This is obviously a well-loved course that sees a good bit of play. I play plenty of raw courses and this is far from that. There were well worn walking paths from hole to hole. There are benches all over this course and not just your average boards on post, some of these benches were uniquely designed and memorable. The course was kept pretty well maintained. There are concrete tees on the course and they were nicely built. There are tee signs, though fairly rudimentary.

The course will challenge your accuracy and that makes it fun. Most everything is tight lines in the woods. There is a good variety of shots here as well, in terms of "directional". You'll need backhands and forehands. You'll need to throw with right and left in equal measure, as well as up and down hill. It does have a little bit of everything along the way. The "island hole" was a nice fun touch. In general, that was my impression of this course was fun shots that didn't require a terrible amount of challenge, but were not easy pars either.

The park itself was nice. As you drive in, there are plenty of other activities going on with sports fields, picnic pavilions, etc. The wooded section of the course uses a nice little chunk of woods that played along some walking trails and and athletic course. I was there on a rainy day and there were still dog walkers and couples out enjoying the park.

This is a prime example of a 2000s era course. Discs were starting to get "bigger" and courses were expanding but we were still maxed out at 9 and 10 speeds. That means nothing here requires all that much distance. When I say that keep in mind I'm a complete noodle arm and even I think it's short. Because of the lack of distance, the course does start to feel a bit generic. I've played dozens of courses in my time and many of them in Eastern Ohio. Many came from this same era and they all feel a bit same-y. There are courses in my area just like it, it's a bunch of 300 foot shots in not all that dense woods. It's a fun course to play. If I'm local I'd be here all the time, but is it memorable? Is there anything here that makes it stand out? That's most of the reason for my ranking.

There are only one set of tees and I'm not sure they even have grass tees for anything so no Red or Blue tees here, etc. The signage really needs some work. The tee signs are simple and don't do much other than distance. The front 9 has good directional navigation but it disappears eventually. The course doubles back on itself repeatedly, so combine that with no signage and I walked the wrong way several times.

As many have mentioned, there is a good amount of litter here. That's probably a symptom of the use, but also surprised a bit given the overall condition of the park which was nice. There was glass in many places on the course.

They probably need to do some work on irrigation. Admittedly I was there on a fairly rainy day but there was standing water everywhere and more than ankle deep in many places, including tee areas.

The course name on this site is a bit different than the UDisc app, which refers to it as Veterans Memorial Park.

Info says that there is a restroom. I couldn't find it. Not doubting the info, just couldn't find it.

I played this course for the first time at The Beauty, which is a PDGA tournament. This course is in a beautiful setting. It is located in a mature forested area. There are a few holes that pop out into the open and/or shoot from the open into the woods. There are no holes that are completely separated from the woods.

The tees are adequate. They seemed kind of on the small side for my 6'5" frame, but I don't run on the tees on wooded holes so it didn't interfere with my drives at all, but if you do run on the tees and you're taller, I could see it being a problem. This is a bonus for a summer course as it stays nice and cool in here (as opposed to Tri-C which is pretty much all in the open and hot as hell).

The course has many elevation changes. Nothing too extreme, but enough to make it interesting.

The design is pretty solid. There's plenty of forehand and backhand holes alike.

Problems with the course as I see it:

There's no open holes. This is all in the forest. I personally like this aspect, but for review purposes I'm letting you know that it is unbalanced in this regard. If you're looking for a bomber course, play Tri-C. If you want to increase your accuracy skills, play here.

Also, the course is compact. There are a few holes where the fairways are close to eachother and/or the basket for one hole is very close to the tee for another. This could operate as an interference and/or a safety issue, but it's not a huge deal. Just noting it FYI.

I found this course to be highly enjoyable. It's one of the best if not the best course in Cleveland IMO. You won't be disappointed!

~While there is good variety for a wooded course, it's all wooded....lot's of trees and tight fairways throughout.

