Gotta Love Rollin' Ridge! drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 16, 2022 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Pro shop with discs, food, drinks, and friendly people & dogs!
- 3 sets of tee pads and baskets per hole.
- Well designed overall!
- Lots of challenging shots for all skill levels.
- Honestly is not too busy unless you show up on a league day.
- All three sets of baskets and tee pads are great.
- Cool landscaping and use of the land!
- The course sprays for mosquitos!
- Practice area with baskets and a throwing net.

Cons:

- Can be super muddy/flooded during the early spring (alternate layouts for then)
- Can get buggy, but in recent years the course owners have sprayed the course.
- Limited parking space if it is a busy day. (Mostly tournaments or leagues).

Other Thoughts:

Rollin' Ridge is always a great time! It is pay to play and it is 100% worth it! Great amenities, variety of layouts, and a great time overall!

beautiful, challenging, must play course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 9, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Easy to navigate. Excellent signage. Nice baskets. Variety of terrain. Elevation changes. Optional water holes. Awesome pro shop. Driving range. 2-3 tees per hole. 3 baskets per hole and they are all in every time (not just moved around like most courses.) Rakes to get your disc out of water areas and deeper mud spots. Nice protective wooden fences in danger holes. Cement tee boxes. Garbages on a lot of holes. Benches to rest on many holes.

Cons:

Muddy on some holes. $5. Do not get disc out on water holes. Not many cons. Great course.

Other Thoughts:

Perhaps the best course I have played. What a great job they did. They did not take any shortcuts at all on this course.

Great Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 22, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

This was the destination course for our fall disc golf road trip and it lived up to the billing. I rate courses just on the course itself, and not the clubhouse or other amenities, but rest assured the amenities are plenty good.

I loved the variety of holes and the challenge of the course. It is not gimmicky, just straight up hard. We played long to long and as an intermediate level player it really made me step up my game.

Not a huge amount of elevation, but they used it well.

Cons:

The back nine was not quite as fun as the front - a touch too much technical (through the trees) type holes, some of which you could count on hitting trees.

Also the water was used well, but if you put a disc in the pond you are not allowed to pull it out. I get why, but for a destination course it is hard to walk away from lost discs. That said the folks in the clubhouse did say they would contact us for our one lost disk.

Other Thoughts:

Well worth the trip out there. I wish we had played through a second time (we went to another course instead).

Beautiful woods golf 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 16, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Three tees and three baskets for every hole is great. The baskets are different colors to mark longs, mediums, and shorts. Though the type of shot might not vary much from tee to tee on the same hole, the difficulty of that shot certainly will be different between tees. This makes this course accessible to a greater variety of skill levels. It should still be understood that the short tees to the short baskets isn't easy. It can still be a challenge for an advanced player. The teepads are in great shape, plenty big with a follow through pad across a fault line. The only time I had to think a little bit about my footing was on the bridge tee which was a little slick, and that wasn't too bad.

The golf plays pretty great (see cons). A couple of wide open rip into a drive type holes are a nice change of pace from the rest of the wooded course. The wooded golf is a fun challenge and some of the wooded holes even have some distance to them. Hit your line. Play smart. Rollin Ridge forces you to attempt to do all of these things, which is a hallmark of a great course. There will also almost assuredly be times where you will have to be proficient at scrambling. Really, this course challenges almost every part of a person's game. There isn't huge elevation change as in there are no big top of the world shots or shooting up a ski hill type shots, but significant elevation change most definitely comes into play on some holes.

No manufactured OB. A sign of good course design when you have trees to work with.

A beautiful setting as most of the course plays around and under many old growth trees. The clubhouse/bar is very welcoming. They have a nice selection of discs for being in a rural area. Lots of garbage cans if I remember correctly. Great tee signs. Benches on a lot of holes. Practice putting baskets out front. I especially liked the warm up batting cage type net for drives. I wish more courses had one of those.

