Best easy course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 5, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

1. Very clean course with no vagrants hanging around.
2. Maps of course at hole #1 and on every tee pad showing hole layout.
3. Nice practice basket to warm up on.
4. Concrete Tee pads
5. Family friendly atmosphere
6. Easy access

Cons:

1. Maps on each pad don't include trees that may block your view of the basket.
2. Knowing where next tee pad is gets confusing.

Other Thoughts:

This course definitely doesn't get the love it deserves from seasoned players. There are very few, if any city courses that compare to this one for beginners,
Over all nice family park with play area and clean bathrooms. Not gonna challenge the Milo/ Blue Lake player, but taking your spouse or kid for a casual round is worth the trip. Wish there were more like this in the Portland area!

Favorite 9 hole course in PDX area 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 12, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Fun and quick. If you're a new player or looking to get in a quick round or two on a lunch break or between appointments (or whatever) this is a great course to hit up. The grounds are well maintained and the course does offer some variety. Overall a pretty park and nicely laid out.

This is by far my favorite 9 hole course in the Portland area.

Cons:

Some park goers walking on the paths that intersect or skirt some holes, but not a big issue.

Being this is a popular park, you can sometimes find yourself behind a large group of infrequent/fair-weather players. Typically these groups let you pass, but I've definitely had my run-ins here with those who are new to the sport and don't yet have a handle on etiquette (typically teenagers or Pokemongo players . . . so, teenagers).

Other Thoughts:

Being one of the first courses I've ever played, and definitely the first course that made me feel like I didn't totally suck, this course is held near and dear to my heart.

I still find myself returning here now and again to up my confidence. Cheap therapy : )

Great beginner course, still OK for others 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 29, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Very clean and well maintained. even back fields get regular mowing now.
- Closest to a perfect beginner course as I've seen without being too boring. Not too many places to truly lose discs but a couple of spots can still be a challenge to find discs when grown in.
- Can be not crowded at all when weather isn't 100% perfect.
- Baskets were just made longer on the 2 holes they could (5,8), maximizing it's challenge.

Cons:

- Too short overall
- very little elevation change
- Literally every shot is within a few degrees of perfectly straight from the tee.
- When the fair weather players decide it's nice it can get crowded in a hurry.
- Ground squirrels have made back fields lumpy and easy to twist ankles.

Other Thoughts:

With regular mowing of the back fields and less irrigation of the front, along with the slight lengthening of the 2 holes they could, the park has become more DG friendly for sure now.

Great Beginner Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 17, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

An open course with short holes for beginners. Very clean and well kept. Concrete tees. Holes are easy to find and are well marked.

Cons:

A lot of traffic. Being a small course, there can be a lot of pedestrians and other disc golfers, so you may need to wait or be careful when you throw. Advanced players may find this course boring due to it being very open and the holes are pretty short.

Other Thoughts:

A fun little course for beginners or for those who want a quick 9 hole game.

Better than its rating. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 23, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Well maintained grounds and equipement. Easy to find. Easy to navigate. THPRD did a great job with their signs and tees.

Cons:

Most of the holes are fairly short and not terribly technical. Experience players can play the whole course with one disc (Buzz or Coyote).

Other Thoughts:

Another short course in town that is great to introduce new players, discs, or techniques on. It is also a great place to get your first ACE as there are several "short" holes.

fun warm up course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 15, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Extremely clean park!!! Very well manicured grass and trees/ shrubbery. Wonderful warm up/ practice course for advanced players... and an even better course for beginners. I can spend all day on hole #7 as it's a blind basket during summer time great for tomahawks and curved slices to the right @ a distance of 172 feet its an ideal hole for aces. The tee boxes are extremely comfortable w/ provided maps/markers trash buckets and a small broom to dust it off. Most importantly it is almost impossible to loose a disc on this course. ( if you do loose one... just think of it as a contribution to a beginner player as a gift )... Restrooms provided during summer time operation. Great baskets!!!

Cons:

Many Pedestrians and dogs!!! For advanced players it's an almost expected birdie on the holes if you can't ace them. Gets crowed w/ a lot of families that don't let you play through. ( but in a positive way of thinking forgive them as they are learning how to play ). Small parking area and It was somewhat confusing to locate my 1st time.

Other Thoughts:

I live w/in walking distance of "greenway" and it is a short drive for me to "orchard" so if located in down town Beaverton it's fun to start here @ "orchard" hop on hwy 26 to "lunch time" then settle @ "greenway" for a days worth of playing (for me). I think the next closest parks from "orchard" are 2 courses located in forest grove ( I have no reviews for them as I haven't played them yet ) but I know they have one @ mc minimans pub so if you're a drinker it might be in your interest to hit up that one or viseversa.