My first visit to this great course was for The Beauty C-Tier tournament. Played two rounds, and walked away satisfied....this is a great wooded, technical course. Fantastic mix of uphill & downhill holes, some tighter than others. Nice concrete tees, defined fairways, and very challenging. Numerous blind holes which was tough for the first round, my second round went much smoother. Well maintained and groomed, the locals all indicated this is the best course in their neighborhood. The local club should be proud for the overall experience this course provides. Don't expect to bomb drives, and pars can be hard earned. Placement off the tee is critical. A challenging and very enjoyable layout providing ample shade. The course is located in a huge public park, but disc golfers are mostly excluded in their own wooded basket sanctuary (aside from some adjacent walking paths on a handful of holes). Big parking lot right by the entrance to the course, public restrooms, playground, ball fields, and many more park amenities provide entertainment for most anybody. Worth playing again and again!

This is one of the top courses in Northeast Ohio, IMHO. Elevated shots, uphill, down hill. The only thing really missing is a water shot or two. Front 9 is easier than the back 9, but both are great.

This park in Parma has a lot of really neat activities for the family: a great playground, mini golf, a little artificial lake for RC boats & fishing, a paved parcourse jogging trail, ball fields, shelters, and abundant parking. The disc golf course has 18 holes (some with multiple pin positions) essentially on two wooded hills. When the baskets are in some of the long positions, they set up some really challenging rollaway greens. The concrete tee pads are well sized for the length of the holes. The difficulty of the woods is decent for the Intermediate player, while most of the rough is forgiving enough to at least see the general area where your disc landed, and to allow lanes to get back out. Benches and trash cans are available where most needed. The course handles water very well, as evidenced by our playing immediately after a torrential downpour night (see below).

There are six holes that bend left, five that turn right, and the rest are either generally straight or present options. Elevation is used to great effect, from hole one going up over a ridge to a blind pin position to the left, all the way to eighteen, which runs down the hill to the OB parking and driveway. You won't be disappointed with the hills here, and you won't have to be a mountain goat on them, either. Big arms don't have a lot of opportunities to air it out on this course, although I've heard temp holes around the lake have been used to great effect in some tourneys here. The holes range from the ace run 180 foot #8 to the challenging 407 foot #3. The signature hole might be right in the middle of the back nine on hole 12, where you can -see-- lines through the trees to make the downhill 335 footer, and folks at the holes around can watch as you -try-- to hit your intended line.

Decent tee signs and indicators pointing the way to the next hole work well with the well thought out course flow, but you might want to hook up with a local or walk ahead your first time because many of the basket positions are blind from the tee. The second hole has a neat feature to compensate: they've placed a sunburst sign high in a tree (visible from the tee) above the blind basket position. It's a really neat idea that other courses might be well to emulate!

The rough, particularly on hole 15, can be covered with low level vine-like thorns that will wreak havoc on your lower legs if you thrash about in them. Other than that, and the fact that more advanced players usually like more 'D' with their trees, I don't have a lot of negatives here.

Just played four rounds here last weekend for the National Senior Games, and had a friend shoot 45 to the short pin positions (a pretty darn good round here...but then again, he's now a Gold Medalist!). The event was wonderfully TD'd and supported, and I wanted to publicly thank the local disc golf community and the NSG for putting on a fantastic tournament!

ALOT of trees! Hard to have a decent drive without hitting a tree. Much brush with prickers also..

Over-all a good course. Has alot of Potential. Cut down few tree's, and rating would go up.

This course is my home turf right now.

Equipment - There are concrete tees for all holes as well as a sign by each tee indicating the yardage and approximate flight path. Many holes have benches and trash buckets. Baskets are in good condition. There is a practice basket and a field right by the start to practice.

Lots of fun playing in the woods. Clever use of natural terrain and objects to shape holes (fallen logs for example). Very pretty underneath the tree canopies. Deer and squirrels abound. Nice variety of elevation changes on the holes.

Thorns and thick brush. Lots in the summer. Especially bad around 15, 16, and 17 and a big patch on 1 if you shank slightly right.

Some tees can be hard to find if you aren't paying attention (2->3, 4->5, 5->6, 10->11). Read the signs at the tees to find the next one.

