Course Designed For Children And Beginners Was Designed By Children And Beginners! 2+ years

Pros:

Riverfront Park consists of a large open field and a children's playground. The disc golf course plays in a counterclockwise direction sticking close to the woods on some holes. The hole distances are all under 200' except for the last hole which is a 200' par 4. Do you hear "Eagle" whispering to you?

The baskets are single chain models with a red number on top. There are no tee pads. The signs are nice except those which have been trashed by the local scumbags.

There are a couple of interesting throws here. # 5 is a 171' anhyser around the corner of the woods. Note; The woods are very thick. Avoid them like the plague.

# 6 is kind of a fun, simple little toss to a basket on a small hill 151' away.

Cons:

Beginner distances.

The course is taking a beating from some superhuman type vandals. The # 1 tee sign pole has been bent over. The # 4 basket is leaning and someone (or something) has been jumping up and down on it.
The # 6 basket is leaning. The # 7 tee signs has been torn in two.

And these vandals or creature also totally bent, multilated and otherwise trashed one of those super strong parks department benches. Bent it in multiple directions. Couldn't have been humans!

Other Thoughts:

The middle of this park (wasteland or wasted land) is a huge open field the size of two soccer fields. There is a fire hydrant in the center. So tell me? Why did the course designer decide to have hole 9 end way out near the cornfield? When he could have just as easily had you throwing back towards the parking lot?

This isolated park is taking a beating from someone or something. The playground has weeds growing up, the paint is faded and it looks as though no-one ever frequents this park. I know I wouldn't dare to come here after dark unless I was packing.

Pros:

Not too many. There are two or three holes with a minor chance to hit tree branches. One hole is up on a hill, which is kinda cool. I went on a Sunday afternoon and my friend and I had the place to ourselves.

Cons:

Not enough obstacles for such a short course. Some pitch and putt course can be fun, but this one offers very little in the way of variety or challenge. There is at least a 500 foot walk from the ninth hole back to the parking lot. I do not mind the walk, but why not add another hole about 300 feet on the way back. I know of two other ten-hole courses.

Other Thoughts:

I guess this would be a good place for a beginner to play. If you are on I-94 on the way to Matt Lavesko DGC in Hammond, you may want to get off at Bernice Rd. exit to come and see this place for yourself. I definitely would not encourage anyone to drive more than a few minutes out of the way.
I feel they could have made a few of the holes longer just to make sure every hole is not an easy deuce. I guess I should appreciate the fact that they are trying to grow the game. I wish they would have built a new course somewhere in Crete Township. They have a ton of primo land that blows away anything South Holland has.
