCREDIBLY steep and terribly slippery. my 5 and 7 year old kids have played dozens of courses across the nation, but this was the first time they ever literally had to slide down on their butts to safely get down from a basket.

Very fun and challenging course! There are some straight forward baskets and some that are very difficult. Great variety of shots and I did not have to throw it overhand even once. Long and short, left and right. A lot of fun

There are some blind shots and you may end up in some serious bush. Easy to loose plastic. Use a spotter.

Great variation of hole locations. Great variety of hyzer an hyzer and straight shots, tees as well, not too overgrown. Great for all skill levels and the course is well maintained. I gotta give it to the rattlers, they are doing a wonderful job with this course. Many improvements since the last time I plated there, especially the additional 9 holes. Love the varied tee boxes makes for a very interesting rounds.

no signage with distance and hole location. A little more walking but no biggie. Tee boxes are a little rough but I've heard that they will get new ones sometime soon.

I really enjoyed playing this course. The elevation changes made for some really interesting shots. In some cases I did my best to judge the exact distance of trees or bushes in relationship to the pins but ultimately was wrong. This made the course feel a lot more technical than it looks and made for a really fun round.

I especially enjoyed the back nine.

Favorite Hole - Hole 12, Great long Hyzer shot over the valley.

Least Favorite Hole - Hole 4, Good Hole but I really couldn't see a great line without throwing a Hammer.

I will definitely be back.

Lots of fun holes with a couple of elevation shots, not to many long holes but some what technical course. Stay in the fairway and you'll have a fun day.

Tee pads are slippery in early morning play or in rainy weather. A couple of crossing holes that are dangerous to the average player with not much control of there discs. Hole 10 is a cool hole but just doesn't go with the flow of the course at all.

3.9 is pretty high rating, I gave it a 3 just based on other courses with a 3.9 rating

Many holes offer difficultly shaped shots, the brush really grabs your disc and can lead to less than fortunate lies. The holes are good distances offering a few chances to air it out and pin locations require accurate shots to have a safe birdie attempt. Many blind holes on the first 9. Great use of elevation and land. I have been referring to it as the Brengle Terrace of the IE. Tee pads are carpet with a rubber strip on one side and can be slick.

Shorter tees provide an easier shot or shorter throwers while maintaining the difficulty of the hole. The locals were very friendly and helped guide us along. Very clean park with trashcans and benches in reach of most of the tees.

Difficult to follow for the first time with no tee signs. Because of the blind shots it would be really difficult to find the basket if it was your first time playing. Tee pads can be slick as the trees keep moisture down low, covering the carpeted tees. Back 9 has many crossing fairways, some that offer large potential of being dangerous.

We had a great time there. The club that runs it, Rattlers, have worked really hard to get this in and improve it to where it is now. Support them and the growth of difficult courses throughout the IE.

I played this park once a few months ago and had no intention of ever returning. then i saw the new review and went down too check it out. This is not the same course. its not even in the same part of the park as it was before. Its one of my new favorites. Challenging and entertaining. Reminds me of Shady oaks in Sacramento where I used to play often. Lots of trees and blind shots. Excellent layout with 2 pads for each hole. And there are 2 new holes so it's a full 18 now. Great locals pointed me in the right direction. Great course!!! And it'd free!!!

There aren't any signs but the pads are marked with the hole # and an S or an L for short/long positions. Also each basket has one of of the bottom spokes painted orange and it points to the next tee. Very simple and effective method. There is some thick brush and I lost a new Z force in it. Actually I abandoned it cause i was running out of daylight and i wanted to play the whole course. It was worth it.

Its amazing how much better the new layout is. I would say its the best course the inland empire has to offer.I played by myself and still had a great time. I'll be back as often as I can get away with.

Fun easy to follow layout, good variation between long and short holes, awesome baskets, cool atmosphere like you're in a river bed with alot of trees

This is a very fun park for the intermediate to experienced player. I took some friends that have never played before here and they were pretty frustrated by the end of the game.

Much more difficult with the new layout, lots of trees and obstacles . Lots of potential for more holes once club gets more funds. But so far so good. Lots of shade and two tee pads per hole is great.

No signage yet, I'm sure the local club will be adding them soon.

- The teepads and baskets are great, new, and in good condition.
- It's a nice, clean little park in a good neighborhood.
- Holes are short, but fun to play with good use of the trees around the outside of the park.
- Some varied elevation adds to the experience.

- Stay left! The course plays along the border of the park, and on every hole, to the right of the hole is doom. For the first few holes, going over a fence into a neighbor's yard is likely. Then you encounter a fence separating the park from the freeway, and on the back stretch is a sharp slope filled with disc-eating shrubs.
- Safety. The park was barren when we were there, but if there were baseball games or walkers/joggers, it would not have been safe to play. The park is small enough that any people in it are going to be at risk.
- No signage. Locals pointed us to hole one, but easy to follow after that. Hole lengths would be nice. Also, our group was initially confused about which basket to throw at on hole 3 (hint: hole 6 is the one you see off the tee; hole 3 is down the hill to the right).

