Great at the start, then turns sour 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 2, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- Clear holes, don't have to worry about poison ivy
- Uses elevation excellently at some holes
- Plenty of parking
- Course map provided at the start
- The course is well maintained
- Baskets are old but still good
- Restrooms and water fountains located in the middle of the park

Cons:

- Holes 5 and 6 are closed
- Frequent events prevent easy use of the course, usually via pop-up fences along some holes
- Some holes located along some high traffic areas
- Navigation is very difficult if you don't make use of the course map
- Some hole signs are outdated, or baskets aren't where they should be
-- For instance, hole 1's basket has 6 on it, hole 4's sign says the basket is far to the right, but it's actually 200 feet closer to the left, and the basket that is far to the right has 1 on it
- The walk from hole 4 to hole 7 is insanely long without 5 and 6 breaking it up

Other Thoughts:

According to the designer, this course will see a redesign before the year is up. I can't wait for this to happen as Old Settlers is a beautiful park that deserves an excellent course.

Pokemon Go: plenty of stops and gyms peppered throughout the park along the course.

2+ years drive by

Pros:

Maybe three or four good holes. However if you want to learn the wind better, get great at long drives and like playing big bomber courses you should check it out. I'll admit it's fun from time to time to go throw a crusher or two on almost everyhole. This course will help you gain distance like none other around if that's an area you need to improve, the same as going to a big field.

Cons:

Least favorite of mine. Might as well play in a circle through a huge hay pasture with 3 or 4 trees. No challenge what so ever just drive after drive and putt. Hey, I guess one more good side is that you could play the entire course with 3 discs and lighten up the load for the 10 mile hike in 30mph wind!.

Other Thoughts:

Sorry Round Rockers, I know you guy's love it, but you gotta have more than a cannon at most courses.
