Plain in Princeton

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 22, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

The North Side Church offers adequate baskets and a strip of landscape timber to mark the natural teepads but not much else.

In a bit of a disc golf desert between Marion and Hopkinsville, this nine-holer in Princeton provides some decent hole design but is limited by the mostly flat ground and not enough trees to shake the "lightly wooded" description.

The first few holes are fairly open, allowing a decent warm-up. Hole #1 is 320 feet but slightly downhill and seems like a good hole to throw multiple drives for fun. Holes #4 through #7 require a bit of shot-shaping around a few trees scattered about. The last two holes are wide open, though Hole #8 does require navigating a couple rolling hills.

The Chainstar baskets were fine. There's a parking lot right next to the first hole and the course loops back around to that spot.

Cons:

No teepads or tee signs. Instead, there's about a four-foot long plank of wood to indicate the tee area. These aren't easy to spot immediately and I needed to use the course map on "the other app" to get an idea of where to progress to next.

Navigation is confusing without a map as there are several baskets visible from most places on the course. The first tee area is easier to spot since it's near the parking lot.

The field needed some mowing; the grass was at a normal level but buckhorn plantain weeds populated most of the fairways.

Other Thoughts:

The course is open enough for beginners, but the distance will challenge the novices. Two of the holes are over 400 feet, which results in an average hole length of about 310 feet.

This course merits a 1.0 rating because it's boring, plain and lacks any amenities.