Cons:

As much as I enjoyed all of the amenities, the most important thing to me about a course is how it plays. On about half of the holes there are one, two, maybe a few trees that I would like to take out. A couple holes I think are poke and hope type holes. I am thinking of the dragon hole in particular. On some holes you can lace a drive down a tight but very fair tunnel only to be kicked off to the left or right by a tree that is in the middle of the fairway 300 feet away from the tee. I am used to playing technical northwoods golf but many of the holes at Rollin Ridge cross the line from technical to random punishment. I can understand why the owners might be hesitant to cut down trees as so much of the beauty and character of this course comes from its wooded scenery, but some holes just don't play well because of the luck factor involved.

Not a fan of the pyramid basket. They always seem unnecessary to me, but especially so on a challenging course such as this. You would be more beautiful without it, Rollin Ridge.

Other Thoughts:

I hope to go back to Rollin Ridge. I had a great experience both times I played there.

It might get a little muddy in spots on the course but it really doesn't affect play or the fun time you will have, just be aware.

If you are visiting, give yourself enough time to play it twice.

Exceptional 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 2, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

I planned to camp overnight and get 2-3 rounds in, and had such a good time, ended up staying 4 days. There is wifi at the campsite also, so was was able to get some work done. Most courses have a mix of some great holes, with a few open, .uninteresting ones, but there aren't any filler holes at the ridge, all are fun and challenging, and lines can be very different from the 3 tees. Spotted Cow and many other varieties are served at the clubhouse bar for after rounds. Owners are very friendly and accommodating.

Cons:

Some of my discs are a bit less stable than they were before playing 8 rounds here; as lumber hits are assured. Just one minor caveat with the campsite near the clubhouse, which is a bit noisy at night from the trucks on the Hwy. I plan to return again this fall, and will camp at the sites near 9 or 15, farther away from the road.

Pros:

Good variety of holes
Multiple pins and tees don't just add distance, they create different lines and new challenges
Score cards with accurate distances
Pro shop and bar on site!
Open all year round

This is one of my favorite courses to play. Some of the lines may seem a bit too challenging but that makes it so much more rewarding when you hit them. The pro shop has an excellent selection of discs, and a very nice bar and pool table. There is camping available for wayward travelers and the staff is great. They search for lost discs on their down time and call the numbers of people when they find discs. I never have to worry about permanently losing discs.

I appreciated the variety of holes here. It's not often I get to use my flick, and there are even holes I still can't figure out the best throw.

Cons:

After playing this course several times, i do have some things to say;

Some of the lines are pretty luck based, a few trees here and there cut down would make this course a perfect score.

Mud is an issue especially in spring

Other Thoughts:

I highly recommend this course. It is a great destination spot to combine with silver creek. Every nine holes you can stop back at the clubhouse and take a breather. They're constantly adding new features and doing work on the course. This course is already awesome, and it's only gonna get better. Watch out for hole 2, it's a disc eater.

Unbelievable amenities 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 15, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

- The amenities. On-site huge pro shop. Putting practice area. Driving 'range' (basically a batting cage). On-site camping.

- Private course. No conflicts with other park uses like you might have in a public park.

- Looping 9's layout. Holes 9 and 18 return you to the clubhouse, so you can reload on discs or beverages or have a bite to eat.

- Multiple tees and baskets on each hole.

- Logical flow. Short walks to the next tees from previous basket.

- Good variety. Good topography. Lots of trees and some water.

- Very good tee areas with benches landscaping. Some interesting elevated baskets.

- Clean. Not a speck of litter to be found.

- Fogging for mosquites.

Cons:

- I wish there were more multi-shot holes (par 4's and 5's).

Other Thoughts:

This is the poster child for pay-to-play disc golf. Nice wooded property and obviously a lot of work went into not only clearing fairways, but building the facilities into a 'country club' type of setting. The holes were challenging, yet fair. It's a full-service course, with a full pro shop with discs and accessories as well as food and beverages.

What I appreciated the most is the use of multiple baskets and tees on each hole. You essentially have 9 separate layouts to play, which means you're less likely to tire of playing and it can accommodate a wide range of player skills.

Above and beyond bonus points: This being in the woods of Wisconsin, I was armed with bug spray. However, not a mosquito was to be found, since the management fogs the course.