I don't want to disparage the best course in the area too much, but it's nearly unplayable due to the constraints of the park. Our group wouldn't throw forehand because the risk of throwing into someone's yard or down the hill was so large, especially because the wind was a factor. Challenge on the course is usually a good thing, but in this case, it's not an enjoyable challenge.

The current rating on the park is a little misleading. I appreciate people's enthusiasm for the course, but it's nowhere near the course of the similarly-rated Huntington Beach course. I enjoyed Deerfield in Irvine more than this, as it's a similar small-park 9-holer but without the hazards.

The course plays through a brushy ravine, most of the holes play flat along the bottom with a handful of shots using some elevation. There are a couple fun downhill shots and a couple nice pin placements on hills with good rollaway potential. For as little elevation as the park offers, the design does a nice job using the small hills to keep things interesting. The brush makes for some difficult shots if you miss your line, most of the holes have plenty of room to work a shot but harsh punishment for an errant throw.

There's a little line shaping required, with a couple tighter shots and some well-protected pins. There is some variety in distances, with some ace run shots and some that have a little room to throw a longer drive. With dual tees on most of the holes, there is even a little more variety in lengths and difficulties. Some add a slightly different line, and all change up the length. Tee pad improvements are in progress, the framed in ones are great and the rest are at least level if a little slick when wet.

There are some major safety issues. Some of the holes in the middle of the course play directly over one another. A few spots have blind shots where you can't see the landing and there are other tees and baskets in those blind landing zones. The walking path and ball field come into play on a couple shots, and the holes that play across the lower field sometimes have families playing in the middle of them.

The course doesn't call for a huge variety of shots, you can get by with simple hyzers and anhyzers for all the holes. There just isn't a whole lot of difficulty as long as you can throw a 350' controlled shot, as many of the holes have rough only on one side. There isn't any marking for hole number at the tees, so navigation is a little tricky especially with the layout changing and dual tees.

The shorter tees offer a nice beginner layout with reasonable distances though the rough is thick enough in some spots to get a little frustrating. More experienced players will find some nice challenges and a handful of really fun shots from the longs, though the safety issues and lack of real shot shaping variety keeps it from being a top level course. The new design is a huge upgrade over the old layout, and provides a much needed intermediate level course in the area to complement the beginner friendly layout nearby.

- Overall, the Boy Scout troop did a good job of designing this course. Thanks to a good use of elevation, trees, and obstacles within the park, the course is decently challenging and fun to play.
- Numerous options to play: forwards, backwards, two laps, double-length (tee 1 -> pin 2, tee 2 -> pin 3, etc.)
- Challenging OB options (recommended is good, path and beyond on 7 and 8 makes them much harder)

- Tons of non-DG people: runners on the path, families picnicking on the fairways, and families of 10 playing the course with Frisbees
- As a whole, the course heavily favors RHFH/LHBH throwers
- Some of the tee boxes are very close to the previous pin. A wayward ace run could easily turn dangerous.

Course is great, but the multi-use surroundings are a drag. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

With the recent changes to the course it has become much more of an experienced player course as opposed to a beginners course, however still fun for those just starting out. Challenging holes with both long and short tee pads. Much better set up to avoid use of space conflict with joggers, softball players, etc. Very challenging and much more technical. Overall a great course.

The current conditions create a probability of losing a disc. There is a ton of brush everywhere on the course and can make you pay for shots off the fairway. Lack of signage makes it difficult to navigate as of today's date. Improvements coming I am sure.

Local club donations of time and labor have made this course possible. It is off to a great start but still needs help. There are currently 13 baskets with room for five more easily. There is a multitude of other fun shots that can be attempted in a safari type of setting. You could easily play 36 holes and never play the same shot twice.

i went here two days in a row and on monday only 3 holes didnt have a group on them. hopefully this park will lead to bigger park up the street(the dog park on nutmeg, it already has trees marked for holes) i think that place would be killer.

i really love holes 1-5 for the distance and trees in the way. playing those holes backwards is also cool

all and all i like it and really enjoy playing the course and since i live close by i will be playing it weekly.

another side note last year i played at this park using trees and thought it had some potential and im glad i saw the baskets from the 15 becuase i probably wouldnt of gone back otherwise

Good pin placements.
Nice distances for beginners.
Very easy to find your way around, doesn't even need tee signs, however the posts are there just waiting for the signs.

Close to houses for the first four holes.
MANY walker use this park for exercise, walking path right next to tee off pads.

Looking over at hole number one, I couldn't help but notice all the DG discs on the roofs of the nearby homes. Being a course designed more for a beginner, this may become a problem soon with this course. Holes two and three beg for a RHBH to shoot towards the houses and curve back. Lefties have it made at this park. righties have a lot more trees deal with.

I really hope this course stays, but it sounds like the local home owners are already complaining. Play this one soon, it may not last. Too bad they couldn't use the watershed, where no one would get in each others way.

Add 9 more holes in the valley- I know its not part of the park..But...

New layout is getting better everyday, thanks to the Rattlers DGC. Weekly doubles on Saturdays is great. The course has elevation, tight fairways down in the riverbed, wide open greens up top to air it out. Multiple tee pads at each hole. More baskets to come to complete the 18.

Its still a really new course so it still needs signs, concrete tee pads, brush clearing, and some benches. All this will come as the club raises funds.
