It's a Course, I Guess 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 25, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

All baskets are very nice Discatcher Pros, and are all in excellent condition. All but the first long tee have rubber tee boxes, making these the best tee boxes in the Las Cruces - El Paso area. There is a signboard near the parking area with a satellite image map of the course that's easy to follow, although a little hard to read the distances on. This area is disc golf only - no chance of hitting anyone or of being subjected to public ridicule, making this is a good course for beginners to build confidence.

Cons:

The area this course has been squeezed into is a mostly flat, treeless, obstacle free patch of nothing but scrub brush and cacti. No matter where you throw, you will land in the scrub brush, so there's no reward for accuracy, the main challenges presented by this course are finding your disc in the bushes, trying not to step in a pile of cacti, and avoiding spontaneous combustion from the total sun exposure. No real tee signs to speak of, but a minor issue compared to the course's other deficiencies.

Other Thoughts:

The designer of the new layout did a good job of what little he had to work with, the course flow is safe, convenient, and easy to follow, but in order to make this an enjoyable course competitive with other courses in the area, fairways will have to be cleared, obstacles and shade structures ala Brent Baca Memorial will have to be installed, and maintenance will have to be done regularly. It might be possible to bring fully grown trees in, like they've done with the new pecan trees planted around the athletic fields across the street.

im let down 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 2, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Pro's lets see;
1) they didnt alter the course from the original landscape.
2) the course is right next to aggie memorial, so if you want you can play a round then watch the football game.
3) its free to play which during some times in the month some of us like lol

Cons:

Con's this will be easier;
1) horrible layout
2) construction
3) fairway is pretty much no where to be found
4) simply said not kept up.

Other Thoughts:

Ok I havent been playing for that long but i've played good courses for both experienced players and beginners. I dont know what these people on here are talking about when they say this course is easy to lose your disc on, i took 3 people out with me who have never played before and we didnt lose not one disc. Im stationed in Va and was home on leave when i played this course, i was let down with it but i do see potential with it. If you live in the area i will be back to LC in july and would love to meet anyone who is willing to work with me to get this course up to par. I know disc catches are expensive but we can figure something out to replace the ones that have been damaged due to construction. So please if your willing to put in hard work to make this one of the best courses in NM let me know.

windy, bush covered desert 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 30, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Long. There really isn't any other Pro.

Cons:

Has no technical shots with the highest obstacle being less than 10' tall. Fairways are just short bushes, have to walk around them and they scratch you up. Good shots stand a 50/50 chance of landing in one and there's no way around that. Impossible to navigate without a map-seriously do not bother attempting without one. Easy to lose a disc.

Other Thoughts:

MAP needed-trust me. Wear long pants if it's not hot, but it's in the desert with no shade. Wind and distance is the only key here.