Cons:

As nice of a course I thought it was there were two or three heavily wooded holes to wear if there were gaps and alleyways to advance your disc I did not see it.If it were not for that. I would have rated the course at the highest level

Other Thoughts:

A magnificeint place for disc golf.Parts of course are wooded and few holes are heavily wooded. The wooded parts are very playable a skilled player has a lot of workable space to play a shot in between the trees and toward the basket.

Amenities galore 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 2, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Private...country club like setting. $5 to play and I consider this a plus, it's that good!

The amenities include: practice basket, driving range net, pro shop, indoor restroom and shower, indoor bar, fire pit and on site camping is also available.

3 sets of CEMENT tees, black (long), red (medium) and orange (short). The landscaped tees are were the best I've seen in over 300+ courses that I have played. They were usually raised above ground level, had benches, trash buckets and rock gardens and/or gravel surrounding them.

A lot of variety shots are required: downhill, uphill, right to left, left to right, straight, open, wooded, nothing extremely tight or unfair.

They have built wooded structures near some tees to protect you from errant shots.

No map is needed, I found my way around easily because there are plenty of signs pointing you in the right direction. The back 9 has un-natural flow but is easy to navigate though. The path to #15 passed #7's tee.

A few water/hazards aka swamps that can affect play especially on #9's approach shot.

#14 wall/walls built leading up to the basket.

Per the tee signs multiple pins placements although the A, B or C wasn't always circled on the sign.

A few bridges were built to help you over wet or muddy ground.

Cons:

Just a few...Bugs...bring bug spray.
Muddy in some of the lower terrian (I played here before and after rain)
Bring appropriate foot wear which I always do anyway.

Other Thoughts:

I drove 4 hours and got to RR at 7:40a on Labor Day and played here and came back the next morning by 8:30a for another round so I missed the pro shop and bar being open. I had the course to myself and loved it. The course was very FUN to pay!

The golf shots and course weren't extremely difficult. I'm an Adv Grand Master rated just below 900 and shot right just about par (using a couple of mulligans on the drives). I'm used to harder courses in the Mid-Atlantic/Pennsylvania area and was expecting more par 4 's for being a top 5 course. I did not play the pro black tees though.

Compared to the other 4 star rated courses in the area (Silver Creek and Winter Park) I'd play here every time over those two.

I'd love to come back someday in the future and play RR later in the day. It is now listed as one of my favorites here on DGCR.

Rollin' Ridge DGC Review 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 26, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The course was well planned out, and is very clean. Each hole has a dynamic setup, and is fun to play. They put a ton of time and effort to make this course enjoyable and decisive. The shop has a ton of merchandise, food/drinks, restrooms, and a game room.

Cons:

It has a few spots that are really wet and squishy. The two holes that go over/around a swamp are bad if you are a beginner thrower. If you toss one in, its there until someone gets it out from the shop. You have to be careful, or you'll be waiting or hoping you get your disc back. It is $5 to play every day, which kinda sucks but it keeps the grounds good.

Other Thoughts:

For my first time being there, I was impressed. Every hole has its own personality to it. I'd go back more if it were cheaper or if the season pass wasn't so expensive.

Rollin Ridge DGC 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 11, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Disclaimer: All claims about the holes are from the perspective of short tee pads to B pin positions.

