Quick, Fun 9-Hole Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 5, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very minimally wooded, open course. Long, open fairways with excellent use of elevation changes, which adds interest and challenge. Very limited water hazards. I dont have crushing long drives, but still made it up to the basket in a reasonable number of throws to par or bogey most holes.

Cons:

Navigating the course blindly the first time was challenging, I ended up throwing to all the wrong baskets. But, one time around with some regulars and I appreciate the course much more in its appropriate configuration.

Other Thoughts:

The local club members are very kind and welcoming. Enjoyed playing a nice round with them, hope to join them again soon!

I've had great times here 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Easier, good variety, not too many trees to screw your throws up. Probably takes less than 40 minutes to play, even with several people. There are benches at most of the holes. Simple layout takes you in a loop. Openness and size of the park allows many configurations - it can easily be turned into an 18-hole course by simply choosing a different hole from each pad.

Cons:

Water hazards a problem on the last holes. You have to frequently cross a creek to keep playing. The pads are too small to get a good run-up. First hole has a playground in its path where children play, so beware of that. Some of the par numbers seem a bit strange, it's easy to birdie the 1st and 2nd holes; the 7th hole is a bit rough for a par 3.

5th hole recently had the pin stolen. You can play through to the 2nd hole's pin, it's about 90 feet further up the hill.

Other Thoughts:

This is a great 9-hole course with a good variety of elevation changes and interesting shot possibilities. It's really quite good and worth playing if you're in Kirksville.
