Little Known, and That’s for the Best

Baskets placed around the edges of high school athletic fields years ago. Almost all the old DisCatchers remain in place, along with a few tee signs. No tees (never were).

+ It's a counter-clockwise loop around the distant edges of the property. It's a pretty easy layout to follow once you get started, but the lack of tees and tee signs means you have to estimate where to start throwing from. Although the entire layout is open, a few baskets are tucked around the corners created by the bordering woods.

Cons:

- The tee signs just provide hole number, length and par. They don't have maps or any indication of the direction to play. Although the baskets aren't numbered, most of the time, the next basket is visible

- I'm really not sure how many holes were designed in this layout. There's a Hole 10, and there's one more basket that you might play to complete the loop - but that basket is maybe 600' away, and it's placed right next to baseball infield fencing. And that would come after Hole 10 - which the sign shows to be a 552' par 3. I've uploaded a few photos, mostly to give you a sense of the course, but also to verify hole 10 is a 552 FOOT PAR 3!

Other Thoughts:

~ Good for New Egypt High School, and the nearby Robbinsville High School to install baskets in the aughts. But both courses have been ignored and allowed to decay - very common "set and forget" like many small park courses. In the meantime, the Freehold Regional School District has installed really good courses with proper tees, signage and hole designs, at all six high schools with the help of staff and a lot of volunteer labor. The other courses already have the baskets - maybe they can revive themselves and broaden the reach of high school disc golf in New Jersey.