1) TWO practice baskets and a "driving range". Driving range is just netting placed around wooden posts to form a tunnel about 30 feet long, but it gets the job done.
2) 3 tee pads and 3 pin positions on almost all of the holes.
3) Tee pads are ginormous, grippy, and have a run off area at the end for your follow through.
4) Great catching and deep baskets.
6) Navigation is a complete non issue. Great signs along with an intuitive design provide for a great first time experience, even without a map.
5) Well defined and manicured fairways around the entire course. Even on the tighter holes there are defined gaps and lines that the hole asks you to hit.
6) Course makes great use of the woods and open areas around the property, along with the few hills that there are.
7) The overall design of this course is just absolutely amazing. It won't force any specific shot on you (although it may work a lot better) but you will need your whole bag here. 7 of the holes play left to right, 7 right to left, 3 play relatively straight, and 1 of them plays as a small S shape. As a lefty it threw backhand off the on every hole, while I was still able to play good, if I had a dependable side arm I could have shaved at least 3 or 4 strokes off of my game.
8) Distance variation. When I played they ranged from 160ft to 625ft from the short pads with most holes hovering around 300ft.
9) Legitimate par 4s!
10) Great risk-reward. While most holes are a relatively easy par (expect 9, that hole is hard no matter how you slice it) birdies are a pretty difficult thing to come by. Carding a birdie here usually forces you to take a shot that if you miss will leave with a difficult par or worse.
11) Unless you get some really unlucky kicks there is virtually no chance you will end up on some one else's fairway, or someone else on yours.
12) Landscaping. Most tee pads have some sort of decorative rock around them and a few of the pins have great "green" that have been created. Namely hole 14 which is on the top of a 3 tier wall that is about 20-25 feet high. Also walls have been constructed around tee pads that may be in the line of flight from other tee pads on the same hole or from different holes. And they look pretty awesome.
13) Foot bridges have been built over the wet areas of the course so you don't have to get, too, wet during your round of golf. More on that below.
14) Benches and trash cans (buckets) are to be seen on almost every hole.
15) Full stocked pro shop that is open almost all the time.
16) Pay to play. Keeps all the ne'erdowells away.
17) The owners are amazingly nice people, and they have a really friendly dog :)

Cons:

1) The course is built on naturally swampy land so it can get very very wet and soggy. When I played (in mid May) hole 4 consisted of standing in water or sinking up to your calves in the dirt. The walk to hole 5, end of 7, end of 13, and the first 3/4 of 14 were like this as well. Also, then end of 14, at the bottom of the big wall, gathers massive amounts of casual water. There was a small lake about 50 feet by 30 feet that was about 1-2 feet deep, and surrounded by that soft swampy mud for about 5 feet in every direction around it.

Other Thoughts:

As of now this course tops my list as the best one I've ever played. It is truly a top notch, championship level course. If you haven't played it take a road trip and treat yourself to greatness.

Update: It's been years since this review and the drainage issues are still there, if not worse than they've ever been. Knocking the review down form 5.0 to 4.5.

One of Wisconsin's best by far 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 7, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is one of the best courses I've seen by far. The course is set on a beautiful piece of property right off highway 10 in Manitowoc county. The tee pads here are fantastic. They are level, grippy and flared concrete pads that face each pin perfectly. There are 3 sets of concrete tees on almost all the holes with a few having only 2. The different tees drastically change the shots which is what you look for in multiple tee holes. They aren't just 20 feet further back like a lot of courses. The baskets are awesome looking red powder coated Mach 3's that are in superb shape and catch great. The flow is very easy to figure out. They have a ton of signs showing not just next tee but next tee for the different tees, long, medium and shorts. They also have multiple pin placements for most if not all the holes which just adds to the challenge here. Theres a great mix of left, right and straight shots. The distances vary quite a bit from hole to hole. There's a ton of elevation which makes for a real challenge. The majority of the course is pretty wooded but with very fair lines to the pin on all of them. There are a few water hazards here as well. There's a wetland area to the right of hole 2 which is pretty dangerous. They have long telescoping poles to retrieve discs out of the swamp on the edge of the swamp which is super cool. There's benches at every hole with enough trash cans throughout too. there are a few elevated baskets in the middle of the course which once again adds to the challenge. The landscaping and man made structures and retaining walls here are just unbelievable. This is by far the most visually appealing course I've played due to these structures. They offer camping on site which is a bonus. There's a practice basket and a driving range/cage in front of the pro shop as just another of the awesome features here. They have probably over 1000 discs with an excellent variety in the pro shop as well. This was the best selection I've seen to date with the exception being maybe sandy point.

Cons:

It's too far away from me to play as much as I'd like to. I honestly can't think of anything else. It's as close to perfect as I've seen.

Other Thoughts:

Go out of your way to play this course. It's $5 a day which is ridiculously cheap for what you get. I've played almost 100 courses so far and this is the best of all of them. There is no way anyone who discs seriously will not love this course. I only rated it 4.5 because I haven't played every course so I don't know if it's the best of the best but to be honest I was very tempted to give it a 5. It's that good.

Pros:

Rollin Ridge is a pay to play course which is open to the public. It's $5 a day to play and is well worth it to play a course of this caliber.

