better than good 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 7, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

this is a chill city courselots of short fun shotsand even a few bombers, no big downhill though

Cons:

def some course overlap, the whole course is kind of like an island course. the plus of this is that you get to experience a circus like flurry of incoming discs

Other Thoughts:

mad respect for whomever designed and built this course. there is love here and elegance and above average creativity.this is a compressed technical city course, that maximizes all the space available. only course that i can think of that compares to it is the Mineral park course in Seattle.the rolly polly knoll like feeling of this course gives it loads of personality, reminding me of a well designed ball golf coursethe giant culvert pipes are f* brilliant! whoever designed this course should be paid to make more courses!! in az. Sonoita? Tombstone? Bisbee?

Enjoyable and challenging desert course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 22, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very thoughtfully designed - several of the holes are unlike anything I have played elsewhere.

Great mix of discs and shots required - it's possible to play here very often without getting bored.

Extremely well-marked - near each basket is an arrow pointing to the next tee. On every hole, the basket is visible from the tee pad. Even first-timers to the course should be able to navigate it without consulting a map.

Cons:

Tight quarters - it's common for fairways from other holes to come into play. When the course is busy, you need to be careful about throwing into other groups and watch for others throwing into you.

Recent upgrades! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 21, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Recent addition of Black tees add length to a relatively short course, it's like playing a new course from the tips.
New caretaker has made some great changes, all the basket areas now have the putting circle, and the dead brush has been removed. New landscaping has been done, fresh Christmas tree mulch will help slow down the edge damage to your discs.
Excellent baskets and permanent tee pads
Signs at every hole

Cons:

None that are ongoing, except hole 17 is marked as a parent 4 and it's straight uphill at 270'. Play it as a par 3.
A few too many shorties.

Other Thoughts:

First off, big kudos to Boyd B. I've been playing here for 3 years and it has NEVER been better than it is right now. And I've played over 100 rounds here. Mostly part 3s, with a short Mando and a long Mando where you throw through giant concrete culvert pipes. Good stuff. The new tees add some much needed length to the course. Also, there is a walking path around the park for the significant other, and a huge playground for the young ones. And 2 dog parks. And a huge archery range.
This course is a 10 minutes drive for me, and I'm coming here more than the other local courses, which are are either boring parks or scrubby desert.
Summary - not the most challenging course, but taking everything into account this course checks off most of the major boxes.

Mandos rock 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 25, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very fun course with great facilities. Water and restrooms close to start, finish, and halfway point. practice putting area near first hole. All holes are clearly maked and labeled with good signage. Love the two mando holes. great course to work on precision and touch. Nice tee pads and even a few extra ones for beginners.

Cons:

Smells like manure sometimes but hey your in farm country on top of a landfill.

Other Thoughts:

not sure if par fours are regulation par fours and need to be played as par 3's. Layout and rules at start of course is a nice touch but not sure what the min. distance for par 4's should be?
