Nottingham Park is about as typical of a recreation course that you will find. And the saddest part is the designers failed to use the only small hill in this flat park. Putting the # 11 basket up on this small hill would have instantly made it the course's signature hole. If not that, then putting either of the # 12 tee pads up here would have made 12 the hole to remember. But instead, the course is decidedly Vanilla, not even Chocolate Chip Mint!

The park does have a nice little children's water spray park. It's cool misters felt good to me after my round this afternoon. The park, except for the one small hill, is perfectly flat. There are scattered trees throughout and they have been utilized in the design whenever possible. There are both A and B tees. The longer A pads can sometimes really stretch the hole out. # 11 is 280' from the B and probably plays 475' from the A position. This being my fourth course today, I was too lazy to walk back and check the offical distance.

The course is city park recreational all the way but the A pads give us rec players a chance to show off our massive guns. The tee pads are natural and some were slippery today after recent rains. There was some standing water on the course and was quite wet under a couple of baskets.

# 7 had me confused. Does it have two baskets? The B sign said 243' and the A pad was closer and read 321' and there were two baskets out there.

Not much shaping of shots required here.

It's a pity not to use the small hill.

Although I didn't meet up with the sheriff today, I did enjoy my round here. It's fun and very non-threatening. Close to zero chance of losing a disc though I guess you could get one stuck high in a tree. No hunting for discs in deep grass. It would be a great course to introduce someone to the game. Good for families and youth. There are some nice Ace Runs with all of these 225' holes. If dry, this would be an ideal course to work on your rollers.

And the water park was a welcome relief after playing four courses today.

-short and long tees on every hole, averages ~250' and ~325'
-all 12 baskets are present and in good condition
-signs for all 12 short tees and all 12 long tees
-mature trees throughout the park that come into play on each hole

-entirely flat and doesn't utilize the one big hill near basket 11 and tees 12
-very busy park, lots of other people hanging around in fairways or walking on the path near holes 2, 5, 9, 10
-the trees block certain lines but there is still lots of airspace to work with, no forced shots really
-lots of repetitive holes, no memorable holes

There's not too much to say about this course; it's pretty vanilla. There are lots of mature trees in the park and there are usually at least a few in play on each hole but it is not so wooded that it forces certain lines.

The two sets of tees are great for making the course approachable for rec players or more experienced players. It also makes for a more interesting way to play 2 rounds, which you'll probably want to do at only 12 holes. That said, I'm glad they didn't try to cram any more holes in here. There are lots of parallel fairways as it is. It can make for dangerous conditions if the course is crowded with multiple groups. There are lots of pedestrians around in this busy park too so make sure to be careful when throwing.

The holes are all mostly around the same distance and fairly unmemorable. The lines on some of the long tees are a bit unnatural. Designed in 1997, I think the long tees were not conceived to be able to reach the pin off the box. This is the main difference between the two sets of tees also, most of them aren't that much longer.

Looks like one of the better places to play around this part of town. It doesn't have any stand out holes but it doesn't have any major issues either. Just watch out for the pedestrians.

People walking right though course. Not the best of areas, lots of broken glass. HOT in summer after hole 4. Bring water!

can be an ok course. Good combo with 18 at moffit since they are nearby. Few years back I was playing on a weekday right after they had planted 500+ trees. Someone overnight uprooted most every single one of them! I spent the morning putting them back into their holes - a$$40L3s! Now I care a little more about the course and come back twice a year to check on it - and watch the trees grow ;-)

-2 T-boxes per hole
-Wide open to practice distance.
-Clean
-Fairly simple to navigate.
-Good for quick round

-Not a variety of shots needed.
-No Cement T-Boxes
-Swamp Lands after rain, floods T-Boxes, Fairways and Holes.
-A hot course to play in the summer, very little shade.
-No course could be flatter.

There are trees that come into play on most holes, but they are generally easy to avoid, with the exception of a few that hang low to the gound. I had a hard time staying beneath some of the branches.

The double T-Box (1A 1B, 2A 2B etc...) is very nice because it gives you two different rounds to play. The B Tees are closer and take away certain obstacles while the A Tees back you up in distance and place more trees in front of you.

As in all of Houston, after a rain, this park becomes a swamp. My disc floated in standing water beneath holes. If you want to stay dry, you have to walk much further to avoid standing water.
I'm looking forward to playing the course again when dry, and cooler. There is very little shade and the sun beats down on you. After 12 holes I was ready to call it a day as if played 36 holes.

