Amenities. Large City park with Ball fields, a Pool, shelters, trails, and plenty of parking (though it may be crowded if an event happens to be going on).

Clean and Well Kept. Garbage cans sporadically through the park and regular maintenance keep the park looking good and well manicured.

Ace/Birdie Opportunities. Every hole is reachable in one, so this is a good place to work on approaches and mild technical lines.

Navigation. Pretty straightforward when you find hole 1, I didn't struggle finding my way around at all.

Tees. Dual Tee pads, Marked by Red/Blue Toe Stones and a sign that shows Hole #, Distance, and par. Natural tee pads suit this course fine as I feel concrete would be wasted overkill here.

Baskets. Disccatchers, all in good shape, they all exist and work as expected.

Local Scene. A local league is held here on Saturdays.

Access. Near 255 for a quick stop.

Variety. Most every hole is less than 300 feet and mostly open. There are several large trees that add some challenge.

Other User Areas. Hole 2 plays near a building, a drive that gets away from you on hole 5 could end up on the other side of the fence in the elementary school playground (I had to jump the fence, I don't think this is recommended), Hole 6 plays near a gazebo, could be trouble if people were using it, and Hole 8 basket is quite close to a house.

Not Beginner Friendly. Sure, the holes and layout are great for beginners, but for the reasons mentioned above, someone that doesn't have control over their drives could easily injure a small child or put a disc through a window. I wouldn't recommend this course to someone trying to learn the game.

Wet. I only note this because it has been in other reviews, Hole 2 had a couple of inches of water on it. The course does not drain well.

I would not recommend this course. If you're passing by bagging courses, or if you're a local, it's a course. A small course with minor challenges, shouldn't take but about half an hour.

-good, easy to follow layout
-decent pin placement with guarded pins and some OB in play, especially on 4 and 6 (walking paths)
-two pin placement makes for a more challenging course from the long tees.
-Long tees not only add distance, but also change throwing lanes

-no real variation in hole length (all 300-400 ft from the longs)
-holes are somewhat repetitive because of lack of elevation and lack of variety of hole length
-long tee on hole 2 and the pin for 9 were flooded, although it hadn't rained for 3 days (but a lot of rain before that)
-natural tee pads
-it was unclear how to get to the parking lot from the main park (lack of park signage).

Fun little city park course in an industrial refinery town. The pond must have been dry because I didn't see it when I played. I would play again as a warm up to Rockspring in Alton if I had time.

Has a sign to mark the access road to get back to golfer parking area.

Decent amount of trash cans at the pavillions that dot the front half of the course.

A water fountain between holes 4 & 5.

Easy access from Highway 255.

Baskets are in good shape and easy to find.

.......and that's about it.

When coming from the north, there's no sign ot point you towards the park (but there is one when coming from the south, rather weird).

No signanage to designate the golfer/pavillion parking area (just signs saying 'Don't Park on the Grass'), but in all fairness one can figure that out on their own.

No sign to point you towards the first tee.

No kiosk/golfer info area, and likewise no place to store scorecards, had they even been provided.

"Tees" are simply grass (more mud than grass) with a strip of bricks to mark off the front of the box. 50 bucks worth of gravel from Home Depot would do wonders.

I couldn't even find hole 7's bricks, but more importantly, where are the pro pads??? The signs provided marked off distances for both amateur and pro tees (actually labeled intermediate), but where the pro 'pads' are is anyone's guess.

No signs to point you towards the next tee; which in a course this small, isn't really a problem, except for the hole 3 to hole 4 transition.

No maps on the tee signs, but again,the course is so short it's relatively easy to find the correct pin.

Where's the bathroom(s)?

No elevation change at all, and the few trees and one road that intersects the course are hardly a challenge to get around.

No variety to the shots. 7 of the 9 holes are dead ahead, the other two are mild RHBH anhyzers.

A nice, quiet park to bring out the little ones or introduce noobs to the game, but that's about all the purpose this course serves.

Intermediate/advanced players will see this course as nothing but 9 ace runs in a row; very boring.

Rockspring Park is only ~6 miles away, and is leaps and bounds ahead of Roxana; much more worthy of your time.