The course design here is fantastic. The course is mostly wooded with only a few open holes. I consider this course to be championship caliber, but the three sets of tees and multiple pin positions make the course friendly to a wide variety of skill levels and will challenge everyone. There are elevation changes on almost every hole, some are slight while others are more extreme. The shot variety here is excellent and you will need every shot in your bag at this course. There are a number of multi shot holes here, more from the longs, less from the shorts. I'm a big fan of multi shot holes and the ones here are great. There are definitely some unique holes here, I could consider a number of them the signature hole. The fairways are fair but tight on many of the holes. They force you to hit your line to score well. There is good risk/reward here. You can choose to pull out a driver and hope that you hit your line and have a chance at a birdie. Miss your line and you'll whack a tree, fly way off the fairway and be lucky to get par. Alternatively you can grab your midrange and if you keep it in the fairway par shouldn't be a problem to achieve. Many of the putting greens are protected or on hills and slopes which adds to the challenge. The course is very challenging and well designed.

The amenities here are the BEST I've ever seen in my disc golf travels. There is a nice big club house with drinks, beer, snacks, pro shop, tv, pool table, restroom, shower for campers. Just outside there is a driving range, practice basket and huge deck with picnic tables, bulletin board, course map and money drop to pay for playing this awesome course.

The amenities don't stop at the club house. On the course there are three concrete tee pads on nearly every hole, nice baskets, and benches at almost every tee. The landscaping that's been done here is absolutely amazing! There are a number of structures throughout the course to protect some tee pads from errant shots on other holes, there are large landscaping rocks around every tee pad, elevated walkways, raised baskets, a stair step wall with multiple landing platforms and the basket at the top. I really can't say enough good things about the immense amount of work that's gone into this amazing course. The course landscaping and amenities rival those at Blue Ribbon Pines IMHO and it could be debated that they surpass them.

The few open holes have tall grass growing off the fairway but they had the bright idea to cut some rows into the rough to make it easier to find your disc in the event of an errant shot. This is just another example of the great things they're doing here.

As impressive as the course is now, the best thing about the course is they continue to make improvements. Tons of work had already been put into the course when I first visited in March 2013. When I returned in July 2013, just 4 months later, an impressive amount of work has been done.

Cons:

The course could use tee signs and/or a more detailed course map. Like I said, they're not done working on the course and I know from talking to the owner and his brother that these things are on the way.

The basket on hole 4 has a number of trees in the fairway as you approach it. In my opinion it doesn't make the approach very fair, but thankfully this is the only place on the course I felt this way.

I heard the course can get buggy but they sprayed a little before my visit so I didn't have any problem with the bugs.

Other Thoughts:

This is a top notch destination course, it deserves its high ratings, and is well worth traveling out of your way to play.

I really want to give this course a 5, I have added it to my list of favorite courses and it is amazing. The lack of tee signs are literally the only thing stopping me from giving the course a 5 and I'll change that as soon as I hear they are added. It is phenomenal but I'm sorry, I can't say it's the best of the best without tee signs.

Even without them this course is amazing, go check it out!

Amazing Course which will only get better 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 8, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

The first two holes alone freaked me out and as a newer player, I thought I might have regretted going out here due to the challenge. However, the course evolved and ended up being amazing. So much so that we played two rounds in sweltering heat and humidity of the Sunday in the July 4th weekend.

There are wooded platforms over muddy spots and open woods that make loosing discs relatively impossible. Basket placement varies too. Some are high, some are slightly raised, some are low. Every hole has a challenge. The course itself is great exercise and feels like a hike without throwing the discs. I'm a bigger guy and lost 9 pounds on the day.

There is a really nice "man cave" style clubhouse here as well. Not finished when I visited, but I've heard from many people that this course has been under construction for years and they don't sit on their hands, so I suspect this will be completed shortly.

Cons:

As my buddy and I were playing our second round of the day, we sat down waiting for the group in front of us at the hilltop tee on 12. I asked him, "What is it about this course that makes it less than perfect?" We both agreed that not having tee signage yet was the glaring thing and we got confused a few times, even with the scorecard. Yes, there are bugs, but I don't blame a course for having bugs. It's the sacrifice you make for the seclusion and the atmosphere. Bring bug spray and you'll be fine.

