Short, flat and dangerous 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 16, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course plays through a small city park with nicely groomed grass. The park is well maintained, and free of trash and vandalism. The tee signs and baskets are in good shape, and there is decent concrete to throw from on all holes, and a nice course map by the parking lot. The design makes good use of the trees available in the park to force some different shot shapes and keep it from being completely wide open.

Cons:

This is an extremely poor design from a safety standpoint. Many fairways cross and play right next to each other, a couple holes throw directly over other tees, and two holes literally throw directly at each other for almost their entire length. On top of this, locals play other layouts, so there are even more discs crossing fairways from unexpected directions. When we played there were a couple large groups playing, and that makes the course really slow as you have to spend a lot of time waiting for them to clear the crossing fairways.

The course is short, with no holes over 250' and some well under 200'. Despite the trees, the shots have very generous lines and no punishment for errant shots, so it's a very easy course.

Other Thoughts:

This is one that I would only recommend if you're in the area and want to check it off your list. The holes are appropriate for beginners, but unfortunately the poor design makes it even more dangerous with newer players who have less control. More experienced players won't find any challenges here, even playing with just a putter.