Some vandalism (marker over one of the signs) and trash (broken bottles mostly). Kids have set several fires on hole 15. I found and put out one with a water bucket borrowed from a resident, and another one required the fire department (they were there when I got to the hole).

Not much signage on back 9 besides at the tees.

Only 2 holes that you can really air it out - 3 and 18. I prefer technical shots but still want more variety.

The baskets get moved relatively frequently. Hole 18 in particular probably had 150 feet added to it. Here is a hole by hole rundown:

#1 plays uphill, peaking at the BMX trail. Basket is in a little clearing. Approach shots can be fun depending on what obstacles are in the way.

#2 is long and downhill. Very hard to bomb it though due to the preponderance of trees.

#3 is the long bomb. Requires a clever throw to bomb it and stay left of the fence or away from the tree island on the left.

#4 The drive is sort of a crapshoot. Like playing pinball. Standard after that.

#5 is a nice dogleg with a fork near the end. It's pretty long though after they moved the basket back. Remember drive lengths are usually limited due to trees.

#6 is a great hole. You can choose to take the safe dogleg or risk it and go over the foliage on the left. If you make it over on your first drive you can get an easy birdie or par. This is one where I am glad they moved the basket because before you could get a par with bad throws and luck (I've done it, trust me).

#7 is somewhat open, but you can't air it out right and have it hook back due to trees (bad for my style). The fallen tree behind the basket is helpful.

#8 is the shortest and easiest hole currently. Just a simple anhyzer mando. Easiest lefty/forehand hole ever.

#9 is unique. First you drive straight to approach the hill. Then you need to avoid as many trees as possible down the hill. Basically a much harder version of #16.

#10 I hate the drive here because of the tree on the right. Requires a clever approach because of foliage hiding the basket.

#11 was created by cutting down an area of saplings. Easy to trip on the tiny stumps by the basket. The putt is steeply downhill and punishes a bad putt, but the fallen tree might save you. Might not be as interesting once the fallen tree loses its leaves.

#12 is very scenic. Fun drives and second shots here.

#13 has an intimidating stand of trees right at the tee. I hope your aim is good. Smooth sailings once you get past it though.

#14 is uphill and pretty standard.

#15 I feel like has some wasted potential. It has a huge area of unused land on the left. On the right are some extremely dense thorns. Nice elevation changes though.

#16 is a narrow straight shot down to the basket. If someone aces a hole at Parma it's probably this one. Lots of dangerous thorns on the right.

#17 is my least favorite hole on the course. First, drive over the sidewalk, next to the pavilion and children. Mando right. There is a second mando as well immediately after, but I think it's vandalism and not real. If it is, it makes the hole even worse. Once you deal with all that it's a long uphill climb to the basket.

#18 has been reworked extensively. Basket is far and to the right. The right side has been opened up to compensate. If you end up left of the large trees you'll have a bad time.

Well maintained course. The tee pads and signs complement the layout. Being primarily wooded, it's nice to know throws that deviate from the fairway won't be necessarily "dead in the water" so to speak. The roughs are well worn and leave those who do throw off the fairway a more difficult shot, but not impossible, as is often the case on other courses. There's often more than one choice as far as where you want your drive to go, making it easier for players throwing both left and right a viable shot at the basket. Even during a day with more stiff wind, it's not always a factor due to the mature growth trees and solid shrubs lining the course.

Often wet, even when it hasn't rained for awhile. The course was constructed within a limited area, meaning holes often butt up to other tees, sidewalks, fairways. It's very compact. The cages are starting to show a little wear and tear and could use a bit of maintenance.

As of late it seems whatever group maintains the course has laid down a nice bed of wood chips along most of the fairways, paths to tees, etc. Nice call!