Other Thoughts:

This is a difficult yet fair course, as a newer player, you shouldn't be afraid to play it. Courses like this make you appreciate a great disc golf course and it also helps your game.

If you live in Appleton like me, it will take you about 35 minutes to get there and it costs $5 for the day. I will definitely be making this trip about once a month or so and bringing more people each time. This place deserves to be seen, they have definitely put in the work and I wish them the best. Mosquito's weren't too bad when we played but I can see how they could be terrible. Forgot the bug spray in the car so we lucked out. There were a few extra baskets out there that made a few holes confusing. We played to the wrong basket twice.

Other Thoughts:

The dedication and love that went into designing/constructing this course is quite special. Sounds like it is only going to get better. Wish is was closer to home for sure. Great job and look forward to playing it again!

Private beauty and dedication - one of an area trifecta of excellent courses 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 25, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is disc golf dedication to the max. A wonderful love of the sport, some dedicated landowners, partners, and volunteers, and the desire to build something great is ensuring this and will remain a top notch course. At Rollin Ridge, you almost have it all (missing the huge downhill bomber), and my preference for wooded technical courses is balanced superbly with some wide open rippers (soon to include watergardens and other beautiful landscaping), long and short wooded goodness along a rollin' ridge, awesome balance of left, right, straight, and mulit-route holes, water hazards, OB, and risky greens galore. Distance is varied well from short technical to long wooded and long open. There is not one throwaway hole. Three distinct tees are present on most holes, all well constructed to be grippy, plenty wide, and including a follow through zone. Multiple pin placements further add to the enjoyment by showcasing more of the beautiful property and more difficult routes through these wooded airways. There is not one throwaway hole! Two of the long wooded holes are legitimate par 4 holes, and one of the longer open holes could be with more strategic OB water hazard built where Blue level players typically land. Elevation is used to the fullest and maximized for well designed uphill throws and exciting downhill throws. Throwing along the crest of the rollin' ridges is also used to keep in line with the namesake. Memorable holes are thrown at you left and right in a variety of ways from neat gimmicks like the raised tire pin, tee in bridge, and also just with the beautiful natural terrain and setting of the property. Standing on the tees invokes the true disc golfer in me. They make you look down the fairway and get excited about stepping up and ripping the perfect drive to sail through such a gorgeous airway! I love challenge and risk, and a wooded course like this offers the need for accurate play, but then you throw in risky greens perched on the edge of excavated pits, surrounded by trees, or on a risky slope and I'm in disc golf nirvana. The attention to detail with the retaining walls and landscaping continues to get nicer and neater on a daily basis. Pay to play (on private property!) keeps the worthless chuckers off the course, and this is a huge bonus.

Cons:

No tee signs yet. I'd like to see three distinct tees per hole. IMO this completes the skill specific round and challenge for each individual skill level player in your group. Hole 3 would be an absolute par 4, with some strategic OB built about 325-375' from the pad, making it a decision to layup short, or bomb out over. The low portions of the course at the SW area of the property can get swampy, wet, overgrown, and mosquito infested. This sucks when you can't even focus on playing, but I can't deduct from the score. I have no doubt that the love of the game and this property will yield some fill, more bridges, and the amount of play will keep the undergrowth down. The property is right on US 10 between Manitowoc and Appleton. This introduces quite a bit of road noise and lack of seclusion on a handful of holes, and I love the quiet solitude of remote courses. I have not seen poison ivy, although the area is known for fields of it, only some nettles. Despite not deducting for bugs, I do deduct for poison ivy and other plants that can be controlled. Color labels for the tees bugs me. The corresponding pdga consistent tee pad color layout per skill here would be white, blue, gold. The short tees here are harder than red recreational tees, they are probably equivalent to white tees (especially with many being shared use). The middle tees here are equivalent to blue tees. The long tees here are equivalent to low gold tees.

