Pros:

Scoggins Valley Park is located on Henry Hagg Lake in Forest Grove, Oregon. This course offers some amazing views, water activities and a full length disc golf course. This course has a good mix of open to wooded holes. The front plays mostly along a large field overlooking the lake. And the back nine is heavily wooded.

The course features are great here. Large concrete tee pads, somewhat detailed signs and course maps are available at the info board near the first tee and parking lot. The course makes a nice loop around back to the parking lot. Discatcher baskets are also featured on this course.

This course slopes towards the lake so there's a lot of holes that play up and down the hill. Scoggins Valley Park is quite the trek. The wooded holes were a great change of pace since the front nine is mostly out in the open and I played on a hot day.

The natural beauty is amazing on this course. Hole 5 features a long downhill shot with a view of the lake in the background. As tough as the back nine is, the setting is amazing. I didn't run into anyone playing, even on a Sunday.

Cons:

I think the course upkeep could use a little work. Scoggins Valley Park is in pretty good condition but the grass hasn't been mowed in a while and it's annoying that it brushes up against your legs on every stride. Every time I took a step in the grass a few white moths would fly out of the ground. I even found an in ground hornet's nest near where one of my discs was.

The back nine has quite a few blind shots. It's easy to loose track of your disc and throw into some brush. I wouldn't recommend this course to a beginner unless you were only playing nine since it can get tiring quick, and there are quite a few long holes.

Other Thoughts:

This course is tiring on a hot day. The back nine is a nice retreat but I recommend bringing plenty of water and grab a course map at the info board. There is a very long walk from hole 10 to 11. Scoggins Valley Park reminds me a lot of Rooster Rock East and West, being that the front nine is open and the back is wooded.