Heavily wooded 9 hole course.
- Tees are small but concrete.
- Baskets are in good shape and level.
- Tee signs show accurate par, distance & elevation and are in decent shape. Some small vandalism on signs. There are reflectors showing direct to pin and signs to the next tee.
- Grounds/foilage are kept up for a heavily wooded course. Some people may consider this course as not being kept up because there is a LOT of foliage but then again, you are in a very heavily wooded area. Cleaning it too much would take away from this.
- There is a nice bench at #3 & #9 tee.
- Short walk from parking to #1. The tee is near the picnic overhang that you can see from the parking lot.
- Flow is nice and you end right at the parking lot and near #1 to so you can comfortably play this twice.
- Not very busy.
- Near a beautiful park with lots of baseball fields, a reservoir, v-ball, picnic areas and a paved running/workout path. After I play 9 holes twice, I throw in one of the baseball fields to get in practice and a workout.
- Elevation is a plus. Course has its' ups and downs and adds some difficulty
- Variety of shots required. You will need to turn left, right, and go over and under things. Your accuracy through trees is tested.
- #1 is an up hill shot to the left. I birdied once and I'm a poor player.
- #2 is a downhill shot. It has two choices; straight through tight spots then turn right, or, more open hyzer out to the right and hope you get through the trees. I just recently switched to straight and right curve.
- #3 has a school playground on the right tight against your fairway. If you accidently drop into the fenced in school grounds, there is a convenient hole cut in the fence halfway down to sneak in and out. Keep your drive as straight as possible! Paved trail is out of bounds on left.
- #8 is heavily wooded and the hardest hole. Sign says go straight and turn right. Ignore this, aim to the right of the path, there is an opening. Straight then left curve bomb. This hole will eat your disc!! Be careful.
- #9 rocket a low hyzer straight at the pin and let it slide down the hill. Another birdie hole.
Edit 10-25-10:
- #18 ends at parking, but be careful throwing AT the parking.
- Added more benches in the back 9.

- Small, tight course. You never get to rip any massive bombs here. I hope you can throw a thumber/tomahawk. You will at some point need to throw over something.
- Can be muddy, especially around tees
- No pro tees
- A lot of small thorny plants, especially if you turn right too much on your drive on #7. Searching for discs can cut your feet and calves up. Don't wear sandals.
- No practice pin
- BMX'ers have a few jumps at #2 tee but I have only seen bikers using it once.
- Wood chips needed on fairways to help prevent erosion.
Edit 10-25-10:
- No concrete tees on the back 9. They are mulch as of now and need work.

A fun 9 hole course. Narrow, wooded fairways add some challenge.

The signage and reflectors are well done and other activities to do around the park add a little something for the family. The park around the DG course is extremely well maintained.

Rumored to be adding 9 holes soon!

Edit 09-27-10: The back 9 construction is underway. It may be on hold due to the amount of recent vandalism on the front 9. Rumors also of a new path to #1 and a practice basket.

Edit 10-19-10: The back nine was installed yesterday! More to come!

Edit 10-25-10: Rating updated from 3 to 3.5.

Edit 04-05-10: There is more work planned for this course and once the tees are all finished and clearing is done, this will easily be a 4 out of 5 star course!

Challenging short wooded course. Well marked trees on fairways and signs at each pin pointing toward next tee. Tee signs were clear and easy to read. UPDATE: Now that the back nine holes have been put in my rating has gone up. The new holes are great! They are fun to play and still as challenging as the front nine with good elevation changes and lots of woods.
Update again: Tees have been lengthened on the front 9 and concrete tees put in on the back 9 so this course has just earned another bump up in my rating.

Tees improvemed to concrete but are a bit on the short side and a few holes were crossed by footpaths and BMX trails. The new holes could definitely use improved concrete tees and hopefully that is planned. Edit, see above regarding back 9 tees.

All in all a fun course to play. Challenges your driving skills with narrow wooded holes. I like this course better every time I play it. This course has joined Sims Park and Roscoe Ewing Park as the must play courses of the Cleveland area.
As another reviewer said, don't go too far to the right on your #3 drive or you end up over the fence onto the high school marching band practice field...but go at the right time of day and you get to play the course to the sounds of John Philip Sousa! ;-)
