Pros:
My Three pros:
- good beginner course with good access for nearby families and gettable short holes. The short tees can be played in ~30 minutes if everything is flowing smoothly.
- nice use of trees in the park for some shot shaping and low ceilings on a couple holes
- good mix of hole length ranging from ~250 - 450. The short tees play about ~250', the long tees around 300' with a couple longer holes mixed in.
Cons:
My three cons:
- I have only played on busy afternoons and the non-player course traffic is pretty heavy at times. Mainly liots of kids overflowing from the playground area nearby running about around 1,3,4,11, 12 etc. A walking path is very close to several holes and was typically busy with walkers. The fairways of 3-4 seem to always have someone having a picnic or taking a nap. Come early in the day or be prepared to allow other to obliviously pass. Its a strange feeling at times to be at a busy disc golf course, and the only one playing disc golf.
- Dirt tee pads, usually more worn in at the long tees. IDK i like concrete tees, even for unremarkable dinker courses like this one. Baskets are old, strange type that dont catch all that well at times. Baskets and tees could use a revamp at some point.
- Navigation can be confusing through the first few holes without a map of some kind. All tees are marked with little green posts with a tee #, but a few holes are close together so it can be hard to tell where to throw and where t o go next the first couple times around
Other Thoughts:
I want to like this course as it has a couple of nice holes and is most convenient for when I'm in Houston - but the folks running through the course doing myriad things from flying kites to playing soccer makes the course tough to enjoy at times. The holes are fun and flat. A fairly easy course that's good for a beginner.
