Beautiful Park! Course Doesn't Quite Measure Up 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 21, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Rancho Jurupa is a large sprawling park with much going on, camping, awesome looking miniature golf course, a cool looking natural playground (natural looking climbing features) and much more. There is a $6 entrance fee. The disc golf starts right behind the miniature golf course which is free with your park entrance free.

The course has nice metal tee signs with the distance, par and route. There is the standard "Rules of Disc Golf " sign. The tee pads are large concrete pads with horizontal grooves cut across them for added traction. The baskets are Innova Discatchers with the yellow bands. There is a very cool rounded concrete seating area right near the # tee pad.

# 1 is 283' anhyser shot which cuts dangerously close to the miniature golf fence.

# 2 is 1 454' anhyser shot with the basket very near the winding white park fence. By now, I'm wondering, Was this course designed by a lefty?

But then the course straightens out with some more straightforward holes. The first 6 play in this section and then 7-9 are located in another little section of the park.

Cons:

The wind was blowing something fierce.
# 1 is a safety hazard with discs landing in the minature golf area.
Course definitely lacks the wow factor. It's borderline boring.
The # 3 tee pad does not face the basket so you have to throw across the pad.

Other Thoughts:

For some reason, all the really big mature trees have been chopped down in this area. I think it's adversely the disc golf course. Maybe, they break the wind. I don't know for sure. I don't think I could justify paying $6 to play this course. There's probably enough other options around that are better.

Rancho Jurupa Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 15, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice tees, Good layout, Away from most park traffic.
Very nice park for kids and family, Mini golf, Fishing, Camping . .

Cons:

Overgrown - don't throw your favorite disc!

Other Thoughts:

This course is very overgrown! The parks department has cut a path from the tee to each hole about 20' wide, but if you miss that, you are in 3-4' deep bushes. This does not make the holes more difficult, it just makes it very time consuming and real easy to lose a disc. Hole 5 I landed pin high, 25' to the side and it took me 5 min to find my disc.
Front gate personnel didn't know where first hole was. . . It is right behind the Mini Golf.