Other Thoughts:

I didn't get to play the tee built into the bridge yet, but what a wonderful addition to this amazing course. This will be a great gem of a private "club" course in the northeast WI area. Rollin Ridge offers a perfect trifecta with the brutal untamed nature of Winter Park in Kewaunee and the manicured city park design setting at Silver Creek in Manitowoc. The course alone is worth a trip out of your way. If travelling through or near the area on business or pleasure, make this a stop. When you include Winter and Silver, you'd be insane not to take a day (LONG day) to play all three! To me, in the battle of the Ludington ferry courses, this trifecta offers lightyears more variety and balance than the Leviathan/Flip/Mason trifecta. These are the blood red baskets won from DGA in one of the first basket giveaways, they will hold up great and look awesome in the woods. Despite the course not falling into 100% complete balance and variety with a huge downhill ripper, or a definite formidable water hazard, the clubhouse and private feel make this an amazing course. It shakes out to a 4.7 in my spreadsheet, and I would round up to a 5.0 for the atmosphere, dedication, and absolute certainty that this will only get better, but the road noise bugs me, and total variety is vital to my 5.0 ratings. Make no mistake, 4.5 is an awesome score in my book. I hear talk of waterfalls, watergardens, incredible clubhouse, and all kinds of special events and can't help but smile at what this course is soon to become.

Blue Ribbon Pines meets Standing Rocks 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 14, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Excellent Teepads! Course layout is fantastic with the multiple pads to appeal to a broader audience. Course manicuring and structures built by the locals are some of the most rewarding things to see on any disc golf course. The lattice work and field fences were my favorite current touches. People are constantly still working on this course (seen while we were there)

Cons:

No signs, yet. Course is 80-90% complete as far as extras and final placement.

Other Thoughts:

This course is my new favorite in the state. Such a diverse setup of shots, distances, and styles that can get you through the tough/challenging design. The longs are quite a beating if you don't have your A+ game, but never felt like the course was unfair by any means. Extremely fun to play and challenging at the same time. Quite a difficult hybrid to achieve in such a new course.

I absolutely would give this a 5 if the tee signs were up. Such a great place for so many reasons. Play it, you won't regret it.

Tough and fun! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 2, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a fantastic piece of wooded property with rolling hills. Many of the shots bring some minor to moderate elevation changes into play, with several fun downhill shots and some tricky uphills. A few of the holes have greens with rollaway potential, and many others have obstacles in play to keep the short game challenging. Water comes into play on a few holes, with swamp areas on 1 and 2 that can easily come into play on an errant drive, and a lurking pond on 18 in a potential landing zone for players going for a birdie.

The three sets of tees add an amazing variety here. Each offers very different lengths and lines, so the replay value here is high and there is a great opportunity for most skill levels to find an appropriate challenge here. Each set of tees has a good mixture of hole lengths, from bombers to some reachable shots. There are a handful of open or half open holes to balance out the majority of tightly wooded shots with tough punishment for missing the fairways.

The concrete tees are a great size, and have plenty of grip. There are inset colored dots on each for the red, orange and black sets of tees. An enormous amount of work has gone into making this a special place to play, with protective walls, built up elevated tees, bridges over creeks and a boardwalk with inset paver tees in a wet portion of the course.

Cons:

The layout is a little heavy on RHBH hyzer shots, especially from the shorter sets of tees. There's a little more variety on the blacks, but it still seemed like that was the predominant shot. There are no tee signs, even to show the hole number, so navigation can be a little tricky if you get at all turned around, and some of the tees are a little out of the way to find. With lots of long blind shots in the woods you'll have to do some extra walking your first time out if you want to know where to throw. There are a few low areas of the course that seem to hold water for a while and provide a breeding ground for the copious and especially vicious mosquitoes that inhabit this area.

Other Thoughts:

Beginners might find even the shortest tees a little tough, though they do provide a pretty reasonable length for newer players. More experienced players will find the orange tees a nice challenge, and the blacks will test even top players, there's plenty of challenge here with tough rough to contend with if you miss your lines.

I would definitely recommend a stop here, it's one of my favorites in the state and well worth the trip. The clubhouse is a great place to hang out between rounds, with a pool table, bar, and tables around the windows facing the greens for holes 9 and 18. All the little extra touches are a nice bonus here, and add to the great vibe they have going.