In most ways this is a boring course, no elevation, no cement tees, not enough wooded areas. But for a quick round (and in Summer you want it to be quick) it makes a good fast game with plenty of Bird chances and even some Ace opportunities.

Will play again.

(I agree in a few years when some newly planted trees grow up, will be a better course.)

*Review from the perspective of the shorter, B tees*

Baskets are in fairly good shape. Most are missing the yellow band around the top of the chains.

Hole #1 is an open meadow shot.
Hole #2 is a short shot with the basket located behind two patches of younger trees. A straight shot will reach the basket nicely as the disc fades.
Hole #3 is a tunnel shot through the older trees.
Hole #4 is located in the floodplain with the tee in the midst of a large dirt patch. The shot is back through the old trees.
Hole #5 has a few trees to the extreme sides of the fairway.
Hole #6 tees are a turnaround from 5 basket. The basket is located within the tree line, but the shot is open otherwise.
Hole #7 tees are very close to the hole 4 tees. Be careful about throwing into another party on these. The basket is guarded by a lone tree from the B tees.
Hole #8 is wide open one the disc clears a large overhanging tree. The tee is a sharp turnaround from hole 7 basket.
Hole #9 is a meadow shot with the basket located in a group of older trees.
Hole #10 is easy to miss. It plays out into the open field.
Hole #11 returns to the main wooded area of the park. The long tees add 200 feet to the hole and provide the longest shot on the course. There is a large hill to the right of the basket that gives an opportunity for some elevation change if your tee shot goes wide right.
Hole #12 plays from two different angles around some picnic tables. The B tees present a tunnel shot back toward the hole 1 tees and the parking lot.

Overall, the course designers made good use of the existing old growth. The course ends where it began, which is nice. The player doesn't have to hike a long way back to the parking lot. This course would make a good place to learn the game but does not provide much challenge to the experienced player.

Dirt tee pads. When I played, the course was dry, but there were many large dirt patches that probably get very muddy in the rain. There were broken beer bottles near some of the tees.

A few of the baskets are close to those of other holes. Sometimes, this makes the shot a bit confusing: the hole 11 basket looks like a potential target from the tees on 7.

The two tee locations rarely offer a different shot aside from the increased distance. Hole 12 plays two very different angles from the two tees, but the shot is basically the same.

The course is flat and not very technical. Anyone with decent aim will have no trouble avoiding the older trees.

There are hundreds of new trees sprinkled throughout the park. In a few years, the course will be much more wooded.

Looking at the pictures definitely helps you identify the tee markers. The first tee is to the right of the parking lot. Print the course map.

There are A & B tees which is nice and the course layout uses the available trees reasonably well. There are a couple of long, open holes, but most of the holes have a few trees that you have to account for.

No real tee pads - you just throw from somewhere near the marker. The course layout for the last hole is terrible - from both the A & B tees you throw across/near a set of park benches where (at least when we played) several families were picnicking. Also, the jogging trail around the track was fairly busy when we played, and several of the holes end near/cross the track. Also, the baskets are starting to show some wear, but they are certainly playable.

Definitely combine playing this course with nearby BridgePoint (a 6 hole course). Bridgepoint will provide more wooded/technical holes and the two courses combined make an above average 18 hole course. On its own, this course would be at least a "3" for beginners since the holes are not too challenging and the alternate tees provide variety/extra difficulty.

A nice mix of wooded holes for a small city park. A fair balance of long, open holes vs. shorter holes with lines through or around trees. A good number of small trees will change the make-up of the course in five years or so when they grow up. The tees are all well marked with dual tee boxes on every hole. 'A' tees play longer than the 'B' tees.

Some baskets in slight disrepair, but still very playable. Lots of broken glass on the ground; not significantly dangerous if you're wearing shoes. These are the type of shards that have been broken up and ground down over a long period of time. Occasionally you'll find people wandering through the park oblivious or indignant to the fact they're crossing a disc golf course. If the 'A' & 'B' tee markers were painted different colors it would be easier to tell them apart from a distance.

There's a new splash park built on the site of the old baseball field that draws a lot of park goers. There's little interference from that, but the walking/jogging trail around the perimeter of the park yields some pedestrian interference.

With the improvements to the park in recent years this course has been slightly redesigned and reduced from 14 to 12 holes.

Despite the cons listed above I enjoyed playing this course and could see myself playing it regularly if it were in my neighborhood.
