Beginners Delight 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 29, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Easy and fairly short 9 HOLE course. Really short if using the close tees. No obstacles to speak of for the discs, just short scrub bush. Next tee boxes are marked by a yellow rope leading from the basket to the next tee.

Cons:

Not for advanced players at all. Too short, flat, and easy. Course display board is facing South but oriented North and is almost worthless except it shows you are standing at the first tee.

Other Thoughts:

I can throw 200ft most of the time and if I could throw it straight, a par round might be obtainable from the regular tees. I consider this a good beginners course because it's challenging, but only for players with less experience, like myself.

Best course around 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 11, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good baskets, recently remarked, friendly players and right off I-25.

Cons:

Little to no obstactles above 10 feet. I've never lost a disc here but I've spend 30+ minutes looking for them sometimes. There isn't an organized league or group here that I know of. The Basket to hole #6 has been destroyed by a constuction vehicle.

Other Thoughts:

This course isn't the best I've played, but it is pretty good for what it has to work with. Leaps and bounds above album park in El Paso. If you don't want to drive a long way, this is the course to play it.

UPDATE: A road (using stimulus money) is being built right through the middle of the course. I have talked to a local group of players who are trying to raise funds to rearrange the course so that 9 holes fall on one side of the road and the other 9 are on the other side. Currently they are starting to lay concrete down. As of right now Holes 2, 6 and 14 can be hard to play because or workers and equipment.

Gives new meaning to Badlands 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 27, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is wicked long and is great if you're tired of pitch & putt courses. Requires players to work for their pars on most holes and a sub par score would be outstanding. Challenging to say the least, excellent for experienced players. Have played 100+ times and never lost a disc.

Cons:

The designers were given very little to work with here, basically 18 baskets and a big open desert. No funding for tee-pads, markers, maps, etc. It's really the desert too, sand and cactus. Not much in the way of obstacles with the wind and distance being the true foe.

Other Thoughts:

Given time this will develop into a nice course. It's hot and has no shade, but hey, its the desert. It's popularity is growing and it is not uncommon to see players in the dusk hours around the course. Anticipate the University spending some money in the near future for Fly-pads, maps, markers, garbage cans, etc.
